Yes, it does impair a persons judgement and slows down a persons ability to react....for about and hour after use...I'm sure the 50+% that uses it in the NFL don't smoke right before the game to have the effects mess with them during a game....If they wanna smoke after the game and kinda use it in the same way medical marijuana is used for then go right ahead, its good for aches and pains. And you're exactly right, the 50% of nfl athletes and 50-80% of nba players know exactly what they're doing.

Let me ask you guys this, is the fact that our whole starting defense minus Urlacher(drafted the year before) and Peppers(brought in by Jerry) are all Angelo picks a testament to Lovie or Jerry? It should come as no surprise that JA is a defensive guy (Dline and linebacker coach way back in the day)... If the Jets wanna revamp their D, he may be the guy to put in charge upstairs.

Not saying I agree with everything that comes out of that silly mans mouth but I agree with his stance on marijuana. To highlight some of the points.... I know it's hard to skew some peoples opinion on the matter of marijuana use(esp. a father like yourself) but the fact that more states are making it legal...even for recreational use.... should give you clue that in this case Skip Bayless is right. The fact that Ogletree smokes doesn't concern me on but the fact that he got caught kinda does. When he makes it to the NFL he'll probably pick up some tips on how to mask it better.

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/1/13/3872...general-manager That's a pretty solid favor, 2 interviews, man they're really stringing him along right.
-
That was bleepin impressive. If they decide it's time to say goodbye to 54, grab a LT in FA, and he's there at 20 I'd be all over him. He would be so much fun to watch. As far as his off field "issues" I'm with Skip Bayless... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...50822&num=0

