  1. I forgot that it's pointless to argue with you people on Chicagos favorite whipping boy....Funny that he's one of only 2 players on the line to still have a job ATM. And the Tice love child theory is out of the window.
  2. Thing is despite what everyone wants to believe Webb wasn't the one benefiting from the extra protection so that argument is moot. At least in the 2 games I solely focused on him he was stuck on an island 80%+ of the time. All signs point to Forte being even more involved in the pass game this year which forces even more pressure on the LBs to cover him. I also think leaving in extra protectors in some cases is even worse than sending out 5 receivers. More receivers out, the less pass rushers coming in. Trestman talked about this early on.
  3. Webbs problem was caused by LBs in space. LBs last year had nothing to worry about with the Bears not possessing a TE worth a damn or Forte being a real threat out of the backfield. This year LBs will have to wait and keep an eye on what Forte and hopefully a FB/HBack will be doing before they can attack the QB. I think Webb will be fine matched up against DEs and the bull rush (something Carimi wasn't able to handle). He also won't be left on an island with a teams best pass rusher.
  4. That is an article from his time with the Bears. What I'm getting at is in his time in Denver he apparently had a quick release, I've seen a lot of articles from his Denver days that said he had a quick release. That's where I question the systems he been in here in Chicago. I think going back to the WCO will work wonders for him. I'm drunk right now so I'm homer enough to say this, I think Chicago can compete for the title THIS YEAR.....I would be legite `shocked if we dont make the playoffs.
  5. So Jay certainly has it in him to speed things up. He was showing a quick release in the WCO in Denver, where he shined. Then he came here and his release apparently got longer. I wonder if that is just due to being a product of the system in Denver/Chicago. I have all the faith in the world in Jay to shine back in a WCO. His success (that I believe he'll have) may be credited to Trestman but I believe it will be attributed to the WCO.
  6. Rex Grossman is the wrong answer...and with 3 strikes the talkbears community losses. The correct answer to the question of which QB who is available to start for our Chicago Bears whos quick release was once compared with other elite/HoF QBs is.......Jay Cutler!...lol it's a trick question =p Jay Cutler's release will be compared to John Elway's. Dan Marino also was timed, along with Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Brett Favre. According to NFL network producer Mark Loomis, analyst Cris Collinsworth provided the inspiration for measuring the various QBs' releases. "We were talking the first game of the year about quarterbacks' releases - who was quick and how important that was," Loomis said. "Then it occurred to us that we could find out a way to measure them by using video tape." The results? "What we've found so far is that the top quarterbacks in the league - the Mannings, Bradys and Favres - all seem to have that consistently quick release, and Jay Cutler certainly falls in that range."
  7. Ill give you guys another clue, he grew up in Indiana.
  8. Wrong answer, one more guess then I'll reveal the answer.
  9. Trent Edwards is the wrong answer. Guess again
  10. With all the talk of quick releases and it being a slow time I think its time for a little game. This guy is available right now to play QB for our Chicago Bears. With this quote taken from respected NFL mind Cris Collinsworth I want you to guess who Cris is talking about....Remember, this guy is available to play qb for our Bears.... ?????'s release will be compared to John Elway's. Dan Marino also was timed, along with Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Brett Favre. According to NFL network producer Mark Loomis, analyst Cris Collinsworth provided the inspiration for measuring the various QBs' releases. "What we've found so far is that the top quarterbacks in the league - the Mannings, Bradys and Favres - all seem to have that consistently quick release, and ???? certainly falls in that range." Name that QB? I think this guy may have been the product of a bad system...Much like Sedrick Ellis was saying.
  11. Are we moving from a 1 gap to 2 gap or something? If the defense stays the same then they should be fine.
  12. Thanks Stinger, the article is exactly what I thought it was. I'm not sure about him being the best DT, Henry Melton is damn good, but I can certainly see hm being an upgrade over Izzy inside. And I was a big Izzy fan too.
  13. I don't expect a huge step back but I can maybe see a small step back. This is pretty much the same defense as last year sans Urlacher and Roach, and we've gotten faster at those 2 positions. Schematically it's also supposed to be pretty much the same. I think I remember hearing that Mel was learning our lingo and such from last years team so that they can keep it as close to the same as possible.
  14. Can anyone post the article from the trib about Ellis? I've apparently reached my 5 article limit there. It looks like Ellis wasn't allowed to do what he does best in NOLA and that's get after the QB.

    Brown ascending

No surprise here. We all remember he was thought of highly going into the draft before the whole marijuana red flag was thrown at him. It'll be interesting to see what the starting line ends up being. I'd love to see Slausson move back to OC (where he played early in his career) and then have Long and Brown at the 2 OG positions.
  16. Thing is we're supposed to be running a very similar defense so I don't think there will be a lot to take in. If they were going from a tampa 2 to say a 3-4 then things might take a bit longer to gel.
  17. The circus ends behind a good starter. That's why I wanted him in Chicago because I believe Jay will be a good starter.
  18. I've always had a sense of humor just never found the need to throw it out there, I like to pick and choose my spots The team is playing 7s right now and I don't have the cardio for 7s so I won't be playing again till mid july. I actually had to decide against PFF. A few days before they game me an assignment I got a real job. Games take 7-12 hours to break down, with work I didn't have the time for that.
  19. look at my next post, I was joking...I thought my views on him were known enough for you guys to know I was kidding. I agree with your above statement.
  20. He'll love the nightlife out there.
  21. Can anyone find out if he was largely double teamed the last few years?? Something tells me he was....That won't be the case here if he gets lined up with Pep and Mel.
  22. For what its worth, Trestmans last successful offense in Oakland (Gannons MVP year) didn't feature a pass catching full back and the TEs combined for 59 catches for 622 yards (Bennett alone went for 55 and 626 last year). So I think we'll be fine without him. We don't quite have Jerry Rice and Tim Brown like that team did but we got Marshall who can put up comparable numbers to the 92/1200 that Rice put up. I don't think Alshon will put up numbers like Brown did that year (81/930) but the Bears can make up for that with M. Bennett and whoever ends up being the 2nd TE being better than what Oakland had.
  23. Lol I was joking because I was such a supporter for him coming to the bears.
  24. We'll you'll get to see what both can do again both in Bears uniforms.
