Someone posted this over on soxtalk, and although the results came out pretty silly (Clowney fell to 14) it's still a fun little tool to pass time.... http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/ I got..... 1R- Louis Nix III DT- Big hoss who is gonna demand double teams which makes the rest of the DL and LBs jobs easier. 2R- Craig Loston SS- Draws comps to last years LSU safety Eric Reid...Obvious need 3R- Jackson Jeffcoat DE- A DE that racked up 80 tackles has got to be good against the run. 4R- Dion Bailey FS- I was gonna add a point about adding a FS in FA but with Bailey here I say fug it, they should be better than what they have. 5R- Deion Belue CB- Depth/Prospect at CB 6R- Russell Bodine OC- Sounds like they want Garza back, here's someone to groom behind him 6R- Marcel Jensen TE- Depth behind MartyB is pretty bad. Jensen would be an intriguing 6R pick Add a versatile veteran safety to compete with the 2 rooks. Resign Anderson and Williams to compete with last years rooks. Resign Ratliff to play next to Nix (I wanta get big up front). Sign Micheal Bennett (releasing Peppers).

Spiegals source was wrong...womp womp
-
So we got the numbers on Jay and Jennings, any word on Slaus?
-
They're both free safeties. I agree with Mongo, fixing the 3rd level doesn't really help the 1st level, but the 1st level might help the 3rd level...got it??? (intentionally confusing)

So nice it gets posted 3 times! I really love the deal now..
-
So nice I'll post it twice..... @MattSpiegel670 I've got a source I trust on the official cap hits for the Jay Cutler contract, & the numbers are not as they've been reported/listed. SOURCE: The official salary cap hits for Cutler are as follows: ’14: 11.8 mil '15: 15.3 ’16: 16.8 ’17: 18.3 ’18: 18.8 ’19: 22 ’20: 23

Bears havea TON of cap space this year, so it might make sense to front load it like they did. With some cuts like Peppers, Podlesh, E. Bennett, Bush, and Podlesh the number before all the signings would be 56M....So after Cutler we're talking 34M....After Gould 31M....31M is still the 5th most cap room in the NFL....I know they have a lot of guys to sign, but I don't think the deal will hamper the team toooooo much. And now ~24 after the Jennings signing. Melton and Tillman are the only big $$ guys left, and Melton might actually not be that expensive. I believe they need what 5M for the draft?? So 20M to fill a roster seems realistic....There's also some restructuring that can be done.
-
Ya I read a tweet about them wanting Garza back, which kinda confuses things further....I'd be cool with Long to RT and then the athletic Mills in the Britton role.
-
Didn't know where to put this but I reckon it doesn't hurt to start a new thread... Biggsy was responding to some tweets about draft needs and here's a couple that stood out.... Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 2 Jan @MB10_10 I think there are greater needs, specifically interior O-line and backup TE Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 2 Jan @ChadBudd88 G and backup TE make more sense to me. No need for a developmental QB right now with QB on a 7 yr deal. Not pressing need anyway First tweet merely said interior O-line, not singling out OC, then the next one says straight up G as a draft need, didn't even add the word backup. I didn't hear the presser, was anything mentioned about Slauss moving to OC??? Or hell, any talk of Long to RT??? I know I'll take shitt for this, but Mills was ranked as one of the worst OL in the league from everyones fav PFF. He could merely be talking about backup OG though.
-
I wouldn't hate it, but I'd prefer a big ol monster like Nix who is gonna demand double teams. Makes the DEs and the LBs job easier by eatting up more guys.
-
How so? Don't have to change up the scheme with those 2 guys in the middle. Really if you wanna use the 3T and NT labels I really think both guys can be utilized in both positions.
-
I'd actually love to play Ratliff next to Nix. Both buys are huge but can also disrupt the pocket. Should be a cheap DT tandem that would leave money to sign a Jarius Byrd and/or Micheal Bennett.
-
Bears were 15th against the pass and dead last against the run. Gimme Louis Nix. Wouldn't mind Darqueze Denard if the Bears let Tillman walk. I've change my mind on HaHa.
-
Worth noting that it sounds like they can get out of the deal after 3 years.....Still waiting on all the cap numbers for Jay, Tim, and Matt.....Also what was Goulds and Fiamettas cap hit again?? I know we were at 41M in cap space before all these signings.
-
Bears had the 3rd or 4th most cap room in the league....They'll be fine even if the cap hit is 18...which it won't be.
-
I'm gonna hold out until I hear the spec on the deal before I call it too much. As a fan all I care about is the cap money, if the cap money is around 10-13 M a year, then I'd say it's a good deal. There's no denying that Cutler improved immensely this year, and I expect that to continue in year 2 of the system. In Trestman I trust.
-
I don't know what to think about Tedford either....He gets "credit" for "grooming" Aaron Rodgers but that's pretty much it.
-
Can anyone find why Dix was suspended??? Could be a stud player but might not be what everyone is calling a "team leader".
-
More I think about it, the more I think I'd rather have Nix over Dix. Bears certainly need to upgrade the safety positions, but I'm not sure they need superstars back there. Just last year we had the same safety duo as this year and were a top 5 D. Gimme a FA FS, a 2-3R SS, and a monster DT like Nix in the 1R.
-
I'd rather they be undisciplined douche bags than get a coach in there that is gonna get them to play disciplined football....That team is good coaching away from being a scary, scary team.
-
Bon voyage Podlesh, you were quite possibly the worst punter in the league. This Drew Butler guy was the Ray Guy award winniner in 2009, which is awarded to the best college punter, so hopefully he ends up being pretty good.
-
Yikes, they'll have their work cut out for them.
-
I certainly would love to see that.
-
Wonder if the Bears look into a mid-late round OT??? Mills has been one of the worst OTs in the NFL.
