Hopefully this puts to rest any "Webb was just handed the job" conversations.

From a chemistry standpoint I don't worry too much about Earl being out a couple weeks. I do worry that he ends up being forced to retire early though. One more concussion and that may be the end. I do love the depth at WR though. Between DA, Anderson, and Wilson I think Earl can be replaced easier than Hayden.
-
I'm looking at it as the D still has a knack for takeaways. No defense knows Cutler better than the Bears defense. If it continues in preseason then I start to worry or at the very least temper my high expectations on the passing game.
-
I wasn't a fan of Hayden anyway but will admit it hurts the depth at CB. Hopefully Freys success in training camp continues on into the regular season and the ol vets Peanut and Jennings stay healthy all year so we're not forced to see ample amounts of Bowman.

He and Newhouse rated nearly identical in the PFF ratings so it's not THAT big of a blow to them if you wanna believe PFF.

Ya is this like a 4 team league or something? Even in a 4 team league this looks a little whacky. At first I thought it was a huge league and you had the last pick with that Jackson selection. How anyone can take Jackson over Rodgers, MJD, White, Brady, Welker, and Wallace is just crazy to me. Are you trolling right now? lol jkjk
-
Not as all...If he actually plays thats huge for the Bears because it means Rodgers is hurt.

When I saw that Slausson used to play center I immediately craved him playing there over Garza. An interior line of Long-Slausson-Brown should be very, very solid if that's what ends up happening. When Slausson signed he said the Bears offered him the best plan for the future(or something along those lines) which was an odd statement coming from a guy who signed a 1 year contract. I'm really hoping he gets signed long term and we can see that Long-Slausson-Brown combo for years to come.

and in his first practice he injures Washington lol. I guess he's actually more known for his blocking...Maybe he can breakout like Martellus did in NY after not being utilized in Dallas. This all of course assuming they even use 2 TEs in the passing game.
-
Also said he's been terrific at times. He is what he is, if you help him out vs speed guys he'll be fine.
-
Probably because he's 6'8" and can run a 4.58 40 which is pretty good for a TE. Was projected as a first rounder and looked to have a ton of talent. As a 2nd TE he very well could be a valuable piece to this offense. 61 of his 105 career receptions have been for a 1st down or a touchdown, gotta like that. I like it, another wildcard.

Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 24m Pending a physical #Bears expected to sign TE Leonard Pope. Another end zone threat to throw out there. Speculation the Eldridge is being cut for Pope. Trying to cover a 2 TE set with Marshall, Jeffery, M. Bennett and Pope would be awfully difficult in the red zone.

Ya, I wouldn't look too much into it. I'd try to get Webb as many reps as possible at RT. If it was something serious with JB than I'd put Webb back over there.

Well said, and I couldn't agree more. To further your point the Bears will almost certain be sending out 4 or 5 receivers on a fairly consistent bases. If they send out 5 guys and they wanna double Marshall you are looking at at least 6 guys in coverage. Teams will also probably wanna leave a safety over the top putting 7 into cover and giving the line a 4 on 5 advantage which will really make things easier on them. Even if the line isn't that up to par the Bears should still be able to work the short game and nickle and dime the hell out of teams. When you do that teams will be forced to lay off the pass rush and that's when you have the time to work in the deep ball. I've got a raging boner for what this offense could be.

How has Fendi looked since putting pads on?

1. Draft time and date is cool with me, I'm working from home so anything works for me. 2. I'd prefer a minute, if everyones paying attention and queing targets ahead of time a minute should be plenty of time...Open to 1:30 though, no biggy. 3. I like the idea of 2 flex players. 4. I'd go with the 1 day. I like the settings as well...Everything looks good to me.

Neither of us really know or seen enough to put a bad/good label on him yet, that part I agree with. But, there have certainly been more good reports vs bad reports when it comes to Brown. At this point I have no reason to believe he's a bad OG. The thing I really liked hearing about Brown this year was that he put on 30 pounds. This kid was ranked as high as the 50s on some big boards going into the draft and that was as a "tweener". Scouts said he was too short to play outside and too "thin" to play inside. Putting on 30 pounds will put an end to those tweener comments. As much as I'd hate to have a first rounder sit out a year I think it's a real possibilty that Brown starts over Long and we don't resign Slausson next year making our OG duo Long and Brown.

In 1 on 1s he'd be awfully hard to stop. That dude is strong as funk. I think he's a big reason for HenMels success. Playing next to a guy that strong you're not gonna see a lot of double teams since he will be eatting up 2 guys.

Well with Bushrod having his foot in a boot Scott might be getting reps with the first team the next few practices but at LT...This could either put a damper on any kind of RT comp, Scott could be awful, or Scott could show enough at LT to garner a competition. Also just because Scott wasn't playing with the 1sts doesn't mean he isn't competing. I'm sure if shows enough playing against the 2nds that he'll get a shot to play against some of the 1sts Early tweets say that he's already been beat by both SMC and Pep.
-
Why aren't you a fan of Brown? Coming into the draft last year he was highly touted teams found out he smoked a little pot(this could be why you don't like him). He's a guy who I thought about putting in the surprises thread but I didn't think people would be really surprised by his good play. All offseason I've been thinking about a Bushrod-Slausson-Garza-Brown-Long or a Bushrod-Long-Slausson-Brown-Webb OL if Garza or Webb are awful. Probably not enough time to do that much switching around though.

Turk McBride out for the season. Pretty sure he's played some DT in the past, could have potentially got some PT there with Ellis retiring. Has anyone heard how the UDFA DTs are doing?
-
Bushrod hurt...uh ohs..hopefully not serious

How did Brown look? Believe it or not I'd love to see Brown solidify the RG spot thus opening Long up to compete at RT.
