Yeah, McDaniels is a douche. He's probably surviving in NE because Belicheck is a douche too. Def wanna see Jay stay another year if he continues playing the way he is. There is still guaranteed money there, and we've been in every game he's been out there despite a plethora of injuries. He could be even better next year with White and a probable upgrade on the OL. I would go with a mid round guy to be the back up for a year or a few.

A lot of course will depend on free agency. Bears have boat loads of cash and there could be a lot of intriguing players out there. My dream free agent offseason would to snag Brandon Marshall(ILB) and Josh Norman/Sean Smith(CB). Bringing in a shut down corner like one of those 2 would be HUGE. Marshall is just an all around stud. From there there are still a lot of questions to be answered this season. Is Leno a legit LT? Is Long a pro bowl OT? If either of those answers are no, I think I'm going OT. Yes, Long has to show pro bowl potential or I'm moving him back to guard. If the answer for the Leno question is no, I would still give him a shot to compete at RT with Bushrod/Tayo. All the weapons on offense combined with a really good OL and I think the offense explodes, yes with Jay at QB. Right to left Leno/Rod/Tayo-Long-Grasu-Slaus-Stanley/Tunsil could be really good. Are both guys real deal OTs? Then you move on to the next question. Is Jenkins the player we saw get a few sacks in back to back games or is he the guy who has been average the other 4? What about Sutton and Ego? Are they starters or rotational pieces? Goldman is a lock no matter what IMO, but are 2 of the other 3 starters? Jenkins has been bad in his career, and really has only had those 2 games this year, tough for me to say who he is. Sutton has shown signs of being really good, mainly in preseason, but has flashed from time to time in the regular season as well, is he a starter though? Ego is gonna be a tough one to gauge since he's out for the season and isn't really a guy who jumps out at you when he's on the field......Are 2 of those guys starters? If the answer is no, then I'm looking at Bosa/Nkemdiche. If Leno, Long(at OT), and 2 of Jenkins/Ego/Sutton are starters, then you move on to tge next question. Is Kyle Fuller a starting CB or a bust at CB? I'm not gonna put stock into Porter, though he could probably still be a stop gap. Yes, in my ideal offseason the bears brought in a shut down corner already BUT we also have to deal with Megatron/Tate and Nelson/Cobb 4 times a year plus most teams have pretty solid duos. Can Fuller be a #2? If the answer is no, then I'm looking at Hargreaves. If Fuller is a #2, then you move on to the next one. Has SMC showed the team enough to bring him back and start him? What about Jones? What about guys like Timu and Anderson? Again, yes, I did bring in Marshall, but look at what Fangio had in SF. Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman. 2 elite ILBs. I think Marshall is already elite, but what about the other spot? They apparently really like SMC but to the extent of resigning him and counting on him? Jones has been meh to me so far. Timu and Anderson both showed signs in the preseason, but are they enough to say "Open competition for the other ILB spot" and to pass on a guy like Jaylon Smith? Smith and Marshall would be phenomenal in every aspect. Both can do it all. Are they good enough at ILB? If so you move on to safety. Amos looks like a keeper for sure and I do like having Rolle out there as a leader, but is he good enough as a football player? If the answer is no, then you look at Ramsey. Are they good with Rolle starting another year? Is the defense with the addition of a shutdown corner good enough already? Is the OT position set enough already? If so THEN I consider taking Goff/Cook. That is how I would approach things.

Bears sign Ziggy Hood and cut Ratliifle on bleacher report
scs787 replied to 50england50's topic in Bearstalk
Wow. Apparently he and Pace got in a verbal fight yesterday and he was cut today. Will be interesting to see if more details come out. I recall watching a game where Ziggy looked pretty good. No idea if he's healthy though. If he's not healthy we're looking at Sutton-Goldman-Jenkins with Unrein as the only backup I can think of. -
Amos getting a little love for rookie of the year from PFF. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/...ntering-week-7/ Highly doubt ROY goes to a safety unless he gets 5+ picks, it probably goes to a guy putting up "sexier numbers" vs a guy who is simply doing his job well.
-
Yeah, I believe you free up 4 mill by cutting Bushrod. (Bears already are gonna have ~60mill) I've been pleasantly surprised by Leno. I think no matter what they should go with him to see if he's a legit answer for the future.
-
Now Tayo needs to get in shape and be a starter, which based on what I've read is a possibility. His big knock and why he was there in the 6th was his weight which is certainly something that can be worked on. Back to Amos, yeah, kid looks like a keeper.

