  1. I really think people are undervaluing the value of the NT position. For the last few years when people brought up the 3-4, one of the main responses from the naysayers was "It's hard to find that big nose tackle to make it work". Now all of a sudden we think we can plug in just any ol guy. I know it's tough for people to look beyond the stats when looking at impact, but really think about it. When you're talking about a guy who demands a double team play in and play out, you're then playing 10 on 9 football. Your pass rushers aren't getting double teamed, your middle linebackers are playing clean, because your pass rushers aren't getting double teamed the pressure you put on the QB is gonna help the secondary. It's not the most glamorous position, but it could very well be the most impactful position. Here's a good article from 2010... http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/...nse-on-the-nose
  2. Zach Zaidman ‏@ZachZaidman 2m2 minutes ago #Bears signed TE Dante Rosario to a one-year contract. I'm cool with it, was hoping for a better #2, and I suppose that's still possible.
  3. Maybe redshirt wasn't the best word to use, I mean I'd be disappointed if we drafted a guy who would be a backup for a year. I get they wanna run the ball and all the talk of RBBC, even IF RBBC is something they wanna do, you don't do a RBBC with Matt Forte and a 1st round pick. Hell you don't do RBBC with Gurley and someone else, because Gurley is gonna be a feature back in this league. If we take an offensive player, I'd much rather it be an OT. You put a good line out there and even guys like Carey are gonna look good AND it's gonna make the QB look good as well. In the end though, I want a defensive player taken.
  4. No thanks on Gurley. I understand him making some sense with Forte possibly gone next season but I don't think we're in the position to draft a red shirt player in the 1R. I wouldn't hate/bash a WR/RB pick, it'd be fun, but I'd be disappointed.

    Veteran Combine

Ya the list is very, very unexciting. I guess that's kinda the point though, buncha guys who are off peoples radars looking to get back on said radars. I always thought Joe Anderson could be something, so he's a little intriguing. Mike Golic Jr. could be a little intriguing if he has put in some work.
  6. Danny Shelton played 90% of the snaps for UW, he's got the motor to stay on the field.
  7. It didn't help that he was out of shape. I think we need a guy who's gonna demand double teams. San Fran had Justin Smith, who while bot a big guy, is a freak who demands double teams. He fits in the category with JJ Watt, who while not big, are guys you have to double team. The Bears don't have that monster like Watt or Smith, so I think they go the route of a big guy. If we roll out Ego-Ratliff-? (Because Fox isnt a bullshitter and called Houston an OLB right?) as the DL, the linebackers are gonna have a much tougher time, because good offensive linemen can take those guys on 1v1 regularly.
  8. I think we've all considered it, I'm just not so sure it happens. I think they'll try him there, but if he's not looking like a pro bowl caliber LT, I'd move him back inside.
  9. Unless the Bears are throwing up a smoke screen with interest in Knighton, Dan Williams, and with their 2 visits to Shelton, they absolutely would like a big guy on that line. Like whizz said both Ratliff and Ego can play absolutely play DE.

Lol I was happy with Tillman/Jennings with Hayden/Frey/Mid rounder last year, but now I'm glad they took Fuller. Who knew Jennings was gonna fall off a cliff and Peanut would get hurt again..... But ya, Bears really need another one in the 1st or 2nd.

Don't sleep on the CB need. We're in a division with Rodgers/Nelson/Cobb, Stafford/Megatron/Tate, and I think Bridegewater is gonna be a good QB with Mike Wallace and probably a 1st round WR (not to mention if they can ever figure out how to use Patterson). Right now we have Fuller who looked the part of a good CB the first month then fell off (Hopefully just because of injuries). Tim Jennings who doesn't belong on the outside, and might not even be any good in the slot anymore. Then we have guys like AL Louis Jean, Demontre Hurst, and Terrance Mitchell who MIGHT have some potential but are far from guys I'd want as the #2. I have CB as our biggest need ATM.
  12. Not a fan. No thanks on a WR this early...It'd be fun though. No thanks on a ILB who's gonna struggle in coverage, esp. when you look at who the OLBs might be. I'm sorry but who the hell is Jacoby Glenn? Had to look him up, everywhere I go I see 4/5 round draft pick. Cool with Campbell, he gave up a lot of gib plays for my Wildcats but overall he'll learn and has a chance to be a good playerr. I do like Bennett as a project. Really think we need to attack the DL sooner than the last pick...Even if you like Houston-Rat-Ego as starters, still need better depth than Sutton and a 6R draft pick.

