  1. er mah gerd quit throwing to marshall, he sucks
  2. lol must have missed the first play of that drive where they got a 1st down
  3. Bears just wanna clinch at home, thats all
  4. I put it more on Trestman for NOT calling pass plays than Cutler actually throwing 1 incomplete pass.
  5. I can see that this game thread will be highly annoying
  6. weems lol...I know hester just fumbled but thats his ball with a running start
  7. Agreed, he didn't have any time at all on that 3rd down play, to put the blame on him for the 3rd down is silly. Special teams is shitting the bed so far....ugh
  8. A bye indeed because we also lock up the 3 seed.
  9. I assume the professionals he's alluding to are Marc Trestman and his staff....aka the only professionals that matter.
  10. I don't necessarily think Tucker is awful, but if the powers that be think it was more on him than injuries, and Rex would take a DC job then I'm down. Perhaps Rob Ryan and Sean Payton( I believe he and Trestman have a relationship) have talked about Marc and Rob can relay some info to Rex about him. Have to think if the DC job does open up that it will be a favorable position for anyone who is available with the rich history here in Chicago.
  11. Ya, I could care less about who gets the majority of the targets as long as Jay completes a high percentage of his passes, and as I profiled in my last post he certainly has. I mean one of Trestmans first gigs in the league was the 95 9ers team where Rice had 122 receptions and the next highest WR had 38, and that team was the highest scoring team in the league. Year after that Rice had 105, next highest WR had 35.....Even Earl Bennett might top those numbers this season Spreading the ball evenly isn't a necessary component of the WCO.
  12. Ya, I remember reading something on soxtalk about you being away so I took the reigns. No biggy though, if we were following Sox game thread protocol then you would have been out a long time ago. Anyyyyway, I see Jay going off this game, the bears dropping another 30 spot while the improved run D holds Shady under 120 and Philly under 40. Bears 33 Philly 27.
  13. well now that would just be silly. Week 17 if we clinched already would be a different story though.
  14. Without knowing exactly what "buying into the system" actually means I'm gonna say yes. The 2 things I wanted to see was Jay getting the ball out quicker and Jay bringing up his completion%, and he certainly has done that. Since Emery brought up games that he's played from start to finish I'll throw some more numbers out there. In games Jay has played from start to finish his comp% is 66.5%. That number is just .3% behind Aaron Rodgers for 4th, 1.3% behind Manning, 1.7% behind Brees, and 3.4% away from Rivers for 1st. I don't think it's at all crazy to say that if Jay got to play against the schedule Josh got to play against he very well could be in the top 3 in comp%.
  15. Psh, I was supposed to start this since they won last week lol....oh well they have 7 wins under your watch so ill bow down...if they lose though its all your fault!
  16. Very interesting, I had not heard that. Hasn't Briggs said he doesn't wanna play MLB? I'd kinda hate to see Bostic at the SLB just because they come off in nickel situations and I'd like my 2R pick to play every down.
  17. I personally don't think it will take long to rebuild our defense at all. The reason our defense was so god awful this year was because of injuries, if they just bring back the injured guys, who should all come on discounts, then the defense will be at the very least, good enough. DT was the biggest problem this season. If they can put a healthy rotation of Melton, Ratliff, Paea, and Collins they should be really stout in the middle. Maybe throw in a 3-4 round pick to protect ourselves against injury. DE gets better because of the improvement at DT. Not only do they get to move Wootton back outside, but because of the attention paid to the guys on the inside, it makes the guys on the outside job a little easier. I also really think we'll see Peppers get the boot and add MartyBs bro Michael to take his place. Wootton and Bennett on the corners should be a big improvement over Pepper and SMC. CB will be fine whatever way they wanna go with it. If they let one of Tillman or Jennings walk I'm fine with that because Bowman has played really well in the absence of Tillman. Frey hasn't been noticeably bad either so I can see him sticking around in the nickel. LB isn't in bad shape. Briggs will be back, and despite somewhat bad play out of Bostic I think you gotta give your 2nd round pick a chance to start next year. The Sam LB should be easy to fill. Whether they wanna bring Anderson back, play Greene there, or find another cheap option there