The flame had no reason to ignite in this case....if hes gonna bring day old shit up in different threads that's when I have a problem. You guys ever wonder why soxtalk has thousands of users and this place has what 10-15??? Its posters like tool that cause this.
-
I shall dub you bowlingtool...Seriously quite being a tool man, these backhanded comments are annoying as hell.....Now I remember why I didnt visit this board last year around this time...Its full of ignoramuses like yourself bowlingtool
-
I made note of this about a month ago....I think we have enough weapons as is but if the Bears don't think so I'd be all for bringing him in. Chads off the field antics look like childs play compared to some of things we've seen recently. He's just a charismatic human being, I don't fault him for that whatsoever.
-
If Brown takes one of the OG spots then I can certainly see Long competing on the outside. Remember this staff puts more emphasis on guard play so I would hope Long is that guy in the middle as it's the more important position
-
Scott is competing, but talent wise I don't think he has what it takes to beat out Webb. Scott was on pace to give up 44 pressures last year, Webb only gave up 29. Why Emery, and some on this board liked Scott last year is beyond me but that's who Phil chose....Once pads are put on it wouldn't surprise me one bit to hear that Mills, Brown, and Britton(wrong on the name here but the dude that came from the jags) are also getting a look.....like I said earlier in this thread we should wait till they put on pads before we get all up in arms about competition.
-
See this post is different than what Jasons view is. Jason says there is no real competition due to the fact that Scott isn't that great, but he is indeed competiting anyway. While this post makes it sound like you think there is no competition PERIOD, which is not the case and silly to think.... I'm just trying to make sure I have your story straight....I really don't see the harm in this and why I'm being bashed for this.
-
How about you just shove it in my face with your pasts posts that clearly point out what your point is. I don't understand what is so hard about this, and why I'm even getting shit for this. LT asked the same question to Jason and Jason respectfully answered. I will undoubtedly understand your point if you just answer me with a simple A or B. Is anyone else seeing my point here? Anyone else think I'm wrong here in asking the question I did? I don't wanna give up because I've spent ample time arguing this and I wanna know what we we're actually arguing about.
-
I'm gonna fearlessly predict 4200 yards 30-35 TDs and 15-20 INTs if he stays healthy.
-
If your answer is A then I don't think youre wrong. If your answer is B then I simply believe you are wrong and we'll leave it at that. Much like LT wanted to clear up what Jason was trying to say that's what I wanna know from you. Does LT need to "learn to read" or "grow a brain" because he asked Jason the same question I'm asking you? You HAVE NOT made it clear whether you think there is no competition because of the level of talent in Mills and Scott or if you think there is no competition because those 2 aren't getting a fair shake at the job. Get the freak off your high horse with this bullshit. You wanna make personal attacks like this when all I'm doing is asking a simple CIVIL question that you have yet to address. I'm not being a dick here, I asked a serious question. For you to make this oout to be bigger than what it is and question my brain is beyond asinine. You're a grown ass man, act like it.
-
This same question that was asked by LT. I wanna clear up the same thing he asked Jason. Is it that big of a request? A or B?
-
There's no such thing as an easy answer with me??? I'm asking you A or B, how much easier can it get?? I think you just realize how wrong you are with opinion B and don't wanna admit it. All I wanna do is clear things up.
-
Excuse me for not understand what your argument is, I'm sure im not the only one. I just want a simple response, Ill make it easy with an a or b question... do you... A. Think there is no real competition because of the talent level of Scott and Mills? (What I believe Jasons argument to be) or B. Think there is no real competition because Mills and Scott aren't going to get a fair shot? (What I believe your argument to be) It's a quite simple request that I believe another poster asked Jason as well. Get off your high horse and answer A or B.
-
Well have your 5 year old hit me up because its still not clear from your stand point. It's clear Jason is talking about the level of talent competing with Webb which is resulting in "no real competition". Your opinion seems to be different with all your I JUST WAN A DAMN COMPETITION posts which I'm taking as you think, talent disregarded, that there is no open competition going on at all. These are 2 completely different view points and I lumped you both into the 1 view point of thinking Webb is just being handed the job, which is false. Jasons point I can wrap my head around, though supposedly Emery really like Scott and they did spend a draft pick on a RT to compete, so they did what they can. It's your viewpoint that I view as wrong. To sum up what I've gathered... You seem to think that Scott and Mills aren't getting a chance to compete while Jason thinks Scott and Mills are competing but the talent level isn't there

Crazy stuff. Teams in the conference championships last year all lost some big pieces this year First the Ravens lose a lot of key pieces on their defense and Anquan Boldin. Then the 49ers lose Crabtree for at least most of the year. Now the Pats lose Hernandez to go along with Gronk potentially being out a good portion of the year and they lose Welker. The Falcons, to a lesser extent lost a good deal of their offensive line which we all know could bring down a team real quick. All this building up to what should be a very interesting NFL season.
