  1. To go along with that there's a remote possibility that reconnecting with Richmond Webb (I forget how they're related cousin/uncle) also did him a lot of good.
  2. I didn't jump down anyones throat. I was civil at the beginning stating why I was ok with Webb being in the lead for the RT position. Then I got jumped on for that. Then I simply pointed out all the potential RTs we have on our team only to get told I'm wrong based off what Pompei (One I guys) said. Seriously though, despite what that answer looks like I just don't see if Scott, Mills, Brown, or Long (if the last 2 get tested there) out preform Webb that Webb would be the starting RT.....There is just no reason for there not to be the best 5 out there.
  3. Lastly they haven't even put on pads so we should all stfu lol /end thread
  4. And take a page out of your book with the Pompei quote? Get off your high horse with that last comment dude. We understand that you want competition. Everyone else wants the same thing. The difference here is you are taking skewed words, of an opinion, from the media, and most everyone else is saying it makes literally no sense for there not to be a comp going on. We all want the same thing lets move on.
  5. Perhaps he just wants him as a backup...He doesn't need to be utilized, he can just sit back and learn from said great QB
  6. So you're gonna take your skewed opinion of what Dan Pompei said as them naming Webb the starter before 1 preseason game? Yet you wont take Trestman or Emerys (and I'm pretty sure Kromer has said the same thing as well) word that they're having competitions along the line? Where have you heard that Scott or mills isn't getting reps with the first team? I'm sorry but as much as I think Webb can grow as a player in a better situation, I just don't think this staff will hand him anything.
  7. Yup I read it and thats what I meant by what more do you want as proof? How are they gonna show you other than theyre own words???? Why don't you go to camp to see for yourself
  8. So what more do you want as proof? If the staff lied about there being competition and they are just giving Webb the job then this staff is already awful. We all know I'm a Webb fan but I want him to earn it just as much as you guys do. Like Cracker said, you're delusional if you think they're showing Webb any kind of favoritism. There is no plausible reason for them to do so.
  9. Yikes, that alone can give him some serious jail time.
  10. Hopefully in the next episode with Kromer we'll get to hear something about Mills competing for a starting job to shut some people up.
  11. Ok even if the whole Tice/Webb connection is true....What theory do you have now? There is just no valid argument anymore.....The only thing you can throw out there is "well this staff must suck too" or "our player evaluation is still highly questionable" .....is that where we're going already? Months before the season has even started? Damn this staff for being liars
  12. I can dig it, I think he can really help in game planning. I just wish their info was free =p.
  13. I only said that because BB has called me out for quoting Pompei in the past. It was a joke.
  14. You you 2 choose to look to far into it because an insider thinks Webb has a strong grasp on the job and you can't accept that because of your hate for him. Yes, I see what you mean with the wording of his statement but it would make absolutely no sense whatsoever for there not to be a competition. That's my point, I'm not gonna look to deep into a quote to pull out some rediculous theory that for whatever reason they are "yet again" just giving Webb the job. If you believe that then you should believe that this staff is just as garbage as the last......If I was as much of a "Webb lover" as you guys suggest I wouldn't even be suggesting a competition now would I? I wish brianbear would show up and tell all of us how much pompei sucks anyway. Once again I see what you mean but I think you're looking to far into it.
  15. Thanks for the post, never would have seen these....Can't wait to see the next one that looks to feature Kromer.
  16. Dude, have you not read my posts? I'm clearly saying there's competition. Do I have to run through my 1am post again? You, Jason, and maybe a few other guys are the ones that think that Webb is being handed the job for whatever reason. If thats the case, which I doubt it is, then this staff sucks.
  17. So basically our new staff sucks then and they were lying when they said the best 5 will be starting? What purpose do they have in just handing Webb the position without a competition? There is literally no theory behind it. Next thing I'm gonna hear is "Webb must be black mailing the Mccaskeys" they're the only constant over the last 3 years.
  18. I'd say those 2 things go hand in hand, the QB builds a rapport with the WR to know where the right place at the right time is. I wouldn't say he's on the outside looking in, I'd say he has a legit chance to be our #4 WR with Anderson/Wilson/Weems battling for the 5 spot. TD- From what I understood from studying the WCO speed isn't a major necessity. You set the defense up with the underneath passes forcing the secondary to cheat the short pass and when they're caught cheating even a guy like Brandon Marshall could blow past his defender.....Also while we are here, Aromashodu ran a 4.35, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Jeffery be a little faster than his 4.45 speed of last year.
  19. With Gronk needing back surgery this could really hurt the Pats.
  20. Kinda old news but I surprisingly didn't touch on this. Love the move. One of the keys to a WCO is the relationship between the QB and the WR and he and Jay supposedly had that. Same reason why I still like Bennett as well. I really love what Jay has to work with. What a difference a few years make. 3 big physical pass catchers in Marshal, M. Bennett, and Jeffery. 2 guys who have built a solid rapport with Jay in the past in Earl and DA. 2 or 3 potential surprises in guys like Joe Anderson, Marquiss Wilson, and Fendi Onubun. Oh and you can throw in a one of the better pass catching RBs in the league for a coach who likes to throw to the RB. I was drunk Sunday when I said I really think the Bears can contend for a championship and I'm gonna stick to that sober.
  21. Thank you Mongo and B4E. It's really hard to say the Bears didn't bring in competition this year. As I said earlier, it seemed most everyone here wanted Scott back and have said he did an adequate job at RT. They delivered. Then you guys wanted an OT in the draft. They took a projected 3rd rounder Jordan Mills in the 5th. Bushrod can be thrown into this conversation as well..... What more do you want? Did you want them to pay a few mill to sign another big name RT? Possibly missing out on Martellus Bennett in the process. I don't know about you guys but I love the Bennett signing. When did you wanna see them take an OT in the draft? OGs are the vocal point of the OL for Kromer, don't think they were passing on him to take who? Melenik Watson was the next OT taken at 42(2nd round)...Did you not want Bostic in the 2nd? Terron Armstead was the next OT taken at 75(3rd round)...Did you not want the huge value Greene presented us in the 4th to take Oday Abushi? Both Abushi and Mills are both projected 3rd rounders so there's not much difference there. I mean come on now, the no competition theory is out the window. The Tice/Webb favoritism theory is out the window as well. There will be a battle and whoever wins, wins.
  22. I was just touching on the last little comment...I thought it was pretty clear that there would be a lot of competition...Jonathon Scott who a lot of people here have called solid....Jordan Mills is someone people here already like...and I wouldn't be shocked to hear that James Brown or Kyle Long are getting shots at RT. Then you've also got guys like Lindeman, Cory Brandon, and possibly even Britton (who used to play OT for the Jags). I mean how much competition do you want? How are they gonna get enough reps in for everyone.
  23. He was average, and based of the things we know about this coaching staff I think he'll be better than average this year.
  24. Balta is correct...what would be the point of bringing in so many lineman if there won't be a competition? Yes, the article is actually saying that Webb isn't the worst OT in the league and that he was actually pretty solid. But he's Chicagos favorite whipping boy and there's no stopping the JHate Nation.
