  1. And my point is that it does happen, players do smoke. If Webb was the only one ever to do it then yes I'll call him a moron. But since this isn't any kind of new development I won't hold it against him. He was a moron for speeding with that shit on him yes. Here's a great Forbes article on athletes who smoke. http://www.forbes.com/2009/02/04/michael-p...ana_larsen.html Notable names like Micheal Phelps, Kareem Abdul Jabaar, Charles Oakley, Rasheed Wallace, and2x super bowl winner Mark Stepnowski. Other names like Randy Moss and Warren Sapp, both HoFers, Percy Harvin, and Desean Jackson have all been linked to marijuana use I know this doesn't matter with you old school cats but it is absolutely prevalent in todays game. Here's another nice article about how yes, it's still illegal in the NFL but how it shouldn't be...Here's a good point in the article http://www.thenation.com/blog/171516/nfls-...flict-cannabis# I'm done talking though cause there is no point in arguing this since this isn't stating fact or fiction but it's rather opinion so this could go on forever and it's not worth it.
  2. You ever think for a second that he did give us the best chance to win? Yes the competition between Webb and the rest of the LT prospects has been minimal but thats more the fault of JA for not drafting someone to compete after the Williams project failed. This year we have anywhere between 3-6 guys that can compete at RT. Whoever wins the job will have earned it.
  3. Which is why my vote went to Kyle Long. I was wrong about a Carimi/Brown battle being good enough for the other OG spot with Slausson. I know it's a bit confusing with me arguing for Eifert/Trufant but I'm all in with the Long pick.
  4. Bengals drafted Eifert when they already had Gresham, Eagles drafted Ertz with Brent Celek, and James Casey there, Escobar went to the Cowboys with Witten on the team....If the Bears thought Brown/Carimi could have got the job done at OG (which I had originally thought, I have no prob being wrong) I would not have had any problem with them taking Eifert in the first....I don't the Bengals, Eagles, or Cowboys were stupid for taking those guys....The NFL is moving to a 2 TE league and I just don't think ERod will be anything more than an HBack. CB can be viewed exactly the same way LB was viewed. Do Bostic/Greene have a better chance of starting day 1 than lets say Trufant does? Ya, sure, but if Anderson and Williams play like they're capable of then they probably won't see the field making them nothing more than depth/future players. Trufant would have saw time this year and offered up the same flexibility drafting a LB would have given us. Drafting Trufant would have given the Bears the opportunity to either move Tillman to a FS spot or let one of Tillman/Jennings walk next year. Once again, I don't know why I'm putting much effort into this argument seeing as I voted for Long lol.
  5. Like I said in the other thread the bears have plenty of competition for him at RT. Scott, who some have said looked good at RT. Mills, who was projected to be a 3rd round pick and already thinks he's the starting RT. Carimi, who with Long being drafted should get the opportunity to compete outside unless the staff continues to believe he's strictly a OG. Long is well, a Long shot but if someone like Brown, Britton, or Carimi steps it up at OG with Slausson then he could get a look at RT. James Brown also played OT in college so he could get a look there as well. There will be no handing out of any job I suspect. Webb in this article said something about the best 5 guys will get the starting spots and there's a ton of guys competing for those 5 spots. Also to touch base on your other post....I defended his play after watching film, and I defended his choice to better himself...How is that defending everything he does. If I report comes out about him skipping the Special Olympics I will scold him for that....I already called him dumb for speeding with pot on him. I just don't think in todays society that pot use by athletes is that big a deal. If he was smoking right before the game then ya that's moronic but I HIGHLY doubt that's the case.
  6. Come on now, whoever wins the job wins the job. There isn't going to be any Mike Tice pet projects going on this year, at least not with Webb anyway. There is A TON of competition for RT this year between Webb, Scott, Mills, Carimi?, and maybe even Brown and Long who both played some OT in college. The winner of that competition will give the Bears the best chance to win.
  7. Nothing says Sunday Night Football like a Costa Rican!

  9. I'll start posting above the quotes I'm responding to, just for you buddy. I really don't have a beef with anyone here. Sure, all the Webb stuff is getting highly annoying but oh wells.
  10. We really have no clue what the offense is gonna look like. They could have very well run an ace package as their base offense and run out Marshall-Eifert-Bennett-Jeffery as the 4 receivers. I voted for Long but that dynamic right there would have been something to get excited about. As far as the nickle goes, those guys still play a big roll, esp in todays passing league. When matched up with the WRs of, lets say, the Pack I'd feel really comfortable about having Jennings-Peanut-Trufant matched up with their guys....But once again I voted for Long so I'm not even sure why I'm making the argument lol (perhaps because its slow).
