  1. I doubt Smith makes it out of the 1st round to be honest. Gurley tore his ACL and still went 10th overall. His stock will take a hit, but I would be shocked if he made it down to the lower part of the draft if a team like the Broncos or some team that doesn't really need an immediate impact guy would take a shot and sit him for a while. He's a special talent.
  2. I like Scooby, but I'm not so sure he's a fit. I still remember reading about how Fangio had both his ILBs drop into coverage more than any other ILBs in the NFL. We've seen that a lot this year as well. I see Scooby as strictly a downhill type guy who would struggle in coverage, and we'd see the same holes in the middle of the field.
  3. Jack>>Ragland IMO. ILB is paper thin in the draft, so I prefer they go there round 1.
  4. Yeah, no thanks in the first. I'd start looking in the 3rd. Bears seem close to contention next year if they can have a good off-season. Taking Connor Cook (Lynch and Goff are probably gone) at 11 just wouldn't help. Like DB said, there's not a big drop off between Cook and a guy like Hackenberg. If he's there in the 3rd I would consider it. Hoping the draft plays out like this latest CBS mock. www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-draft-scout/25436870/nfl-mock-draft-jared-goff-not-johnny-manziel-is-the-future-in-cleveland Jack is on top of my draft board in terms of talent and need. Jack falling to 11 would be huge.
  5. They probably could have, but didn't want to deal with it. It want the old staff that gave him the boot.
  6. There was someone a few yards behind the guy who picked it. No idea who, because I have no clue who is out there anymore.
  7. One his arm got hit by Ansah on delivery, and the other kinda looked like PI on a ball that got deflected to another defender. Neither were really WTF Jay picks. Is Miller out too?
  8. Not gonna happen, but if need be, I wonder if NY would do an Alshon for Decker swap. Doesn't really make sense for the Jets, but it would be perfect for the Bears side of things. Decker played under Fox/Gase, they're similar styled WRs, Alshon gets to reunite with B, and the Bears aren't stuck with a meh free agent/rookie across from White.
  9. The type of tender that can be used for draft picks is when your guy is a restricted free agent. Alshon isn't restricted. I hope he stays. He's a legit top 5 WR when healthy, and you take a chance with that toe of guy 9 times outta 10.
  10. I love Conklin, and think he should absolutely be in the discussion for a top 15 pick.....just not to the Bears. Fromwhat I've gathered, the Bears run a lot of zone blocking and you want athletic OTs guys out there for it. Conklin is a straight up mauler who will have a great NFL career, just probably not in Chicago. Like others have said, I don't think we need to go back to back on the DL. Grab one early, then you have him, Goldman, Ego, Sutton, and then possibly Jenkins and/or Unrien brought back as well. Ego got hurt early on, but assuming he comes back healthy, I think he's a starter. They're forgetting about Carey here with that 4th rounder. I think Carey has shown to be a capable backup, and he and Langford would be a nice cheap combo. No ILB is obviously a mistake. I love mock draft season, but I really think they should be accompanied by free agent predictions. I'll throw out a mock offseaon here in a bit.
  11. Long seems like a straight shooter so I buy it. I can certainly see him get better there, but wood have preferred to move him back.....Next question is has Leno showed enough to be the other tackle?
  12. Only guys I really care about keeping are Alshon, Porter, Miller, and Thompson. Wouldn't mind having Jenkins back, but not sure he's a starter. Same for Unrien. Acho isn't bad, but I really like the Young/Houston platoon. Wouldn't mind having him as a backup though. Personally I wanna see Jones get a crack at backup OLB.
  13. Swamp Monster! Hope he gets some PT. I still get a kick out of this article. Terry Williams is the best NT in 2015 Draft
  14. Really when you look at their season as a whole, they haven't been that good. They barely beat the Bears in a close 1 week 1... Beat a Seahawk team who really struggled early on....They beat a KC team the Bears beat in week 3....They beat a San Fran team that the Bears SHOULD have beat week 4....They beat a RAms team the Bears destroyed....They beat a San Diego team the Bears beat....They beat a raiders team the bears beat....They beat a terrible Cowboys team. They came really close to being 0-2 against Detroit, if not for the ridiculous game you mentioned that they won. If we beat the Lions this week we'll both be 1-1 vs them. Them beating Minnesota is about they only "Good" win they had.
  15. And once again, I believe he's been turned into a game manager because of injuries and a sub par OL. Kevin White is supposed to be an explosive playmaker, you don't think the offense looks a little different with him out there? You don't think the team looks better with a healthy Alshon Jeffery, who even while hampered most of the year has still managed to be 27th among WR in the league? Even Eddie Royal as a #3 would have changed things a bit.........then factor in Long looking overmatched much of the season. Ducasse and OMG looking pretty bad at OG. Grasu looking every bit like the center who the staff thought would need a red shirt year to get stronger. Leno has played beyond my expectations, but he still hasn't been THAT good.......Jay has played within what the offense will allow him to do. What the OL and WR are allowing him to do is be nothing more than a game manager.....Just like the OL and WR are allowing Aaron to do in GB. Brady/Bellicheck are just unreal. Doug Baldwin and Tyler Locket are better than what we've thrown out for the majority of the season. Plus he's incredible with his feet.....Smith is kind of an odd comp seeing as Jay has better numbers despite playing in a game and a half less.