It's very possible that he's there in the 2R. Here are 9 mock drafts, and not one of them have Thompson in the first. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/mock-drafts http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/mock-draft I'd def love him in the 2R.

That can be said for pretty much every team at every position though. They'd still have a pro bowler in Bennett, the best pass catching back in the league in Forte, and I think they should target a WR later in the draft to add to that mix. Losing Jeffery would suck, but they'd still have guys to throw to.
  15. I could live with that over the drafttek mock that was posted, but I still think ya gotta go with a defensive player in the 1R. The only thing I have a problem with is IF they really think of Houston as an OLB, then another lineman early is a must. I could live with Houston-Ratliff-Ego, but when we start talking about Sutton and especially Allen as starters on the line, that's where I get a bit iffy.....Of course Houstons position is all apart of the unknown, but ya.
  16. I haven't said anything because it's pointless. The guys who don't like Cutler here won't buy it and would spin it as BS.

Another thing worth hating about that draft is no CB till the 5th round. IMO they have to take a corner in the 1st or 2nd. The third at the latest, and I'd only be comfortable with that because Fox and Donatel are 2 of the best when it comes to developing guys in the secondary. I dislike drafttek because the draft picks are sooo off it seems...I mean if it really played out like it did, it would be amazing.... 1- Trae Waynes CB Mich State 2- Carl Davis DT Iowa 3- Gerod Holliman FS Louisville 4- Cedric Ogbuehi OT TX AM 5- Justin Hardy WR East Carolina 6- Jake Ryan ILB Michigan That would be insane!
  18. Lol I've grown to lo love your misspellings....Is it all an act? Chris Borland....And wow, hope this doesn't become and epidemic. I understand it as a human being, but as a fan it would suck.

    I sure hope youre wrong.
  20. They listened.......Just signed guard Vlad Ducasse. Probably not even new thread worthy. He is a former 2R bust.

I wouldn't HATE it but taking an OLB in the 3rd would rub me the wrong way. IF the Bears still think they need another OLB, ya gotta take one of the guys in the 1R. Again I wouldn't hate a WR in the 1R but with the state of the defense the last 2 years I think it'd be a mistake not taking a defensive player there. Whether it be one of the OLBs if they still think thats a need, Danny Shelton, Trae Waynes, or even Landon Collins, one of those guys has to be the pick IMO.
  22. I wouldn't be shocked one bit if he still starts.
  23. John Devine ‏@JohnJDevine 39m39 minutes ago Seaside grad Mason Foster is close to a three-year deal with the Bears, where he'd become a teammate of Palma alum David Fales. Think this about the 3rd time we've heard he's close lol. This guy is a local reporter for the county Foster and Fales are from it appears.
  24. It's certainly possible. Navorro Bowman and Glenn Dorsey missed the whole year. Patrick Willis missed 10 games. Aldon Smith missed 9 games And yet Fangio still managed to coach a team missing 5 really good starters for all/most of the season to a top 5 D. You can kinda look at the Cowboys too. They had a historically bad defense in 2013, got a new DC in 2014 and ended up giving up 1000 less yards, despite losing Shawn Lee and Demarcus Ware. Or you could look at the opposite, and look at the Bears after Lovie left. Yes, a lot could be attributed to age and injuries, but pretty much the same unit went from pretty darn good in 2012 under Lovie, to really fuckin bad in 2013 with out him.
