I actually tend to agree with this. Thinking this game will be easy will set you up for a let down. I think it will ultimately come down to 2 things. The Bears awful DL vs The Giants awful OL. To steal a phrase used around here, who's the shinier turd? That battle will directly tie into the 2nd key to the game and that's the turnover battle.. Gotta get pressure in Elis face, esp with Wilson out of the game. In the end I think with no real running game Mel tucker will get a little creative with his pass rush and the Bears win the battle in the trenches, Eli throws a few picks, and the Bears pick up the much needed W.

Ya, Okoye's out there and he's a guy I wanted after Melton got hurt. Looking forward to the draft what can the ND fans on the board tell me about Nix? I'm reading he's very agile for a guy his size, could he potentially play the 3T in the NFL? I know Tuitt is the guy that is the more suitable fit for the 3T but I've always liked the 2 monsters in the middle dynamic. Nix would certainly demand a double team which would alleviate the attention Peppers is getting.

Sigh. This is just brutal. If they wanna compete this year they might need to make a rare mid season trade. Noot sure they have the money to get a guy like Seymour and there's not much else out there that can make an impact. Zach Minter, your table is ready.

lol at Matt Shaub being a starting QB. Like I said Texan fans were burning his jersey last week and after another awful game he was replaced this week. Once Stephen Jackson comes back that trade will be 2 bench players for a potential top 10 RB. Oh well, the rich get richer snd the poor get poorer. Glad this isnt a money league.

Shea wasnt that bad, 6 tackles, 1 TFL, and a QB hit.....Pep didn't even make the stat book.

Putting that game on Briggs and Earl

I'd love to see Venric Mark a few rounds later than Thomas for the same reasons. Forgot how much I loved this Cat.

As a guy who "worked" for pff for about a week(wasn't being paid and a paid opportunity came up) I know that film study could take anywhere from 7-12 hours. There may be some assumption involved but by definition it's pretty cut and dry.

Before the Detroit game, which we both agree was poor, the percentage was actually right at 33%. Detroit just did work Sunday. Both Suh and Izzy were ranked amongst the top Tackles and Ends in pressures with 11 combined.

There's a shock, you object to this. Here is there description of a hurry... Ironically... I'm not getting into this argument again, believe what you want.

Sadly the site just started doing it week 3 when they ranked 15th giving up a pressure on 28% of passing plays. Their 42 Hurries through week 3 was 8th worst. Looking at the differential from week 3 to week 4 they gave up 26 hurries against the Lions, which is a massive number, and could have lead to why Jay had an awful game. The 68 Hurries is now 3rd worst, 1 less than the Ravens and 3 less than the Eagles. But to others points about the good Ds they faced, according these rankings that's not so true. They are ranked 10th(Detroit), 21st (Steelers), 25th(Bengals), and 29th(Vikings) on the pressure scale....NOLA ranks 9th on this scale. Rather surprising stats. The sacks aren't there but the pressure certainly has. Like Buck alluded to, I think the reason the sacks aren't there is due to how quick Jay has gotten rid of the ball...If this was last year a lot more of those hurries would turn into sacks.

I don't know who the commish of the talkbears league is but I'd like to vote against the pending trade thats goin down... Jason Snelling and Matt Shaub for Doug Martin and Brandon Myers....Really? The Falcons 3rd string RB and a guy who's own fan base is burning his jerseys for a guy who is on pace for 1500 yards despite having a "bad start" and a decent option at TE?

While out driving I was listening to 670 and whoever it was (4 o clock hour) brought up an grading system that gives both offensive and defensive lines ratings based on several different things, sacks, disruptions, holding calls for/against, and they then devise a percentage off that. To the surprise of no one the Bears DLine ranks 2nd to last with a 17.5% rating . Only the 0-4 Giants rank lower at 17.1%. The OL, to some peoples surprise ranks 24th on this list with a pressure rate of 29.9% The OL will obviously have some bumps in the road but over the first quarter of the season I'm a little surprised no one has knocked their play. The DL on the other hand obviously deserves all the crap they've been given here and I honestly don't see how they will get any better barring some kind of a trade. Here's a link to the article. http://mmqb.si.com/2013/10/03/tamba-hali-r...ovich-pressure/ ....The grid showing the ratings I speak of are at the bottom.

At this point there is no chance SMC nets us a 2nd round pick. I think a 4th rounder would be pushing it. With Wootton seeing some time inside and the DL being so thin I'm not sure they can trade anyone on the line.

I think the biggest thing I take away from this game is that Melton being gone is gonna be a huge loss for this team. He didn't really show up when he played but he's still a presence and not having that presence up the middle will have teams pounding the rock all day. Brian brought up trading for a DT this year and after watching that game I think it's a must if they wanna be true contenders.

Tucker did say he wanted to keep the same lingo so... What sounded like a solid idea to help the players adjust to him and life without Lovie could have back fired.
-
Or not...Minter inactive, Conen in the mix.

Cutler is 7-1 vs the Lions in his time here, lets hope he moves that mark to 8-1. I think this game comes down to linebacker and safety play. The Lions have targeted the RB 33 times as apposed to Forte being targeted 20 times. If the Bears can bottle up the short passes and keep them out of the redzone where Detroit has a plethora of big targets (Johnson and Pettigrew 6'5", Durham 6'6", and Fauria 6'7") then they should be able to pull out a W. I don't think it'll be easy but I'm predicting a 38-30 Bears shootout victory.

lol regardless that shirt is pretty weak.
-
I believe that you will, like I said in the first post I think he basically takes Minters place(you may have confused this for Melton) as an inactive DT. Seymour would have been nice but I don't think the Bears have the money he's looking for. I would have preferred Okoye to this guy but oh well.

All per Biggs. Cohen was a 7th round pick of the Lions, started 4 games there and started another game in 2011 for the Pats. ESPN scouting report- Coming out of college he was 275, he's now listed at 300. He'll pretty much take Minters spot. Interested in seeing what Minter can do.

I could see the Megatron duties going to Frey or Bowman....I worry about the 5'8" Jennings on the 6'5" Johnson
-
I'm not even sure the Bears have the 8M to pay him......If the Bears don't like McCown I'd rather see them pick up Vince Young, Mike Kafka, Trent Edwards, Jordan Palmer, David Carr etc etc....They may not be better than Freeman but given his salary and having to give up a draft pick I'd rather go with one of those.
