  1. I was about to make a post about how Anderson comes out when Frey comes in but I was surprised to see that it's actually Williams that comes out in the nickel package. That tells me the Bears like Anderson more than Williams since it's usually the OLB that comes out. Like Brian said, he's on pace for 102 tackles, and I've also seen him active in the secondary breaking up a few passes...He's a good player
  2. The Bears seem to be confident in McCown as their backup(I sure hope we're talking about him for backup here) so I doubt they trade squat for him. I wouldn't hate to bring him here but I'd rather have the draft pick. Wouldn't be surprised to see him traded to the Vikes.
  3. Don't forget about Frey when talking about last years draft. He looks like he could be a steal in the 6th.

    James Anderson

Roach is playing MLB in Oakland. Anderson has looked good to me.
  5. Wootton playing inside is no shock since he did so in preseason. I do think he's a bit to small though. Whiteside has always been rather intriguing due to his dominance at Abilene Christian. That dominance has yet to translate against higher competition though...Perhaps he just needs a chance? One things for sure is we won't be seeing him inside. Cowboys were talking about moving him to LB when he was drafted due to being undersized at DE Don't really remember Ozougwu, but a quick google search makes him look a lot like Whiteside in the fact that he's undersized for DE(6'2" 247 when he was drafted) I was slightly interested in seeing what Trestman could do with Jerrod Johnson, thought he might have surprised...guess I was wrong.
  6. Without a doubt. He lessens the need of grabbing 2 CBs high in the draft next year, even if both Peanut and Jennings are gone(which I doubt).
  7. lol even with me out there at RT the sack totals wouldn't be that high with Jay getting the ball out as quick as he has.
  8. Agreed, and another thing that hasn't been talked about that was brought to light Sunday night was just how quick he's getting rid of the ball. I know the revamped line has a lot to do with the fact that Jay has only been sacked 3 times but Jay getting rid of the ball as quick as he has deserves a lot of credit as well. The announcers Sunday clocked how quick he got rid of the ball and said something like "even the best sack artists can't get to him with how quick he gets rid of the ball". There were 2 times where they showed him get rid of the ball under 2 seconds, which is huge. I think this is where Trestman deserves the most credit. I don't remember what the numbers were but I remember it being noted here that the Allouttes gave up some ridiculous amount of sacks the year before Trestman got there and then with the same line in Trestmans first year they gave up a considerably less amount of sacks...That was more than likely due to the fact that Trestman got the QB to get rid of the ball quicker. It goes without saying that I really like seeing that.
  9. With only 1 game a week there's not much to talk about during the week so I see no harm in looking at the future to kill some time. A guy I like, and it pains me to say this as ND basher, is Stephon Tuitt. Both of CBSs mock drafts have him going to the Bears and I would agree with that pick. While I hate ND I still have watched plenty a games and I'm really fond of Tuitt, wish he was reeking havok in Evanston for my Wildcats. I see him being able to play the 3T or DE, and both could be a problem next year.
  10. I actually agree it's too early, I just saw the lil tidbit yesterday and that's why I posted it.
  11. I like it. Set up a kind of Keith Traylor/Ted Washington big up the middle dynamic.
  12. I know I'm not apart of the locker room and haven't built that relationship with Pep, but if it's clear throughout the whole season that he doesn't have it(which it isn't yet) I would be happy that they're trying to free up money to improve the team. I do get the argument though.
  13. I left those games out because of the next line of the post. They were #1 and #2 in sacks allowed, SMC could have done what he did vs those teams. Once again I'm not ready to pull the plug yet but I have my doubts. I still don't understand the whole 13.9 non guaranteed part that roto brought up, thats what sparked this post, if that doesn't mean what I thought it meant then everything is moot since I agree that the savings aren't enough to cut him...Though I still wouldn't mind it.
  14. Like I said, if you throw out his games against the Cards and Packers, #1 and #2 in sacks allowed last year, his stats look dismal. 27 tackles and 5 sacks in 13 games. I'm not ready to pull the plug just yet but I have my doubts.
  15. So what does "non-guaranteed $13.9 million" even mean? Was it a mistake?
  16. Well that's rather disappointing....I'm "betting" it's Akoye or Irvin.
  17. I think it depends on who hits the FA market....If Greg Hardy doesn't get resigned for whatever reason then I'd cut my loses with Pep, save the 10M, and put it towards Hardy.
  18. That would be intriguing....With Collins looking good I think they can get by with signing a guy off the streets though.
  19. Nope, only DLman we have on the PS is Aston Whiteside who, at 6'2" 255, is too small for DT. Same with Washington really(6'4" 265). I suppose guy like Washington, Wootton, and Peppers can play inside on passing downs but they're to small to really be considered DTs. Corey Irvin looked good in training camp if I remember correctly so I'd add him to the list of potential signings with Okoye and the favorable Seymour.
  20. Beat me to it...go ahead and combine the 2.
  21. Adam Schefter ✔ @AdamSchefter Bears DT Henry Melton tore his ACL - out for the year. I know he hasn't done much through 3 games but its still a big hit, he could have turned it around at any point. I wonder if the Bears have the money to sign Seymour who's still out there, if not, I can see them bringing back Okoye. Could be the end of Melton in Chicago.
  22. I know he's been sick and could have potentially lost some weight/strength but it was just a thought if that's not the case. I wasn't gonna post anything about it till I saw the rotoworld thing saying his scheduled salary is non gaurenteed 13.9 which to me obviously says they don't have to pay him that amount should they wanna cut him. This surprised me so I wanted to see if anyone could confirm this. Going back to last year if you take away his games against the awful cardinals and packers OL he only had 4 sacks and 29 tackles in his other 15 games(including the 2 this year) so it's not just this year where he doesn't look dominate.
  23. Didn't wanna take away from the other thread so I'll start a new one. I'm cap illiterate so I was trying to figure out how much the bears would save if they cut him next year.... I read this on roto So to me that sounds like the bears save nearly 14 mill by cutting him while only being on the hook for a little over 4M right?