they should be fine. Safety should be priority numero uno. I would LOVE to see Ha-Ha fall to us, or see Tillman accept a move to safety and have Denard fall to us....Those are ideal situations to me. Like another poster suggested, I wouldn't mind Joyner in the first round either, he reminds me a lot of Bob Sanders looking at his tape from when he was a Safety. Assuming they have the money to bring back Melton, Collins, Ratliff, Wootton, Tillman, Jennings, and bring in Bennett, then hit on a Safety in the first round then I think they could, at the very least be a top 15 defense. If they're a top 15 defense, and the offense remains a top 5 offense i think that team could make a deep playoff run. In an ideal world, if all those guys are brought back they can go with a draft that looks something like....(using WF mock) 1R Ha-Ha/Denard/Joyner/Oregon dude withe the weird name/Verrett- In said ideal world if they get a CB here it would mean Tillman to Safety 2R- Travis Swanson OC 3R- Taylor Hart DT/DE Oregon 4R- CB/S 5R- CB/S 6R- LB 6R- Huge TE/Speedy WR. DE- Bennett/Wootton/SMC/Bass/Washington/Hart DT- Melton/Ratliff/Paea/Collins/Hart/Cohen LB- Briggs/Bostic/Greene/Vet/Costanzo/6R CB-Tillman/Jennings/Frey/Bowman/4Ror5R/McMannis or Denard/Jennings/Frey/Bowman/4Ror5R/McMannis S- Ha-Ha/Wright/4Ror5R/? or Tilman/Wright/4Ror5R/?
  18. I'll also be rooting for Chico and the Panthers to beat the Saints. I know we already lost to them at home this year, but I feel like we have a better chance against the Saints at home than the Panthers in the first round. Weather conditions will be different this time around here in Chicago.

    Rodgers In

Fantastic. Still gotta take care of the Eagles though because from the sounds of it Rodgers is close and might be back next week.
  20. A lot of the beat writers last year talked about how Trestman will use a lot of "ace packages"(2WR/2TE/1RB) so I was on board with drafting a 2nd TE, it didn't happen. Then they traded for Rosario and I thought using the ace package was the idea behind it, I still haven't really seen it that much. I don't know if Rosario just hasn't shown it in practice to utilize it more in games, or that's just something Marc doesn't want to run. If the idea behind Rosario was to indeed try to run more of that package but he's just sucked then I have no problem with them drafting a TE. In the first round though? idk about that. Same goes for OC and a speed guy in the first. We've had a top ranked offense, without a 2nd TE, without a burner in the slot, and with Roberto Garza at OC. Those positions aren't that high of a priority to take them over a defensive player. However, if they bring back all their guys (Tillman/Jennings/Melton/Collins/Ratliff) and there isn't a Safety or CB that high up on their draft board then I would have no problem with them getting a guy like Eric Ebron, Austin Jenkins, Marquise Lee, or Jordan Matthews. I'd actually prefer the monster TE's vs a speed guy, Jeffery has proven to be one of the biggest deep ball threats in the league, he's the guy who takes the tops off defenses.
  21. Better, without a doubt. I wouldn't call Flynn "upsurging" either, he benefited from playing against statistically one of the worst defenses of all time (Cowboys), and a team ranked 29th against the pass in Atlanta. Before that he was the hot garbage QB he is.
  22. A DT coming off his 2nd ACL injury in 3 years??? Interesting. I like the reports I see on him with phrases like "uncanny first step" "active hands" "most disruptive player in the SEC" and "extremely intelligent" being thrown out there. Also like that he's being compared to Geno Atkins. Reports say the injury issues will scare some and might force him out of the first round, but he's got first round talent. Without watching any game tape on him, I'd still prefer Hageman if they want to go DT, and prefer Denard overall.
  23. Todd McShay came out with his first mock draft so I was wondering if we have any insiders here to copy and paste it. As a non insider I can only see the first 3 picks....3rd pick was QB Blake Bortles....Man I swear there seems to be a new QB every week that pops up to be a top 10 pick.
  24. Hopefully Chip forgets that he has Shady in the backfield like he did this past week.....Why that man only got 8 carries last week is beyond me. I mean I know the Vikes pass defense is god awful, and Foles ripped them to pieces but their run defense isn't that much better.....Maybe they were just prepping him for the Bears lol. With Briggs coming back I wouldn't be surprised if they are at least "competent" against Shady. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they keep Shady under 120 and Philly under 27 pts scored while Jay and the Bears will put up his 5th 30 pt game of the season.
