I buy into McPhee as a playmaker personally. Fuller has the potential to be a play maker. It may not be flashy but with Goldman and McDonald on the line they should be really tough to run against. Rolle was still making plays last year. Its not gonna be flashy but it should be effective.

I really don't think itd be the worst thing. Last year the 9ers drafted Jimmie Ward in the first and they moved him to NB. PFF had a little profile on him and it said he lined up over slot receivers a third of the time. He was targeted 39 times and only allowed 14 receptions while getting his hands on 8. QBs had a 13.0 NFL QB rating when throwing his direction. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they drafted him with Jimmie Ward "In mind" as a comp.

That looks about right. I could see Terry Williams and John Timu making the team as UDFAs. They also gave safety Malcolm Brunson a 2 year deal, so I could also see him make the team. Who they replace though? I really don't know.
-
Beat me to it whizz....reading he actually measured in at 5'11" 329 at his pro day...that's still huge for a guy who's 5'11".
-
Add big ol 6'1" 353 pound NT Terry Williams to the list. Can't figure out how to link videos from Youtube on my tablet, but he looks like he could be another UDFA who could make the roster as a backup NT. ....."But Fangio doesn't use big NTs!"

I like where we're at right now, of course it should take a few years to be top 5 level, but I with the coaches and players we have in place it should at the very least be above average. Which after the Ds we have seen the last 2 years will be a welcome sight.

The problem with B is he was apparently being a locker room "Cancer". McDonald has been around Fangio for 4 years now, and I'm sure he had a lot of input on the type of guy he really is in the locker room. Its different IMO. Plus type whole McDonald thing screams "Money grab" on the females part. If you were raped why the hell would you spend the day with that man the next day?

A lot of this could be just me sipping the kool-aid, but for awhile now I've been thinking that this D they put together COULD be pretty good if all it's parts play to their potential. DL Ray McDonald- I think the off the field stuff is really blinding people on just how good McDonald is. Here's a guy who in Fangios very successful time in SF played the 3rd most snaps, so he was obviously a key part to a very good defense. Rotoword said he was one of the best 3-4 DEs in the league last year. Eddie Goldman- They got a guy to take on doubles which will help on every level. The run defense will be really good on the first level. 2nd DE?- We have a plethora of guys who can take this role and chances are one is successful in doing so. Houston if he's not an OLB should be a really solid DE. I see no reason why Ratliff couldn't play DE in a 3-4. Ego showed some potential last year and could be a fit out there as well. Jenkins has showed flashes in the past and if Fangio can get something out of him, look out! LBs Pernell McPhee- When you watch the tape and look at his advanced stats, dude looks like a monster. If he can play to the potential he showed in a limited role in a full time role, we're talking about a pro bowl player. Mason Foster- He was pretty bad last year, but in 2013 he was really solid. People are talking about him as a run stuffer, but in 2013 he was really good in coverage, and after reading what Fangio did with his ILBs, he'll be in coverage a lot. This thread is all about potential, and if we get 2013 Mason Foster, that's gonna be huge. 2nd ILB- Again, in Fangios D, the ILBs drop into coverage a lot, and I think that bodes well for Jon Bostic. As a former safety he's got pretty good coverage skills. He'll have competition though, Christian Jones looked like a boss last year in limited time. I wouldn't be shocked to see him even supplant Foster and we see Jones/Bostic. 2nd OLB- All the bodies here have been talked about ad nauseum. Allen, Young, Houston, Bass, Washington, SMC, Acho...And if he dosn't win an ILB job, or just simply looks better at OLB Christian Jones, who is my dark horse. Just like the 2nd DE spot, I think SOMEONE steps up and ends up being a good OLB. Secondary Kyle Fuller- First half Fuller was a boss, nuff said. Alan Ball- Much like Mason Foster, Ball was not very good last year, but in 2013 PFF had him as a top 20 CB. Bears have great secondary coaches to help get him back to that level of play, and I think that they think they can get him back there. Otherwise giving him a 3M dollar contract would be a huge waste, he's a starter IMO. Tim Jennings- We all know he has been a great player in the past. Has father time stepped in? In the slot I think he should still be able to hang for a little while longer. Antrell Rolle- The leader the D needs out there. Still put up good numbers last year. I think guys like him, film rats, can stick around for for many a years. His leadership will be invaluable. Ryan Mundy- Underrated in my book. One of the most efficient tackling safeties in the league last year. He'll be paired with Rolle who he has experience with which I think will help. Not great in coverage, but he won't be asked to do much in coverage in this scheme. Call me crazy, but I think this is a top 15 D. Like I said in another thread though, the schedule is brutal. If not for that, I think this could be a playoff team.
-
Ha no worries, had a long day myself.
-
Ya this team really has come a long way. If not for a tough schedule Id say there was an outside shot at a wild card. Schedule is brutal though. OT is the only huge need I see left on this team' but then again I'm higher on guys like Ball, Rolle, and Mandy than most.

Woah....I watched hot tub time machine yesterday....am I living it? Lol just messing, I believe you're looking at a 2013 list buddy.
-
Timu looks fairly interesting. Said to be the leader of that very talented Washington team. Undersized but I don't think that really matters to Vic.
-
Ya man, you didn't hear the news? See here he is... www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/corey-crawford?id=2552270 Ugh, not sure why my links aren't clickable.
-
Excellent. His NFL draft profile has a quote from a scout saying hed love to see what he can do at 335.
-
A TON of talent still out there...lots of the safeties people wanted, Joey Mbu, Rob Crisp, Sean Hickey, Josue Matias, Corey Crawford, Zach Vigil, and Aj Tarpley are all guys I've liked.
-
Fwiw NFL.com has him as a 6-7 rounder.
-
Never heard of him but he sounds like a nice little project. Get his weight under control and you might have a guy. Hopefully Ola or someone can step up and get Mills outta here.
-
Amos and Sample were my 2 favorite FSs in this draft so I obviously like this.
-
Meh, I do like Langford a lot, dudes fast. Not a big fan of going RB though.
-
Al Louis-Jean and Sherrick McMannis are getting underrated here. Demontre Hurst and Terrance Mitchell also have some potential IMO. I think all 4 are better than Jordan Mills.
-
One other tackle I've grown fond of the past 12 hours or so is Rob Crisp. Haven't heard much about him but NFL.com has him projected as a 3-4 round pick so he wouldn't be considered a reach. At this point Id rather have JWebb out there over Mills.. #JWebbNation

Not to mention they signed Quiz this year too.
-
I'm hoping they take Clemmings or Darryl Williams or perhaps more preferable Tre Jackson if they think Long can kick outside.
-
I've loved Grass all throughout the draft process but I think I would have taken a chance on Clemmings. All in all I still love the pick. Should be a starter in this league for a long time.
