  1. My buddy actually sent me a message a week ago saying Kiper had us taking Long. This may not have been as much as a reach as we all thought....esp with the big drop off after him and Warford.
  2. After hearing what I've heard about Long I think he'll be moving over to RT after the season so I wouldn't want Watson. Jones is a guy who I don't think will contribute much this coming up year since I hear he will start the season on the PUP list. Schwenke would be nice but there's a chance, albeit a small one that he's there in the 4th. I'd like to see them go BPA from the DT/CB group....Unless they really do want another big dynamic TE then I'd take Ertz or Escobar.
  3. Yea, there's a lot of talent still left out there....The one position where there isn't a lot of talent left is OG. So while Long may have been a bit of a "reach" he was absolutely the right pick if the Bears didn't see Carimi or Brown as starting OGs. Round 2 is gonna be tough to predict. I think the drop off at CB past those 3 guys is higher than it is at all the other positions so if one of those guys are there I'd probably take him. With a first year offensive minded coach I wouldn't be surprised to see a TE/WR, whatever he values higher, in the 2nd though as well.
  4. They can always draft an OLB later on this draft (Zaviar Gooden PlZ) and go ILB in the first round next year while DJ Williams and James Anderson, who are more than competent LBs, play out this season....I can also see 1, or both, come back next year.
  5. Well the quote in the OP says "He's immediately a starting guard" so they think he can start right away. A year or 2 doesn't really help us this year if they don't think highly of Carimi/Brown.
  6. Had some time to think on the way home and I feel a little better about it. Perhaps I'm forcing myself to but I did come up with some logic behind it. The way I'm taking it is the Bears didn't think as highly on Gabe Carimi as I thought they did, or as I do. I also remembered the whole Kromer works the line from the inside out so he needs a good OG tandem. That said if you look at who is left after Long at OG the list pretty much only goes 1 deep with Warford with Dallas Thomas as an honorable mention. Those guys very easily could be gone at #50 and then we're left with some guy named Matt Summers-Gavin as NFL.coms top rated OG.
  7. Ouch....and Floyd goes to the Queens.
  8. You mean like Kyle Long. He wasn't a "here" player either.
  9. Would have much rather reached for Warford if they wanted to reach. I guess his versatility to potentially move to RT (something he has very little experience with) is a plus.
  10. Hopefully his NFL career goes better than his MLB career...He was in the White Sox farm system for those who didn't know.
  11. What happened to BPA?? I guess Jason will be happy....Wonder if he plays RT or OG.
  12. If its Floyd I think he starts over Paea....Peppers-Melton-Floyd-Wotton is scary
  13. I think its gonna be Floyd. That would be incredible.
  14. Same could be said with LT and one of the guard spots. Bushrod and Slausson are virtual locks.

    Te'o

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 5m The #Vikings and #Bears love Manti Te'o. If Minnesota wants to grab him, they'll need to jump up over Chicago. That's what they plan to do Hopefully this happens and the queens take Te'o so we don't have to worry about him and all the bitching from Bears fans (including myself).
  16. For once I don't think safety is a position we need to concern ourselves with.
  17. There are tweets floating around that SF really wants to trade up to get Richardson...If he does indeed fall to 20 then we may have our trade partner...hopefully....
  18. A lot of Walterfootball drafts have been posted here so I reckon Ill throw up their last one. 1R- Sheldon Richardson DT Mizzu- If the Bears do go BPA Richardson looks like that guy based on the WF mock. We all know I'm high on the Bears getting a DT but I've wanted to wait a bit longer to take one. If Richardson is there at 20 though he'd be tough to pass up. 2R- Arthur Brown LB K State- Once again I'd like to wait till the 4th to get a LB like Zaviar Gooden (if possible) but with Brown getting some first round grades I guess he'd be tough to pass at #50. 4R- BW Webb CB William and Mary- The level of competition here kinda scares me with Webb but he still could have some good potential and IMO we have a need at CB so I guess I'd be ok with this pick. 5R- Reid Fragel OT OSU- I have him in my mock as well so I of course would be ok with him..He's a bit raw but it's my personal belief that Webb will handle RT this year and that would allow Kromer to coach him up for the year. 6R- Chris Gragg TE Arkansas- Fauria is still available and I'd rather have him but I'd be ok with Gragg here. Thoughts on WFs final draft?
  19. We'll just have to a agree to disagree on this. John Jenkins is there when I picked Williams in this mock and I'd be happy with him too, I'm just playing favorites and picking him over Jenkins because he played rugby. As a rugby player I know you need a bit of tenacity in you, you need a good motor, and you need to be a little nasty. That's what I want in my big DT. From watching some game tape I see that in him and I think he has more room to grow over a guy like John Jenkins. I see a guy who teams are going to be forced to double team which opens things up for the rest of the line. Or put it this way, I think there's a reason why Williams is the 5th ranked DT while Jenkins is the 8th and Akeem Spence, who you suggested is ranked 12th.
  20. Honestly, no, past the 3-technique I didn't know the whole "Technique"-verbiage, but google knows all so I just asked google. After looking it up the 5-T is a 3-4 DE (Which btw Mike Mayock has him ranked as the #5 3-4 DE in the draft) so I'm not sure why this even pertains to the Bears DL since we play a 4-3. As for us not drafting him because we have Paea, who do we have on this roster if Paea gets hurt? Does Paea play every snap? Shouldn't we rotate guys in on the DL to keep the big guys fresh? We don't have Izzy and his long arms to rotate in to help in the run game. We don't have the insurance of Big Toe anymore. With Paea out of the lineup or interior defense against the run will take a huge hit IMO.
  21. He can be a 1-technique NT(a 4-3 NT), which is basically what Paea is. Mel Tucker had big ol Terrance Knighton playing DT for him in the 4-3. Remember when we had Traylor and Washington up front?? Were either of those guy a 5-T or even a 3-T??
  22. You're right, I am going to say that. NTs often have 2 guys blocking them leaving the 3T DT, the faster, thinner guys to work 1v1 to make all the plays. NTs do the dirty work that doesn't show up in the box score. You also have to look at who he played for. More often than not teams facing Bama were coming from behind and they have to throw the ball. His 2 best games came in close games against LSU and Texas A&M
  23. I know they're playing a terrible team and he was virtually unblocked but look at how quick he gets to the QB. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-Hqbl-0HVM Here he is vs good ranked opponents. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBbTLxLiicA I see a guy who can eventually take Paeas job.

    Dream Mock

    1. Not a fan of Fluker, I think he's basically Gabe Carimi. A fantastic run blocker who's gonna struggle against speed rushers. 2.Like I said in my mock, I'd like to wait for an LB but if Ogletree is there at 50 I can't pass him up 4. If Schwenke isn't there I can dig Frederick. 5. Looks like a guy they can get in the 6th. 6. Rather get a DT than a DE. Whether we like it or not SMC is a DE, Wooton looks good, Peppers is Peppers, and I think Kyle Moore is gonna surprise a lot of people. So I don't think we need to go 5 deep at DE.
