  1. I turned it on late but so far Denard Robinson hasn't looked half bad.

I highlighted the things in the posts that matter. The holding onto the ball part is judgmental, but the fact that we were the only team stupid enough to play Matthews 1v1 is not. They see him play all year and see him get double teamed every game.... Carimi @ LT?? Dear Lord! You've gotta be kidding me....Right? All this time bashing Webb and you want Gabe Carimi at LT??? Webb+Levitre>Carimi+Levitre So you want Carimi-Levitre-Garza-Cooper-?? Webb?? Scott?? I'm sorry but that honestly sounds worse to me.

The problem with that is free agency is before the draft so you can't prepare for who's gonna be there. Chances are Johnson will be gone though, the guys who are better than Webb are gonna cost a pretty penny, and if you go OL/OL in the draft then your left with a 4th and 5th round TE/LB in the draft(which I guess isn't that bad but still not ideal). I blow my load on Levitre, draft Cooper and a project in the 5th then call it a day.

From what i see it's good, but it's very top heavy. The draft has 3 guys that are sure thing day 1 starters, and all 3 are said to be a lock to go in the top 15. In free agency you've got Albert and Beatty, then maybe Dunlap and Long as upgrades. I still stand by Bushrod not being much of an upgrade at his price. Beatty is said to be a high priority for the Giants and it hasn't been set in stone that Albert won't be tagged/resigned. King Dunlap is a guy who was a backup but played well when Jason Peters went down with an injury. He's probably looking at a contract that's more in our price range if they do decide to grab a LT. I'll stand by Webb though. I think if you put a better LG next to him and quit putting him out on an island he'll be just fine.

He's replaceable, no doubt. Will it be hard to replace him, IMO yes. Which is why I think he'll be back next year. I also think he takes another step forward with some actual help on the line.
  6. Doug Farrar works for yahoo sports so he may know a thing or 2....The way the line played it wouldn't surprise me one bit. One thing I think we've learned from Trestman so far is that he will have his team prepared.

Whatever man. like balta said, it's gonna be hard to convince the haters so it's pointless to even try. How bout you guys address baltas last post.
  8. I was looking at a 9ers message board in their bears/9ers game thread to see what they had to say and I stumbled upon this....Probably not news but I haven't heard it before. Doug Farrar: One of the reasons the Bears' O-line is so weak is that Tice doesn't install protections in the preseason. Minimal prep with calls. Something tells me this won't happen in the Trestman era.

Pack fans have said the Bears are about the only team they haven't double team him. That tells you how bad the game plan was against him....You double team him like a normal team and he won't get pushed around....When you got a guy as explosive as Matthews who gets a head of steam before meeting Webb it's no surprise he gets pushed back.

    OLineman and TEs

I obviously do otherwise I wouldn't have spent the last few days defending him. The bears decided it was a good idea to let him go 1v1 on Clay Matthews which lead to a bad game. Shocker.

With another guy who's gonna take a year or 2 to develop?? There are a few guys who may be upgrades in the FA market but they're also gonna be in high demand. Beatty, Albert and Dunlap(?) could be better than Webb but the first 2 are gonna get a hefty pay day...something which we can not afford more than likely.

Which is why I see Webb as our LT next year.

I see you ignored the posts from pack fans who talked about how we we're the only team that didn't double team Matthews. Chances are we're not gonna find a guy who will hold Matthews in check 1v1
  14. Well he's got no excuses this year, it's make or break.
  15. This is true but at least if you have the lesser pass protectors on the right side the QB can see them coming if they get through. The hope is Carimi sucked on pass protection due to the injury and not being able to get to full strength. But there is no question about his run blocking which is a plus at RT.

Escobar didn't impress me as much as his tape did, will he drop to the 4th though? Highly doubtful. The way the guys we're talking there's gonna be a lot of TEs going in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. It'd be nice to grab an extra 3rd rounder somehow and if we can't then i think we almost have to grab a TE in the 2nd. We might get lucky and have a guy drop to us in the 4th but IMO it's not worth the risk. One of the guys said there's about a 0% chance Johnson drops out of the top 15 so we can all let that go. (Though it's early and players can jump ahead of him) Armstead looked impressive but Mayock said he was a LT "down the road" which I took as he's gonna take a year or 2 to develop into that roll. His scouting reports check out with that same thought...Something most Bear fans can not wait for.
  17. I've gotta agree with most all of the above bard. I think I'd rather have Carimi on the right side though. He's not that good in pass protection but he's a mauler in the run game. I'd rather have better pass protectors on the left side. Andy Levitre would be fantastic at LG. Right now my hope for the line is J'Marcus "haters gonna hate" Webb-Levitre-Garza-Cooper-Carimi.
  18. It was a dig on the fact that raw players may take a couple years to fully develop.
  19. And we all know how raw players go over here in Chicago.
  20. With how many teams have a ton of money this offseason that's probably not be a good thing.

You can cherry pick A LOT more good games than bad ones. And those bad games you cherry picked were against 2 of the best sack artists in the league. ~Half the sacks given up to Matthews and Smith were also on other players. Whether it be a stunt inside or them lining up opposite Carimi. Oh and the blocking scheme was still horrible... Here's some comments from Pack fans I saw on reddit
  22. Nearly every report I've read about Jones says he's better suited for the interior. He's got short arms. It's probably because they run a predominantly power run based offense. Carimi is a damn good run blocker as well...
  23. He won't be playing LT in the NFL. Wagner not fairing well in the bench press means nothing for Frederick.

Webb cut his false starts down from 8 to 3 last year....Joe Thomas had 4. Not comparing the 2 just pointing it out. Cutler gets blasted for pushing Webb but Webb should have pushed him back? I'm sure the coaching staff and media would have loved that. Yup, 7th round draft picks take time to develop.
  25. He'd fit great in the WCO but the funds probably won't be there....Unless of course they just address the OL in the draft or let Melton walk.