  11. What's going to be different from this mini camp and the camp they had before the draft where Carimi was being called a guard? A "smokescreen" doesn't make much sense.
  12. Aww, real mature Jason. This Webb shit is getting old, I can't wait to see him beat out your boy Gabe Carimi who probably isn't even going to get a look at RT. I think I'm too young for this board. My views don't go along with the old school guys on here. Would I like to have a smoke free team, ya that'd be nice, but in todays society the chances of that are probably slim. I realize this and as soon you guys do you'll be doing a lot less bitchin and moaning about a guy smoking. It doesn't matter who the damn player is I won't get worked up about him smoking and I damn sure will applaud him for trying to better himself.
  13. Apparently Long won't be allowed to participate in OTAs. Ian Rapoport ✔ @RapSheet The @NFL's graduation rule that says rookies can't participate in OTAs until post-graduation snags a few every year -- Andrew Luck last year Ian Rapoport ✔ @RapSheet Among rookies whose graduation schedules mean no OTAs: #Dolphins Dion Jordan, #Bears Kyle Long, #Falcons Desmond Trufant, #Eagles Zach Ertz
  14. I really looking forward to hearing how all the receivers are looking. Hoping to hear at least one of Wilson, Harrison, or Anderson look really good. Also interested in hearing what sorts of things ERod is doing.
  15. It was a play on words gak, don't take it personal.
  16. Id go with Amendola, the value in the last round is fantastic. Is the talkbears2 league gonna be active again this year?
  17. While I agree (I stopped smoking my 2nd year of rugby and I can feel my lungs allowing me to do more), the presence of weed in all major sports is there and there is no denying it. I meant no disrespect by calling them the fuzz, I was just being comical. I know it's their job and I'm not debating that, nor am I hating on them for doing their job. I'm saying if you have to have the stuff on you you can't give the police a reason to pull you over. That's the moronic part of it. Also let me throw it out there, I work as a security guard so I have no problem with authority. I would be a cop if I didn't catch a felony when I was 18.
  18. Well in hindsight Warford was there in the 2nd but the Bears can't make their pick in hindsight, which is why my vote actually went to Long...I was just pointing it out that those position, though not starters, are still key players.
  19. But thats where our agreement ends on the subject. To call him a moron for trying to better himself is, well, moronic. As a smoker I know there are times where you can't avoid having the stuff on you, the moronic part was going over the speed limit with it on you. If you have it on you, you can't give the fuzz any reason to pull you over.
  20. To me, a nickel CB, slot WR, and 2nd TE (if the team utilizes 2), are basically starting players...Or at the very least important parts of a team.
  21. Knowing Warford was there in the 2nd made this a tougher decision but with Longs versatility I stuck with the Bears pick in Kyle Long. Knowing how Kromer likes to work the OL from the inside out and with the Bears apparently not liking Brown/Carimi at OG then Long is the right pick. I was somewhat against drafting a LB in the first since I think DJ and James will be more than competent there this year, and I'd hate to see the Bears draft a non starter 2 years in a row so that's why I didn't go Ogletree. Shariff Floyd is kind of the same way, he may have been able to beat out Paea to be the day 1 starter but I'm not so sure about that. I'm still on that TE high and would have loved Eifert as I thought he'd be a real difference maker but I'll stick with Long here.
  22. You can't state that as truth. Maybe it affected his play on the field because he wasn't training as much or as hard as he can. The article didn't release any direct quotes about how it affected his play on the field so we don't know what was meant by that. I'm aware that it's illegal and I'm aware that this isn't the Ivy League we're talking about here. Maybe (probably) it's because I'm young like the guys in the league and a smoker myself but I can care less if players wanna smoke. It's not as bad as you guys wanna think it is.
  23. According to you and Lomas Brown, half the league is morons. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8292...ayers-smoke-pot

Agreed. I know a lot of guys on here are sour on the whole PFF thing but Slausson has had a positive rating the past 3 years. He didn't give up a single sack last year. He's a solid player.
  25. Wait a second, I thought Tice was Webbs boy and he's the only reason why Webb has a job?? So you mean he wasn't actually handed the job like most suggest? Gakman, you seem to be the Webb hater version of me. I defend his ability to be successful in the right situation to no end while you are trying to defend your thought that Webb is a moron to no end. It's simply not true in this case. How can anyone trying to better themselves be a moron for that reason. Was he a moron for smoking before, you can say that. I won't though because I believe the reports I've read saying over 50% of the league smokes. Was he a moron for getting caught? Ya, sure, I'll even call him a moron for that. But can you call him a moron for trying to better himself, absolutely not.