Who though? I know Mariani can't be the most explosive guy on the team, but I'm having a hard time figuring out who is. I know Royal is the backup punt returner, and I read that Fuller was fielding punts and is the 3rd string punt returner. I assume those are the backup kick returners as well. This team def lacks speed. Senorice Perry and Jalen Saunders(PS) are both hurt and are the only real burners on the team right now. Maybe they try Langford? Bears should def look into a kick returner in the draft, because I do agree that Mariani is upgradeable. Edit- Totally forgot they grabbed Antone Smith who is/was really fast. Not sure how age and injury have hampered that.
-
FWIW, Mariani ranks 7th in kick return average. I think we are both spoiled by having Hester for years and envious by the fact that other teams are going off on our special teams unit Mariani is certainly not dynamic by any means but judging by the fact he ranks 7th in kick return average, he's also not the biggest issue in the world.

Yeah I wouldn't give Forte better than a C. Less than 3 ypc is pretty bad. He even had a 10 yard rush mixed in there and still managed under 3ypc. I know he was leading the leauge in rushing, but that, IMO is a very misleading stat. He's been pretty meh for the most part running the ball. His versatility as a pass catcher does help a lot though.
-
Yeah, I really don't understand the lack of urgency in the play calling in overtime. Almost felt like neither team wanted to win in OT. Passing game looked good sans the INT, running game was pretty bad, and that's how you wanna play in OT? Gotta give it to this staff for making this team look competent but man, they are ultra conservative at times.
-
Ouch, that certainly came outta no where. Good thing Ratliff is back.
-
Them missing Ngata and Levy is huge. I think the Bears should be able to run all over em if the want.
-
I think both Rolle and SMC are considered week to week. Not sure what that means. Marty B also hurt something Thursday too apparently.
-
Kevin White was at practice doing some side work. Fox said he's been doing indoor work and has progressed to grass. Really encouraging stuff. Probably still out 4-6 weeks I'd guess but that's a whole lot sooner than I thought (I thought he'd be gone all year). I know playoffs sound crazy, but tread water around .500 till White (and Alshon) comes back, and explode through the last 5-6 weeks and boom, playoffs.
-
Those spots were filled by Jonathon Anderson and some safety, I forget his name, Chris P something.
-
He'll be fine, come on back 100% after the bye when they're 3-3 and help take this team to the playoffs. Franchise him after the season. Just letting him walk is a terrible idea IMO.
-
Jaquizz Rodgers was placed on the season ending IR. Bears signed home run hitting Antone Smith. I liked Quiz, but I wanna see more Langford....and Antone Smith could add a a speed element were lacking. Think D'Anthony Thomas and the way he scored on the Bears yesterday.
-
I highly doubt Forte gets anything more than a 2 year deal, maybe an option for a 3rd year. Yes, he's leading the league in rushing, but among the top 15 only 2 have less ypc. He's been good, but not great running the ball. I wouldn't hate a 2 year deal, but I also would understand moving on.
-
Seahawks have struggled because they're OL is God awful and guess what? That matters. It's not an excuse.
-
Man, that 4th quarter was a ton of fun. Been watching the games at a local bar and that place has been rockin the last 2 weeks. Cutler is back to his clutch ways. I hope Alshon is back next week, but man, Lions are a dumpster fire right now and the bears can probably beat them without him. Get to .500 and have Alshon come back 100% after the bye.
-
Hey chitown....make a gamethread.. Bears won last week so being superstitious, you gotta do it again.
-
Terrible performance, though his line was hot garbage. A knock on him was winning the big game and he shit the bed once again. I still think he gets drafted in the first round but probably drops from the top 5. I want the Bears to go defense 1R anyway.
-
Utah's pass defense is in the bottom half of the FBS. Should be a fun game to watch though, I kinda like Travis Wilson too. He's got a bum shoulder so he mighttt not play, we'll see.
-
Would be real nice if Leno continues to play well and he becomes a guy. He will have faced Khalil Mack, Aldon Smith, Justin Tuck, Justin Houston, and Tamba Hali (assuming those guys didn't line up on one side). If he looks good this week they might wanna consider him at RT and moving Long to LT.

My new mid round QB man crush is Paxton Lynch outta Memphis. CFF shed some light on him and after looking into him, he's my new mid round QB of choice. Def hoping the Memphis vs Ole Miss game is on TV next weekend. Travis Wilson is the same type of guy as Lynch, he plays Goff and Cal this weekend what should be a fun one to watch. I like Wilson a bit too. Both Wilson and Lynch are huge, 6'6" QBs with good mobility. Lynch is the more accurate QB but both are fairly accurate. Like I said, good mobility with the both of em, and with the way Jay had been running, that makes them even more interesting.
