Have you ever watched a second of rugby in your life? Sure the ball carrier defers the hit to try to get twisted back around but that doesn't mean the tackler is gonna allow it. Pads vs no pads, constant contact, no mamsy pansy rules. We've had ex football players come out to play for us or play on the other team and they agree that the physicality of the 2 sports is much different. I'm not gonna argue it past this point because until you step onto the pitch you will have no idea. Google can only tell you so much.

Hmm, in what thread did I do this? Did you attack me first? If you question me first then all bets are off.
  3. Lol not only am I not old enough to remember them, I wasn't even born yet!! I was born in 87. But my pops did have the Super Bowl Shuffle on VHS and that is what sprung my love for the Bears. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v290/def...zps62fa276d.jpg This may work for you sir.

I really don't mind if you reply to my posts, I enjoy a good debate. Just never question my "sharpness", or never question anyones "sharpness" for that matter, it's childish and it's something that should not be done on a message board. You can just offer up your opinion like I do mine and we'll be just fine. Exactly. And to this day I will still defend my point on the whole Webb vs Bushrod situation. That point being if you give Webb the kind of protection Bushrod had in Nola that he would be just as good as Bushrod or at the very least he would be more highly thought of than he has been here in chicago. I profiled the type of protection Bushrod got on here pretty extensively here to further validate my point but no one here was taking it and you all were taking it as I was saying more than I really was....I think AZ was the only one who really understood my point. Much like we won't be able to see if Tebow>McCown we won't be able to see if Webb would hold up even better than he did when he gets constant help from his LG. Thank you sir, you are exactly right. If someone offers up a valid argument that stumps me I will admit that I am wrong or acknowledge that I didn't think of it that way.

I'm ok with my opinion being different from "what the Bears believe" or the Bears not "doing what I say". But this is a message board, on message boards, esp in the offseason when there's no football to discuss we offer up opinions, and then we defend those opinions am I right? It just so happens that my defense goes further than just "OMG this guy sucks" or "OMG this guy is the shit" or "freak so and so", I back up my opinion with all I've got. Why? Because I'm not a sheep who's gonna follow everyone elses opinion because other people disagree with me. Like I said in the new Cutler thread, I relate to Cutler a lot in that I can care less what other people say about me. But it's when my "sharpness" gets questioned by a guy who made a thread asking people to post pictures of tits and ass and then used the word "Class" when someone obliged, that is when I care, or take offense. It's the pot calling the kettle black and it really bothers me and I will not let it slide without making a remark of my displeasure.

Just stop it. You of all people should never question anyones sharpness. I'm gonna leave it at that. If you continue to try to question me I will go off and I will get banned....Which is cool with me because I feel my IQ drop here quite often.
  7. Can teams even pay players over slot anymore?
  8. I've always liked Jay. As a 25 year old who had to live through some awful bears teams Jay Cutler is easily one of my favorite athletes of my lifetime. I love his attitude and it's very similar to mine. HE's got that oh well we'll get him next time type attitude you need. I wish I was around for the "Punky QB" McMahon era just to see what made him the punky QB, I feel as though I'd be a big fan of his.

Football is getting less and less manly ever year....Its why I play rugby
  10. scs787

    Timothy Tebow

Until I hear quotes from Phil or Marc I won't ever believe "sources".....It probably doesn't happen but I will forever think that we have a better chance to win with Tim Tebow than we do with Josh McCown. You said in your other post that he can't bring a team back from behind...You do realize that he has the best QBR of ANYONE in the final 5 min of the game right? Sure he's no where near that QBR for the first 55 but if the defense keeps it close then the final 5 min of the game becomes "Tebow Time" where he puts the offense on his shoulders and makes things happen either with his feet or yes, with his arm. He's clutch, and he wins football games.

    Timothy Tebow

And ya know what? Those fans are idiots and shouldn't be listened to. I know Chicago is filled with meathead fans like that but the front offices of the Bears and the Bulls since you brought them up (Or really any pro team) are not stupid enough to listen to these ignorant meatheads. Should we care what fans want? Nope.

    Timothy Tebow

You're exactly right, and Teddy Bruchi said just about the same thing. Said he'd love to see Tebow go to the Patriots because there would be no controversy there with him sitting behind Brady. Now I know Cutler is no Tom Brady, but I expect a good year out of Jay so that should shut up anyone clamoring for Tebow to start.

You're* right, we could. If someone else wants to question my sharpness I'll be ok with that. But to be questioned by some people on here is a laugher.

We have this conversation all too much around here. Just because he was a tackle in college doesn't mean he doesn't fit better at OG. I'm just relaying what I've read on a few scouting reports. With Long potentially moving outside and Bushrod on the team I think the possibility is that's where he gets tested at. Slausson at OC was brought up because someone asked if any of our guys have played OC and I replied yes, Slausson.

    Timothy Tebow

Look at what I replied to again...Or look at the context of my comments (Something that I apparently don't do?)

    Timothy Tebow

Actually his delivery is the thing Trestman compared between the 2.

    Timothy Tebow

Like Anthony Calvillo, the best QB out there who Trestman compared to Tebow?

Thank you captain obvious. Webbs a FA next year as well....I hear that Mills projects better as an OG so who knows maybe next year we go with Bushrod-Brown-?-Mills-Long...Perhaps thats the plan, maybe minus Brown.

Still put up 285 yards in that game to put them in a position to win that game. Also watched him put up 366 yards in the playoffs.

    Timothy Tebow

Yup, I saw him beat the Bears a few years back with the intangibles he brings, and I just posted his highlight video from his rookie season a view posts ago....You catch that one? I also watched him in a few games in college where he ripped through the NFL prospect league that is the SEC. I agree with your statement on bringing in some young talent that can be used as trade bait but for this year we dont have that, we have Josh McCown. What future gains do we have with 33 year old Josh McCown as our backup? If Trestman can continue to work on Tebows mechanics and he gets a shot due to a Cutler injury you have a much better shot at trading him vs trading Josh McCown.
  22. scs787

    Timothy Tebow

He's still on waivers until 4pm today. Teams would have to pay his whole contract if they claim him off waivers. No one is gonna pay him that but I wouldn't be surprised if a few teams who need a backup QB take a chance on him. All Lloyd said was he wasn't sure his style of play will hold up in the NFL...This was before the whole read option in the NFL trend became relevant.
  23. scs787

    Timothy Tebow

None of it is his fault really, it's all the media.
  24. I don't see why he can't be utilized in the slot. Slot Wrs don't have to be small burners. Case and point is TEs often being utilized in the slot in todays NFL.
  25. scs787

    Timothy Tebow

You know why that circus was created?? Because he wins, and he's one of the most passionate leaders to ever come into the NFL. People want to root for that guy. The media has just overblown the whole Tebow thing and has made him one of the most annoying players in the league. It's to no fault of his own. All you guys wanna do is bring up his completion percentage, which is valid, but not one of the Tebow haters has brought up or addressed his intangibles. He is an excellent leader who will give the team a spark and he knows how to run the ball. If you get teams worried about him running the ball then it opens the D up for Tebow to make the easy passes that he can make. And when that happens thats when he makes the throws like he did in the following video.