-
At least you are consistent Jason. Went back to the Jonathon Scott is back thread and you called him a scrub there too. Now I question if you and Twig even have the same argument going here? It seems like you are saying there is no competition because of the level of competition while Twig is saying there is no competition period.
-
My god you 2 let this go. I never once said you shouldn't listen to what Pompei says. I said you shouldn't take his opinion, then skew his opinion and make it into something it's not. Ok so now you are heading a different direction here. Now you wanna talk about the performance level of Webbs competition. .... Right? So the point is no longer that he is "basically being handed the job" but that his level of competition sucks??? I don't believe this was your argument to begin with. So you agree that there is competition but Webb is the best of the bunch.
-
Its hard to imagine that he's not gonna hit with something heavy. The Pats are a smart organization and I'd bet they know something we don't. If he gets off scott free the Pats would have made a huge mistake. If somehow he is innocent and allowed to play football I would be all over him.
-
And why else would he point out, in the very same quote we're talking about, that THERE WILL BE COMPETITION if Webb is a virtual lock....I love how you guys said READ THE DAMN QUOTE and that you guys chose to simply skip that sentence.
-
Izzy is the perfect guy for that DLine in Detroit. The have A TON of talent but no veteran leadership....That said the DLine and Glover Quin are all that D has so they still won't be that great as a whole.
-
I've tried to stay out of this since my last post but I can't resist. I'm sorry Jason but let this shit go, there is absolutely no reason for there not to be a competition. ZERO, ZIP, NADA, NO REASON at all that Webb "basically gets handed the job". For you, a "respected" football mind on this board, to continue to believe just makes you look ignorant and thus the quotations around respected.... You can't take a god damn skewed quote as truth....Didn't Pompei say Fendi Onubun was gonna play a significant role in this offense??? Why the hell are you gonna completely shut that quote down while holding onto this quote so much? I'm sure I can go through many of Pompei's mailbox questions and see other questionable quotes that we can skew into something irrelevant at this time (meaning right now, a month before they even put pads on).
-
Yes, and I believe it was a guy from PFF, the other nerdy stats site... Look out you manly "eye test" evaluators, nerdy stat geeks are taking over the NFL! PFF FTW
-
Before even looking for more quotes refer back to post 59 in this thread. While they didn't single out RT specifically both Trestman and Emery talked about competition on the line....I see no reason why RT wouldn't be included in those statements. And here's a video clip of Trestman saying there will be competition. Once again not sure why this would exclude the RT position. http://www.csnchicago.com/sportsnetChicago...e-to-o-line.htm

I sure haven't seen you point out anything other then your whole Webb conspiracy theory. And that's truly what it is and there is no getting around that. And lol how have I missed this...The very same quote we're talking about clearly says..... The only way someone beats out Webb is if Webb falls on his face in camp. I’d be surprised if that happened. Webb probably has to show a little something just because he is dealing with an entirely new group of coaches. And he will have competition from Jonathan Scott, who is a consistent, veteran pro. Scott won’t fall on his face, and I would bet on that. But it’s Webb’s job to lose. But, but, it's not REAL COMPETITION right?
-
Show me proof of the professional incompetence that is benching a player that has performed better than the starter....Maybe in the NBA or NHL where they wanna bring a spark off the bench but it makes little to no sense not to play your best guy in the NFL. What purpose would it serve to bring back Scott and draft Mills if they were already set in stone with Webb? Or what point would it be to start Webb over those 2 if one of those 2 perform better? There is no point or purpose. Just because it's Webbs name that is being thrown out there some will automatically hate it....What if Pompei (c'mon guys 1 I in Pompei) said "Well right now it looks like Scott or Mills is the one to beat for RT"? I highly doubt we'd be having the same convo. We all want competition, there will be competition, and I will trust this new staff to put our best player at RT.
-
And I agree with that first point. And I also venture to believe that we have seen that every year and will continue to see it this year. I just can't believe that a professional staff can be so incompetent to do so otherwise. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. This isn't little league where the coaches son is playing despite being god awful (I've been on those teams).
