Nice, Allen made that one solid INT but overall he hasn't been any good. With Houston, Acho, and Young there are just much better options. Any return is nice. Was he under contract for next year?
-
Maybe you're just taking the words to literal. They miss having another good WR which is what you hope White is.
-
Cutler has 21 game winning drives, good for 45th all time, tied with Troy Aikmen. His 17 comeback victories is good for 41st all time.

I didn't see it, but all signs point to 2 weeks top. I know you can't really trust Fox when it comes to injuries, but half way into the week Fox still didn't rule Jay out for yesterdays game, and like AZ said he was doing some running around before the game......I wouldn't be shocked if he's back next week, and if not I kinda expect him to be back week 5.
-
Just 16 offensive plays in the 2nd half. Ouch.
-
Get well soon Jay!

Maybe I don't pay enough attention to ST when watching football, but I rarely see a kicker "kick it high around the 10" or towards the corner really.
-
Yeah, I remember seeing him on the sideline with the defense huddled around him with him talking during either the Pack game or Cards game. I also remember reading some story about how he showed up to the coaches office each week talking about how they can improve. Like you said a guy like that is good to have out on the field. I'm meh on Bailey, but I've also never heard of the Bears 4th safety so I wouldn't hate to see this move made and him being the backup.
-
Yeah, if you have 10 possessions a game and you throw a pick on one but score on a few others, I'll take that all day over what we saw today.
-
Yeah, no arguments here. I will say that the returns for TDs came from 2 guys I wanted in the draft. So I'll just toot my horn there. Lol.

Actually, according to this, it's worse..... www.espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/109813/its-a-statistically-ugly-ledger-for-the-bears ....I continue to fail at posting clickably links....ugh. First time since 1980 a team punted on every possession. 48 net passing yards....That's hard to do.
-
Not sure if true, it comes from a terrator like poster on soxtalk, but supposedlay the Bears are only the 3rd team to punt on every possession. Woof.

Man, I remember really wanting Lockett in the draft. I don't think Mariani is bad but Lockett is so dynamic.

Here's a pretty good take from a packers site(I felt dirty being in there) on why Rodgers gets sacked so much. A common criticism of our beloved quarterback throughout the years has been his propensity to hold on to the ball in trying to extend plays. Whether he ends up scrambling for a first down or hitting a receiver on an improvised route, there have been numerous times where Aaron Rodgers’ has saved failing plays. Yet we are ever so reluctant to take the bad with the good. Kevin Seifert over at the ESPN NFC North Blog recently shared some statistics about the division quarterbacks and their “time in pocket.” (This was actually the impetus for my blog post.) According to ESPN Stats and Information, Rodgers spent an average of 2.82 second in the pocket, which was longer than 34 other quarterbacks. He also had the highest sack rate per drop-back in the NFC North. Really, this is some fairly damning evidence. It doesn’t take into account plays made outside of the pocket or even the average sack speed, but it does clearly show that Aaron Rodgers took longer to throw the ball than most quarterbacks in 2012. The major counterpoint is that Rodgers more than makes up for this with the successful extended plays and that he balances out the productivity with fewer interceptions from forced throws. Rodgers is, after all, the only quarterback in NFL history to have been sacked 50+ times in two separate seasons while still maintaining a 100+ passer rating in each. Still, we’re not talking about productivity, we’re talking about sacks, and we want to know whom to blame. ....So the OL could be doing well but they can't hold everyone forever.... It's kinda why advanced stats didn't like Bushrod for the opposite reason. Brees gets rid of the ball so quick that while Bushrod may have f'd up the quickness in which Brees got the ball out covered it up.

In 2007 they lead the league in sacks with 53. Next highest had 47. In 2011 they were 3rd with 48, 50 was the highest. They also only got 9 games out of Osi Umenyora (who had 9 sacks in 9 games) Justin Tuck only played 12 games. Those teams with Osi, Tuck, and JPP were killer. Looks like they didn't play Chicago in 2011.....looking it up that was 2010, they had 10 sacks that game. That year, 2010, Eli had 32 turnovers, and they still went 10-6....Why?? Because they had a good defense.
-
Somehow missed this. It really is a daunting task to overcome.....Lucks OL has been pretty bad to, and it has resulted in an 0-2 start.
-
And those guys didn't have historically bad defenses. I know I'm cherry picking here but for a 3 year period with the Bears Jay had a 67% win percentage.....Luck has a career 66% win percentage. When your D is as bad as the Bears D the last 2 1/8 years it's really tough to win games no matter who you are.
-
Certainly not trying to say Jay is better than Luck. Just thought it was an interesting stat and one to use as a frame of reference. Luck's D hasn't been historically bad, so turnovers don't hurt as much as they do for Jay when his D is horrendous. Biggest knock on Jay is turnovers right?
-
Not getting into this again but I will respectively say they are both donkey shit.

Stafford also threw the ball a million times a season because Detroit never had a RB. If you look at the averages you can make a case for Jay being better. Stafford has averaged 7.0 yards per attempt. Jay in his time here averaged 7.1, and 7.2 for his career. So essentially if you look at that, if Jay threw the ball as much as Stafford, he would have more yards. Career Quarterback Rating is also a win for Jay at 85 vs 83. Stafford and Jay are pretty much the same guy except Jay has had Forte to pound the rock so he throws less. Eli once threw 27 INTs in a year, I actually think he's lead the league twice in that category. Your previous post was about consistency. Consistent is not something I would tag on Eli. I know you didn't mention Luck, but his name has been brought up on here in reference to "If you can draft a Luck you do it", guess who has more turnovers dating back to the beginning of last season? Andrew Luck. 35 to 33.....Just thought I'd throw that out there as well

I remember the whole PFF article that said Bushrod was a lateral move from Webb. I honestly think its fairly true. A baby step forward with Bushrod is garbage.
-
Doesn't even need to be a top 5 QB if the D is up to par IMO.
-
FWIW it wasn't a pick 6. It was a pick with 40 seconds to go. Packers just kneeled after. Yes, I suppose you're right it was Hanie who got us into the game. I could say they may have done better with Jay out there in the 2nd half (Hanie threw 2 picks) but I won't go there. Bad example I suppose. I'll give you that one.

Throw out the whole coordinator thing and as you said it's a team sport. Did he not have a sorry group of WRs and a bad OL when the D was playing well? The past 2 and 2/16th seasons has the D not been disatrious? Just based on the fact that he had a solid record with a good D, would I be wrong in thinking that if the D was good now the team would be even better than it was back when he was 30 games over?
