  1. Hmmmmm... Looking at his pro football reference page, the year he was OC they were 10th in rushing attempts and 22nd in passing attempts. So it doesn't look to me like he "Passed way to much"
  2. Yep. Cutler has already came out and talked about how Loggains has the same "Beliefs" as Gase. So for the sake of continuity it makes too much sense to just promote him and keep that stability.
  3. Are we bringing in a veteran backup? If Jay gets hurt I don't wanna rely on too late a pick. Maybe a guy like Kevin Hogan in the 4th.
  4. I would prefer they wait till the 4th to be honest. I don't think Cardale would be crazy in the 3rd but still wouldn't prefer it. I think the goal should be to find starters in the first 3 rounds.
  5. Clint Hurtt following him to Miami to be DL coach. I liked Hurtt.
  6. Honestly, I don't think it's that crazy. I think Cardale would be a solid QB to groom, and reports are he is still gonna be going in the 2-3 round. Some of the throws he made in that stretch against Wisconsin/Bama/Oregon were fantastic. He could end up being a steal down the line.
  7. I think he looks a bit like a younger Tom Thibadeu.

    Houston/Young

Jack would be an ILB in a 3-4. Listed as an OLB because he would fit as a 4-3 OLB.
  9. I would HATE Floyd. Not only do I think we're good at OLB, but he's also the 24th ranked prospect. Im cool with everything else.
  10. Probably jumped the gun a bit too soon, but for a coach who hangs his hat on defense, giving up the 27th most points is pretty damning.

A guy in the later rounds wouldn't hurt. If Acho isn't back they could use some depth there.....Early rounds? Nope.

    Houston/Young

Apparently it gets better..... So that's 8 sacks in 379 snaps. 47 plays per sack. If he stayed on that pace, which I'm not saying he would, he would have had 20 sacks if he played the number of snaps Watt did. To even already be in the top 25 in sacks despite only playing 379 snaps is pretty solid on its own.

Possibly, but I'm not really trying to say they're better than Watt. You said you were underwhelmed by their sack total so I was merely pointing out why you shouldn't be.
  14. Gase has been offered the Eagles job supposedly.

Two people who combined to play the snaps of one man. Not sure how many sacks you were expecting out of guys who played 378 and 478 snaps respectively.

    Houston/Young

Sacks were down league wide....1 more sack would have tied them for 3rd in the league. 1. Watt- 17.5 2. Mack- 15 3. Houston/Young 14.5 Also, using average plays per sack.... Watt had a sack every 54.17 plays .....Lamarr Houston? 54.14. Young brought the rate down by only getting one every 73 plays.

    Houston/Young

They're both under contract so they don't have to do anything to keep them, just stand pat. Young may have changed his tune after having some success in the role. Either way, I like Houston more than Young, and think Houston can play the role on his own so if Young wants to force his way out, I'm fine with that.
  18. Gase has been a busy man. So far it looks like he has had/or will have interviews with the Giants, Browns, Dolphins, and Eagles. The Eagles interview tomorrow will be his 2nd with them. Can't imagine he returns.

Here's another stat to throw out there. Houston had 1 less tackle and 1 more sack than Mcphee. Mcphee played 188 more snaps. Don't forget, the year before Houston got that big contract, he played OLB 80% of the time. I think a lot of people forget about that.

    Houston/Young

On another board someone brought up trading Young and cutting Houston. I thought we should hang onto the both of them as I thought both had a good year. I decided to look up some numbers, and they were A LOT better than I thought. The 2 of them combined for 13.5 sacks in 857 snaps. The 13.5 sacks would have been good for 4th in the league, and for comparisons sake, Watt and Mack who were 1 and 2 in the league in sacks both played over 900 snaps. That duo was really underrated.
  21. Forte was 30th in the league in yards per carries last year. There is a ton of evidence out there that shows RBs start to hit a way around 30. It made a ton of sense to draft a RB of the future. As you said, the staff didn't know much about Carey, now the do. The reasoning really isn't the same.
  22. Jacks instincts are incredible in my opinion. Much better than Raglands. I remember reading an article comparing the 2, and the writer, believe it was Greg Gabriel of CBS, actually questioned Raglands instincts while calling Jacks top notch.
  23. I can go either way with Forte. The difference between he and Urlacher/Peanut is we have young replacements in place. They did show this year that they can work all 3 in, so it wouldn't really stunt Langford/Careys growth. From a business standpoint though, it doesn't really make much since. Spending 5 mill or whatever on a guy when you have 2 capable guys isn't that wise. Buttttt they do have a ton of cash soooo.....again, I can go either way.
  24. Another thing that scares me about Scooby is here's a guy who put up ridiculous numbers and yet I keep reading that scouts aren't sold on him. Kind of reminds me of the whole Barrett Jones thing a couple years ago where Jones was one of the must decorated college linemen ever and scouts were calling him a 4th rounder. And in neither case was it because of injury. I just don't think he's a fit.
  25. They're both special players, they really shouldn't be scared off by past problems. Jack in particular would be a mistake to pass on IMO. Here's a guy who lined up man to man with Nelson Aghular, who was one of the best college WRs last year, every snap and held him to 3 catches. He's a linebacker with corner skills, and his instincts are phenomenal. His read and react skills are out of this world. Unless they signed 2 ILBs, if Jack was there and the Bears passed, I would be passed.