He's built this fantastic defense, whether or not that's all on Lovie or not is up for debate. He can't draft an Olineman to save his rear.
-
I don't think a top tier TE is needed but a marginal upgrade would be nice. That very well could be Evan Rodriguez. When the WR core is fully healthy they have Earl Bennett to work the middle of the field.
-
Well he's looking like he'll be getting another job in New York so he must be doin something right....I'm not saying he's great or anything but i think the meathead bear fans overreact...on everything.
-
This is true....Tabor was the assistant special teams coach for the Bears last year.
-
Ya I understand what your saying but as I look into it it looks like he kinda did...Lets go deeper though. (because I have nothing better to do and I'm somewhat intrigued by the downfall of the line) The O7 (the last time you said they were good) line was... LT-Tait who was 32 LG-Brown was 35 C-Kreutz was 30 RG-Garza was 28 RT-Miller was 34 Brown and Miller were old, but Tait probably had a year or 2 left. 08 turned to LT-St. Clair 29 (3 year starter in St. Louis and former all american) LG-Metcalf 28 (Another all american Bears draft pick who didnt work out) C-Kruetz RG-Garza RT-Tait Taits old age made him due for a switch to the right side...Starting St Clair and Metcalf wasn't a bad thought but it didn't work out. They we're a couple guys who were "waiting in the wings". Chris Williams was drafted to be Taits replacement 09 turned to LT-Pace 33 (Who gave up 2 sacks in 14 games the year before) LG-Omiyale (ya that was bad) C-Kruetz RG-Garza RT-Williams Seemed like a good plan here, Pace was a monster his previous year and you're throwing in your 1st rounder. 10 turned to LT-Williams LG-Garza C-Kruetz RG-Louis RT- Omiyale Louis was rightfully given a job. Williams took over for Pace who failed. Omiyale must have showed someone something to be given the RT spot. The lack of a high pick could be what lead to Omiyale given the job. The rest of the line doesn't look like a bad idea 11 turned to LT-Webb LG-Williams C-Garza RG-Louis RT-Carimi The love for Webb by the coaching staff begins here, not exactly JAs fault since Williams should have been given another shot at LT while Carimi was brought in for the other tackle position. Really... past Frank Omiyale and J'Marcus Webb...The thought from Angelos position wasn't THAT BAD. It's not a surprise that the Jets are high on Angelo taking their GM position.
-
Gotcha, so it looks like he "TRIED" to address the line when needed every year but 2010 (when they didn't have a 1st or 2nd and blew his load on Pep)...But ya he should have got a 2nd or a 3rd in 09 as well as you can't really rely on Orlando Pace making a difference.
-
Was the line nearly as bad between 03-07 as it is now? What about free agent pickups?
-
I can't really comment on that because my memory is really foggy, it looks like he has tried to address it numerous times with the before mentioned picks and it just didn't work out for whatever reason. Just found out James Brown was 1 of 10 players on the Outland trophy watch list last year...Wonder if he can be our UDFA starter sometime soon or if he's gonna go on the list of successful college guys who don't excel on the Bears.
-
It's obviously not that easy...For Jerry Angelo at least...It's somewhat puzzling why our guys don't translate their success from college to the pros...Chris Williams was 1st Team all SEC his senior year and 2nd team his junior, while we all know Gabe Carimi was the Outland Trophy winner....Is it the Bears blocking scheme these guys have trouble picking up or is it just bad luck? Can't really blame Angelo for the picks so we just gotta hope Emery has better success. Because of all this I really wanna see LT be addressed in FA. Give Gabe RT, Louis brought back at RG, I'd love Barrett Jones at C while moving Garza back to LG.
-
Hey hey look who came around. Just yesterday you said you'd be a Bills fan if they hired him...I can understand thinking that if you had no background on the guy, other than him being a CFL coach for the last 5 years, but now that it looks like you did research on him its good to see you come around. It's really hard to argue with his resume, I want the Bears to be the first to give him a shot.
-
The back certainly didn't slow him down one bit as he was rated among the top tackles in pass black efficiency. Same could be said for the leg that happened 4+ years ago.
-
Where are you spending your free agency money in your ideal offsesaon Jason?
-
It's really hard for me to say. I base all my judgement off scouting reports when it comes to the college game. There are reports that say he can start at all 5 positions from day 1 but then there is also ones like the following From NFLmocks.com NFL draft monsters- Like I said, with a player like Jones it's really hard to tell, so if the Bears have the $$ which it sounds like they do I'd rather grab the proven commodity. And for the record I'm not calling for Long, I'm calling for Beatty, who should be cheaper. Back to the mock draft though, I only go OL with the first 2 picks if BLac's back. If he's not, which I can see happening, you gotta go LB in one of those rounds.
-
Ya, taking the leading tackler from the nations 16th rated defense in the 4th round would be awful...I too am just puking over the thought...think of the children! As far as the mock goes... Meh. Clearly the Oline needs to be addresses but I'd much rather get a proven LT in free agency over handing Fluker or Carimi the job. Unless of course they move Carimi inside where he showed some kind of promise and go with Fluker/Carimi/Jones/Garza/provenLT which now that I look at it looks sexy as hell.
-
Well I have a horrible memory but the stats (for the first half anyway) are in front of me and they say that Phil Emery disagrees with you.
-
You mean the Chris Conte that ranked as the 4th most efficient tackler among FS?? https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/...efficiency-dbs/ PFF is such a fun website, thank you Phil Emery. Once I start working I'm getting a subscription to it for sure. (the above stat is just for the first half of the season). Also while we're talking about safeties, Brandon Hardin SHOULD be healthy next year right? Emery was pretty happy about getting the guy, maybe he can take Wrights spot?
-
I've gone through 3 pages of "Gabe Carimi scouting reports" and all but to project him as a RT. Saying he's not quick enough among other things, you can't teach quickness. I'd rather just get a proven LT while the D is still making things happen.
-
The 6'1" Aaron Hernandez says hi too.
-
Ya my post about him getting a shot at LT in training camp may be wrong but Balta is right here. After looking at some of his scouting reports I literally can not find a report that projects him as a LT. FFtoolbox.com Walterfootball....not sure when this is from with the "Next year comment" Newerascouting Draftbreakdown I think he was successful at LT in college because UW was a power running team and thats what Gabe excels at, the run game. After reading all that, and with the knowledge now that Scott is a free agent, I wanna see Gabe given 1 more shot at RT to prove to us if he was indeed hurt. After watching the Nat'l Title game count me in on one of the Bama OL in the first. Carimi/Louis/Jones/Garza/Top LT FA or Carimi/Louis/Garza/Jones/LT or Carimi/Louis/Garza/Warmack/LT
