  1. Could be...I don't see why he can't be a good DE in a 4-3 too.
  2. Honestly, come to think of it I believe I read the whole Tucker likes run stopping DTs on bleacher report. I'm not sure on that but if it was, well then that's enough said right there lol. I think they're getting that from the fact that the Jags best DT was 330 pounds. I'm reading now that he runs a single gap D. Melton is a stud but I really wouldn't be too ticked if he's gone. But if they have the money to get him and a OL piece then then they damn well better. If Melton ends up making something like 7 mill and they end up spending that amount of money on something stupid then I'll be ticked.
  3. I know we're moving to a more offensive minded team but I'd hate a 1st round WR. I'd be sketchy on a TE in the 1st too. I like Ertz but I feel like you can get one just as productive in the 4th or even a better chance if they can trade down and pick up an 3rd. Gavin Escobar or Levine Toilolo in the 3rd or (hopefully) the 4th if we can't get a 3rd would be fantastic! I actually like those 2 more than Eifert. I think Toilolo could be the steal of the draft, he's 2 inches taller (6'8") and his 40 time is only .01(4.62) seconds off from his teammate Zach Ertz. Again, a WR in the first would make me sad too. Next year the RBs and TEs are gonna be utilized more in the pass game. Add in Marshall and Jeffery and this #1 pick would be the 5th or 6th option depending on how you view Bennett. Get the 5th or 6th option in the 5th or 6th round.
  4. I think after the combine Te'os stock will drop. He could have truly just "had a bad day" in the Nat'l Title game but to me he didn't look like a 1st round pick. It's a toss up between Tree and Cooper for me. If they can bring in a guy like Levitre or another proven LG then give me Tree. If not Cooper has gotta be the pick.
  5. I was referring to Scotts negative rating which was the opposite of Gabes negative rating. Scott gave up 1 sack last year which is incredible on this line, I can't deny that but he also somehow rated out negatively which tells me he wasn't good in the run game. I can agree it's a good idea to bring Scott back though and let the best man win. It all depends on what Kromer wants on the edge.
  6. If healthy, Carimi adds more to the line IMO. His -8.1 rating tells me he was horrible in run blocking. If Carimi comes in at full strength he could offer solid pass blocking and very good run blocking. With Forte not really being a between the tackles runner I'd rather have good run defenders on the edge with great pass blockers up the middle. Bringing back Scott on the other hand is ok with me for some competition...if Scott wins great.
  7. I'm not saying it's his bible or his end all source of information but it is indeed a source he uses which is better than getting information from some random blog stating we need this or that.
  8. They pointed out that they may be content with their young tackles which I agree with, esp considering the whole inside out blocking scheme. Webb-Levitre-Garza-Louis/Rookie-Carimi would be a solid line IMO.
  9. Lets see what the website our GM uses thinks we need to do...(a lot shorter than I thought and no real news here) https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/...-chicago-bears/ Not sure they have the money to grab Levitre, Bennett, and Melton plus bring in enough depth to fill the team but that would certainly be the makings of Super Bowl contender.
  10. I saw this tweet by Melton and wondered if it could mean he was asked to line up outside at DE... Pretty random tweet unless he was asked about it, and this wasn't in response to any ones question. Couple this with the fact that Tucker apparently likes bigger run stuffers in the middle and it could make sense. Could they add a massive DT to their list of draft needs?? Jesse Williams in the first would be a dream, Kwame Geathers in the 4th would be more realistic. How sexy would a Peppers-Paea-Williams-Melton front 4 look??? With Melton playing the Izzy role where he occasionally moves inside to give Wootton and SMC some snaps.

    Extend Cutler?

Ya, I think you may be right which is why I proposed the "Would he do it knowing he could take a step forward and make more money if he waits?" question ...Wishful thinking really. They'll have the money to resign him after next year regardless but getting it done now would save some $$ in my opinion

    Extend Cutler?

I was thinking back load it and give him a big signing bonus. A Matt Ryan-esque contract where he made 295k with a 6mill bonus would be pretty rad. It won't happen but something like that would be nice .....I'm sure Marc and Kromer have some time to get to know him before they make the decision. It's a bit of a bold move that could be beneficial if Cutler does indeed take off this season. I'm right there with you as one of his biggest fans and I believe there is a plethora of reasons why he will be great next year and in the future..... 1. Marc Trestman 2. Moving back to a west coast offense 3. The use of backs in said WCO 4. Progress from Jeffery 5. Upgraded OL and scheme 6. Adding a TE that can catch the ball. I think if you sign him before the season you could be saving 5 mill a year.

    Extend Cutler?

I personally think Cutler gives us the best chance to win for years to come. The FA market next year blows and with our aging defense I'd hate to go with a rookie.
  14. We've discussed extending Peanuts contract as a way to open up more $$ which I think is a great idea...What about Cutler? Would he do it knowing he could take a step forward and make more money if he waits?
  15. I think he probably gets that much anyway.
  16. Albert. He only started 11 games last year because of chronic back spasms. As a guy who suffers from back problems, they usually don't go away.
  17. And his chronic back spasms? No thanks.
  18. His whole working from the inside out will be an interesting thing to see if he brings it here. Here's a fun fact about one of his old guys and a guy we've wanted..... Over the past 3 years Jermon Bushrod has given up the the 5th most pressures in the league. 14 sacks/23 Hits/95 Hurries.....J'marcus Webb isn't in the top 10. Yet the Saints line has still been top 5 in the NFL the last 5 years.
  19. Walterfootball has the bears taking him in the 2nd.
  20. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/chicago...contract-030311 Also sorry, it was a 2011 article, I should have clarified
  21. How do they work? Are their candidates on the team that can save us big? I read an article that said the Bears restructured Peppers contract and saved 8M in cap space! Is that still possible under the new CBA or whatever? We already have a decent amount of money to work with but they can never have too much!

    Andy Levitre

The 2nd tier of OGs is pretty average and it looks like the bears will want above average at OG. If you want average you might as well just go with Louis and a rookie.

    Andy Levitre

As AZ posted here it looks like it is a composite of all the minds to focus on the interior of the line. Whether or not they think Louis and a rookie or Carimi/Webb/Brown is gonna be good enough is up for debate...The Saints had 2 of top 6 paid guards in the league.
  24. Carl Nicks first 2 year average was ~7.5M, even with all the suitors I can't imagine him getting a mill more. I'd go to 8.5.

    Andy Levitre

I was with you on wanting a LT in FA (while moving Webb to RT) until the whole Saints put more emphasis on Guards thing came out....Ya gotta assume that philosophy comes over with Kromer. If they plan on giving him some help against speedy 3-4 guys I have no concerns with Webb.
