Good god, reports are Jackson will get 15M annually. That would be 3rd among DE(5Ts get lumped in with DEs) behind Watt and Wilkerson. I liked Jackson, but mercy!

I haven't really been able to make my usual long posts on the off-season, but I do have a little bit of down time right now and just wanted to throw this out there. Believe I read somewhere that if Bennett and Rolle are gone, the cap would be something like 56M so..... Sign/Resign ILB Danny Trevathon 7M ILB Brandon Marshall 7M (Yes I think its worth giving up a 2R pick to keep these 2 ILBs together) DT. Akiem Hicks 4M TE Ladarius Green 5M OG Jeff Allen 6M CB Tracey Porter 4M DT Mitch Unrein 1.5M OC Will Montgomery 1.5M RB Jaquizz Rodgers 1.5M Draft Trade all the way down to 22 with Houston. Houston gets the QB they need, Bears get back the 2nd rounder they lost, plus another 4th rounder. 1.22- Jarran Reed DT Bama --- Broncos apparently love him, and they know defense 2.52- Jason Spriggs OT Indiana--- I know I've been an advocate for Leno, but in this scenario they can upgrade 3.72- Jeremy Cash SS Duke--- Keeping with a sort of Broncos theme, he gets TJ Ward comps. Also reminds me of Fangios former S Whitmer 4.103- Pharaoh Cooper WR SC- A bit of a luxury, long term slot guy to replace Royal 4.116- James Bradberry CB Samford- Porter was good last year but he's always been injury prone and is aging. Love Bradberry as a project. 5.138- Kevin Hogan QB Stanford- Did a lot of things Jay did at Stanford, good project to groom. 6.167- Dan Vitale SB Northwestern- SB=Super Back. He might go sooner, but this is my "Dream" and 6th round still could be reality. 6.186- Robert Aguayo K FSU-- Gould cost the Bears a few games last year. 6.188- Joe Dahl OG WSU-- Need some depth behind Allen/Slaus.

IMO, they have plenty of guys who should be rotational pieces. They need starters, not sure Jenkins should be a starter.
-
I just like him over those 2 because of his length. Williams- 6'1" 32" arms Howard- 6'3" 33" arms Hicks- 6'5" 35 1/8" arms. I would be happy with any of the 3 though.

Think you mean Casey Hayward. I would like this move. Unless they do release/trade Houston and/or Young, I don't see the need for Gallette. I've read some damning things about Donald, saying he essentially gave up on his team right after getting an extension. Would love Trev, Boone, and Hayward. Would like Williams and Moore, but would prefer Hicks and Iloka.
-
Even if they sign a defensive lineman, I still think they draft one in the first 3 rounds. I've sort of came around on Ragland in the first though.
-
Bears are said to be interested in Akiem Hicks. Would be a real solid move. 6'5" 35" arms. Would give the Bears the length they need. If Malik Jackson is considered too expensive, Hicks would be #1 on my wishlist followed by Howard and Williams(as far as DTs go).

I get what you're saying, but you don't wanna over invest in a postion and count on disaster. What if everyone stays healthy? Then you've essentially wasted a mid round pick or money(if you suggest going that route). I think Wilson is a fine #4. If you wanna add late a late round pick or vet for competition to Meredith, Thompson, and Bellamy the that's fine. I woukdnt do anything before the 5th or above the vet min though. Last year was a disaster, there were times where the top 4 guys were out. I would be surprised if that happened again.
-
I was unaware of the cap ramifications so yeah, I agree, he'll be on the roster. As AZ brought up, Meredith would be in the mix as well. I'm good with the WR Corps.
-
I actually thought Wilson looked fairly decent as well. He's still under contract I believe. WR battle is gonna be interesting. I like Thompson and hope he gets more snaps as that big play deep threat. I think the only way we draft a guy is if we cut Royal. In which case I would go after Pharaoh Cooper. He looks like a really good slot guy, plus he's a Gamecock, so maybe he can make friends with Alshon to make him happier.

Here is a Aaron Lemmings complete offseason projection

I know the staff likes him for whatever reason, but I have no desire to see Shea start again.......I'm also not the biggest Jarvis Jenkins fan. Pony up a couple mill more and grab someone better. -
I think all this talk will be moot anyway. Can't see the Browns not taking him.
-
A QB would be long term, long term you have a chance to fix the line and D. I was against it big time early on, but I admittedly had not seen any of Wentz. He looks like the real deal.
-
IF they go off and get a 5tech, ILB, and a corner in FA I wouldn't HATE it. Absolutely wouldn't prefer it, but dude is gonna be a beast. I think Langford and Carey will form a formidable duo but Elliott will be miles ahead.
-
Honestly, and this has nothing to do with the Bears being interested, William Jackson looks the best to me. I talked about him in a mock awhile back and have been on him for awhile now.
-
If they don't bring back Porter or add a CB in free agency, an argument could be made for a CB being just as high a need as DL/ILB. I think we've all just assumed Porter will be back.
-
Unless Jack, Buckner, or Ramsey fell, I would be open to this.
-
When healthy, he's certainly in the dicussion at WR.
-
Smith is suspended until week 10.
-
Fairly certain he voiced displeasure about playing in a 3-4.
-
Trestman is still in Baltimore. Would be awesome if they went after Alshon and they got the 7th pick. I have a feeling the Bears would match any offer, but it is fun to think about.
-
If no team gives him an offer sheet meaning he plays under the tag, yes.
-
Certainly would be an interesting angle if Alshon has said he has no interest in staying beyond this year.
-
If Wilkerson was available, I would have been highly disappointed if the bears didn't go after him....it's all moot though.