  16. Yes, but he's still been fairly mediocre due to injuries, and that is the point. Over his last 9 games he's only completing 56% of his passes. For comparison, Cutler has only completed under 56% just once this year, and that was the first game of the season. Rodgers QB rating the last 2 months(the last 9 games) has been 81 and 83. Cutler has only been below 83 3 times this year. Jay even has a higher Yards Per Completion this year. Rodgers has more yards only because he passes more. I'm not saying Cutler is better than Rodgers, just making the point that when injuries happen, your QB isn't gonna play as well as he should.
  17. The thing, once again is injuries. Injuries have forced him into a game manager. I know again you'll say it's an excuse, and point out that guys like Aaron Rodgers overcome....wait, Aaron Rodgers isn't having a great year without Jordy Nelson and a bad OL. I think Gase stays another year, and we see a whole nother Cutey next year assuming injuries don't happen/we have proper depth.
  18. Please do. Dude is 27th among WRs in yards and he's missed 6 games. He's 8th in the league in yards per game. Idk if you're factoring in health or not, but even factoring it in, you can't tell me he's still not a top 30 WR, that's just silly. In his first 4 years, Gronk played in less games than Alshon has, is he not the best TE in the league? Julio Jones played in less as well, is he not a top 5 WR?
  19. Yeah, IMO, you HAVE to bring him back. It's really not that difficult to me honestly. Dude is a top 5-10 WR when he's on the field. Would absolutely hate to see a guy his age leave and go off for another team.
  20. I don't recall such plays, but if you say so. Whole reason he gets talked about as a safety is because he's physical against the run. Fuller had a really disappointing first half, but in the 2nd half hes been solid. I feel confident in saying he's at least a #2 starter, and I still think he can be a #1. He had a brilliant 1st half last year and very good 2nd half this year. Just needs to put it all together for 16 games.
  21. Think I've said this before but I'll say it again. I don't think teams in the NFL actively try to lose games.....In the NBA, where one player can change everything, yes, but in the NFL, I just don't think it happens. I'm fine with wherever they land. This draft doesn't really seem to have any "Can't miss" guys to where I'll be bummed if they miss out on someone because they won a game. For instance, ILB looks like it'll be a prime target in the first round, I don't see that big of a dropoff between Smith and Jack who might be gone, to Ragland who would probably be there. DLine looks pretty deep as well, and while there's a drop off between Bosa and the next guy, we probably weren't gonna be in play for Bosa even if we lost the last 2. Same could also be said for OT, personally, I don't think there's that big a drop between Tunsil and Stanley to Conklin and Decker.
  22. Uhh, Fuller is a really solid tackler. That's why some think he would be a solid safety.....not too sure who you've been watching. Amos is my biggest surprise, and Grasu is my biggest disappointment. I loved Grasu out of college and thought he would come in right away and play at a high level. Of non rookies, Willie Young has looked really good as an OLB, as has Houston but I'm not really surprised.....I'll go with Christian Jones as my non rookie disappointment. I thought he'd excel as a starter. I might try him at OLB next year.
  23. This is what I read on Wilkerson/Harrison. ESPN's Rich Cimini said to "bet on" the Jets using the franchise tag on RE Muhammad Wilkerson this offseason. Of course, this assumes the two sides cannot reach a long-term extension, but there have been no indications a deal is in the cards. NT Damon Harrison is also a free agent this offseason, and the Jets already have a lot of money invested in Sheldon Richardson and rookie Leonard Williams. It is unlikely New York can keep all four. Nov 21 - 10:31 AM Just read this as well. The New York News' Manish Mehta believes the Jets will "almost certainly" use the franchise tag on contract-year RE Muhammad Wilkerson. The two sides went through some contract squabbles last offseason with Wilkerson heading into the final year of his rookie deal. A long-term deal was discussed, but ultimately wasn't agreed upon before talks were broken off when Week 1 rolled around. Wilkerson, 26, has answered with another borderline-All Pro season. He's second among 3-4 ends in sacks, 1.5 behind J.J. Watt, and is first in the NFL in sack yards. Wilkerson has also continued to be top-notch against the run. GM Mike Maccagnan will likely tag Wilkerson, try to work out a long-term contract, and if one isn't reached, he can try and trade him or let him play on the one-year deal. The bold is an interesting talking point. For a top 10 defensive player it's gonna take a lot. How high would you go? Would you give up a 1st+? Seeing as he's still pretty young and upgrades the team big time, I might consider that if there are no other 1st/2nd/3rdround picks being talked about.
  24. Video of Harrison wrecking things. He sure doesn't move like a 350 pound man. He's officially my off-season man crush.....unless Wilkerson some how escapes the franchise tag.
  25. I still like my idea of moving Goldman out and grabbing Damon Harrison. I loves me some Snacks.
