Reports are out there saying we might bring in Ball. I like it if he's brought in to be the backup. I wanna see Langford get a legit shot to start. I do like Ball though. His first year he averages 4.7 YPC which is pretty good. Sucked last year, but which is the real Ball? If he's the 4.7 YPC guy he was his rookie season he and Langford could be a good duo beyond this year. Ball is still just 24 years old and I'm shocked he's not on a team somewhere.

Trade market for older players must suck. 9ers got 2 6th round picks while also giving up a 7th round pick for Vernon Davis. Deal was with the Broncos so that swap of 6 and 7th round picks is probably only gonna be a few slots since the Broncos are gonna be at the bottom of the 6th and the 9ers are gonna be towards the top of the 7th. So essentially the 49ers got a 6th round pick 2 years from now and moved up 10 slots tops at the end of the draft for Vernon Davis.

Still though, the Lions are the only team they should have beat but didn't. The schedule this year hasn't been kind at all. They've lost 3 games by a combined 13 points. So you could look at glass half empty and think we could be 0-7, or you could look at as we were 14 points spread over 3 games away from being 5-2 against a really good schedule. Maybe it's because I've been at a bar for every game, but I think this team with a good offseason could be a good team next year.

A day after talking about how he used to be a WR he drops a crucial ball. Always seems to happen. He still has a chance to be a good one IMO.
-
Hell yeah I want me some Hayne!
-
He does have too many attributes to simply let go. Which why they should get something for him. (Hints of sarcasm in there, I know you still consider trading as letting go). I wouldn't hate front loading a deal with outs like another poster suggested. If they go past 2 years without a cheap out(being able to cut without it costing much) then I think it would be a huge mistake. Also, you know who isn't one dimensional? Langford. Dude played some WR at MSU, so I'm sure he's capable of doing the same things Forte does in the passing game.
-
Not sure the staff feels the same way. Under 4 yards per carry is no bueno. Yes he would be better behind an improved OL, but so would Langford for much cheaper. 3-4 years would be bad IMO. 2 with an option for 3, maybe. Since 1990, there hasn't been a single 1000 yard rusher over 32.

This is true, and the line is banged up. Still, the RB wall is very real. I wouldn't mind keeping him and giving him a deal like Gore got (4m a year) but anything above that and I would pass. This new staff drafted Langford, and I think he should be given a chance to start. If not its a waste of a draft pick.
-
They've both been what I would call serviceable. You can win with both, but I think RBs are easier to find and the RB wall comes sooner than the QB wall. Forte also ran for 3.9 YPC last year as well, again 29th in the league. IMO he's starting to hit that wall.
-
I just think he's being a little over rated here. He's been serviceable.
-
Forte is averaging 4.0 YPC. That is 29th in the league. He had a huge game against GB week 1. GB doesn't have a good rush defense to begin with, and they were missing a few guys to go with it. Since the GB game he's averaging 3.5 yards per carry which would be 43rd of 51 qualified rushers. He's in the top 10 in rushing because he's leading the league in carries. All things considered, I'm not saying he's been bad, but he hasn't been very good. Good? Maybe.
-
Forte makes all the sense in the world. He hasn't been very good this year, but someone might give up a 4th for him. Flat out no to Alshon. No to Cutler as well. Unless a team wants to throw us a 2R pick. I can't see them playing 9 games with Jimmy f'n Clausen.

Police report also says that he said he felt like killing everyone in the building. Wow.

Beat me to it in a way. Really bizzare that the saying he was the devil and wishing death to employees kids were true. Dude needs help.

Bears sign Ziggy Hood and cut Ratliifle on bleacher report

I never thought this(the story of him calling himself the devil and wishing death upon employees kids) would end up being true, it was just too bizzare. TMZ reported today that this was indeed true..... Wow. Wtf kind of drugs was he on? -
Yeah, I love Slaus. Hopefully this isn't a long term thing because Grasu can use the snaps. I also have no faith in Dooky and Oh Man at the guard spots. If it's long term I wonder if they're tempted to move Long back or try Bushrod/Leno at one of the guard spots.
-
Personally I'm fine with going into next season with Rolle/Amos going into next year, but yes, if they draft a S or move Fuller to S it would be to replace Rolle......Unless Amos falls off a cliff.
-
Makes some sense. I wonder if they might try Bushrod inside. Or maybe even kick Long back inside with Bushrod and Leno at tackle. Could be some other changes upcoming to the defensive side of the ball. Fangio suggested they might move Fuller to safety. That of course makes a ton of sense vs giving up on him completely if he is indeed a bust at CB.

Conversely, I'm an ND hater, but absolutely love Smith. His abilities in coverage is something I think Fanio would love. I also wouldn't mind 2 new ILBs, but I have Brandon Marshall on my wish list. I agree with the previous post about them not resigning SMC to play OLB. BUT, I wouldn't mind seeing Jones given a shot outside. I really think he could be that speed rusher they're missing. Jones-Marshall-Smith-McPhee sounds really good to me.

Damn, My boy Paxton Lynch is getting some top 10 love??? Brought him up weeks ago as an under the radar guy I wanted in the mid rounds. Dudes been balling out. Kind of goes with my point in the other thread where there's not a huge drop between Cook/Goff, and guys like Lynch. That said, no thanks with him or any other QB in the first.
-
Yeah, there's not a QB worth sacrificing a potential day 1 starter. Cook took a leap over Goff to me, but I still don't think he's a franchise QB, and you have to think you're drafting a franchise QB if you're gonna make that sacrifice. I really don't think there's that big a drop from the guys going in the first to the guys you can get later.
-
NFL Network claiming Forte still could be moved before the November 3rd deadline. Makes a lot of sense long term. Need to see what we have in Langford.
-
Looking at next years draft, finding a pure speed rushing OLB might be hard to do. Certainly doesn't look like there will be one in the top 10 unless someone blows up the combine and/or you see Bosa as an OLB vs. DE. Class looks really weak. Another poster mentioned Von Miller, and considering the class, that make some sense if he makes it out of Denver.
-
I know its cherry picking but if you take out the packers game (pack was missing a few key rush defenders) he's only averaging 3.5 YPC. Take out his 3 20 yard carries in that game and it goes to 3.4 YPC. Yes he's leading the league in rushing but that is simply due to the bulk of his carries.
-
Agreed on all accounts. I'm passing on Forte for anything over 4 mill a year. You can already tell he's starting to slow down.
