Without a doubt I'd say. It's one thing to get busted with some weed but it's a whole different level what he has done. I would be shocked to see him back in the league. Any time soon anyway.

Oh stop it, just because I'm young and haven't watched film of Red Grange or know Papa Bear Halas winning percentage doesn't make me less of a fan. I know of them, I know they were great in there day but people of my generation see Brian Urlacher (This was in response to him, not Forte) as the face of the Bears so I can totally see why they have him on their Mt. Rushmore. Also didn't Ditka say something about losers living in the past?
-
Or they're youngsters like myself. I didn't have the privlage of watching guys like Red Grange, Dick Butkus, or be around for the coaching eras of George Halas and most of Ditka. Urlacher for my generation was THE GUY, so I can see younger folks throwing his name on there. That said if I only put players up there that I saw play the list would be ugly.

Webb, Tebow, Mark Harrison, Trestman.

There's no direct quotes or anything but here's an article about how they may visit him down the road. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,0,268701.story I would hope once his foot heals that he's given a shot.
-
Also interesting that Mills played RG.
-
I posted about this in the minicamp thread. I think it's a pretty cool tool to help the QBs out.
-
Because of a foot injury. He is still an option.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BJ72AgCCcAAXPxo.jpg:large That is pretty dope! I wonder how many other teams do that? The film they get with that should be a good teaching tool. You can really learn what the QB sees and how the receivers make their cuts which should be helpful in a WCO where you wanna get that ball out right as they're making their cut.

If I knew Kromer didn't like Carimi/Brown at OG then I would have gone Long without hindsight. I know Bostic and Greene have a better chance at winning a starting job over Williams/Anderson then Amerson would over Tillman/Jennings but really what is the difference between the 2 positions? Williams and Anderson are both damn good players and I expect them to play all year unless they get injured. So what is the difference between drafting Bostic (backup at this point) vs drafting Amerson? At least Amerson would see time in nickel situations. Hayden is expected to play 450-500 snaps per rotoworld....I would have liked to have those snaps go to a better player. What happens if Tillman/Jennings get hurt? We're then left with Tillman or Jennings on one side, Hayden on the other and then who in the slot? DJ Moore is gone. Bowman hasn't done anything in 3 years. Then we have some unknowns in McManis, Frey and Lewis.

Forte Yards to Freedom is my go to. A play on Sublime song 40 oz to Freedom.

I went with Amerson. To me CB is the exact same situation as LB. We needed youth at the position and future starters because all our starters at the position are FAs next year. The difference between LBs and CBs though is that a CB will see the field this year as a nickel whereas a LB probably only sees the field if there's an injury. Drafting Amerson gives us an upgrade over Hayden and it also gives us flexibility in the future. Potentially moving Peanut to FS is something I would love to see to stretch out his career and get him around the ball more.

I understand that and that's exactly why I said I'm still iffy on Long in this scenario. I went with Long though due to his versatility. It's kind of a lame pick but I'll stick with it.
-
After a knee jerk reaction the Long pick made a lot of sense. Basically at that point in the draft it was him or Warford if they wanted one of the "sure thing" OGs in the draft. They had no way of knowing Warford was gonna last as long as he did. I didn't have him on my draft board 5 minutes before because I thought we'd be fine with the Brown/Carimi/Britton winner opposite of Slausson at OG. The Bears didn't agree with that so I have no problem with them drafting Long. Looking at it in hindsight though I'm still up in the air about 1st round knowing Warford was there in the 2nd. I went with Long but I'm still iffy on it. Floyd/Warford/Greene certainly looks like a solid first 3 picks. I will however disagree on taking 2 LBs. My thoughts on that is maybe they just couldn't pass up Greene in the 4th, which I can understand. In hindsight though I would have just taken Greene.

I could have sworn I read something about it in the past but I look to be wrong...There are articles out there like the following... http://www.whas11.com/news/local/Indiana-s...-178517661.html (Senator supports it) and http://wfpl.org/post/indiana-state-police-...ize-and-tax-pot (Police chief supports it) make me believe it will be legal in a year or 2...(yes until then it will still be illegal, I understand that)
-
Here's something that's sure to give you guys a laugh... Bears RT J'Marcus Webb has sobered up since his February arrest for marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Webb has "taken the time to get sober and to remain sober," and expects sobriety to "definitely help me on the field and off." Still only 24 years old -- he turns 25 in August -- Webb is entering a contract year. The Bears anticipate Webb's top-end tools translating to strong pass protection at right tackle.
-
I assume there's no rush on Long since he won't participate in OTAs. Nice to have all the eligible rookies get signed before mini camp.

RIP Momma Sweetness.

With "us" taking Long in the 1st Warford is out of the picture....This is why "us" as a collective group will struggle to agree from round to round. Warford would make perfect sense if we went a different direction in the first. Me personally, knowing Greene is there in the 4th and me not thinking 2 LBs was that necessary, I would have to go with Amerson here. He's an upgrade to all the nickle possibilities we have this year IMO, and he gives the Bears flexibility for next year with all 5 of our corners hitting FA. I would have got 1 LB this year and 1 LB next year. Groom Greene inside and then you can find a day 1 SLB in the 2nd or 3rd round next year...Or simply resign Williams or Anderson.

There are plenty of people already fighting for it. Indiana was 1 vote away from legalizing it last year and there's a good chance it gets passed this year. Chicago has already made it less of a crime. Yes, it's illegal now and the estimated 1.4 million people that do it in the US shouldn't be doing it, I get that..But we do...Within the next couple years I can totally see it legal everywhere. It's already legal in 18 states and pending legislation in 10 more. I don't wanna make this a filibuster thread or anything because this is a strictly football message board so I don't wanna bring politics into it. I'm gonna once again TRY to stay out of this thread so it doesn't go on forever.

Some players do it because it helps them deal with pain in a more natural way then pain killers. Whether or not this is the case with Webb we don't know. If an athlete wants to smoke for those reasons behind closed doors then that's fine by me. Marijuana being illegal while booze isn't is ridiculous. I'm sorry, I'm a supporter for legalization. You can burn me all you want for that statement but nothing is gonna change that. I'm gonna try to restrain from commenting on this because I can go on forever.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/...5247,full.story Marshall has a connection to a "nondescript setting where pro athletes could hang out and bring women while visiting Orlando — away from the view of the media." that was described as a "home as a place NFL pros go "if they want to step out on their girlfriends and their wives ... outside of anywhere else where media might catch them."... And there were "reports that high-quantity drug deals were transacted there.". The house was involved in a shooting, Marshall was not involved in that from what I can tell but there could be some possible backlash if the house was indeed involved in high-quantity drug trafficking and Brandon is also married so there may be a divorce or some marital problems in the future for Brandon. I'm pretty drunk right now so I may be missing some key parts of the story....Somethin to talk about.

The conversation at hand right now is Carimi at RT...So if Carimi isn't given a shot at RT will you consider Kromer a bad coach??
-
Well we supposedly have one of the best OL coaches in football and if he says that Carimi is strictly an OG then I'll take his word for it. I also can't imagine them not giving him an opportunity to compete for the RT position, esp with Long and Slausson being close to locks at OG IMO.
-
Well if the staff thinks Carimi is nothing more than an OG then are you already gonna say this staff is awful for not giving Carimi a chance? I noted that his competition was garbage, but given what we had (that's the key) yes I believe he gave us the best chance to win. Maybe I'm giving the staff to much respect when I say I highly doubt they're going to throw someone out there who is performing worse than another player. That just sounds foolish to even think about...The bold part is exactly what is going to happen, he's earned the right to compete and that's exactly what he'll do, with 2-5 other people.
