Somewhat of a larger commitment than I expected for Royal. Fairly clear they expect him to produce well. He's the #2.

Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 22m22 minutes ago #Bears WR Eddie Royal 3-yr deal: $15 million total value with $10 million guaranteed.
-
I still swear he said something about Free Agency allowing him to go BPA, but oh well. BPA is all relative to the FO anyway. They could sell any pick as their BPA.
-
I guess, there's an "out clause" that could make this just a 1 year 8.75M deal if McPhee doesn't work out.....Which I'm sure he will.

Jen Lada @JenLada 21m21 minutes ago Hearing the #Bears are close on a 3 yr deal w/ Mason Foster. ILB has been a FA target since beginning. #NFLFreeAgency Jen Lada @JenLada 20m20 minutes ago New Bears DB coach Ed Donatell was Foster's Def Coordinator at Washington in 2008. LB was Huskies defensive MVP that season. Jen had been right about Rolle. Would be a good signing. Read he struggled in coverage last year, but also read somewhere else that he was real good the year before. Young, talented, immediate starter at ILB.

Pace's line before talking about going BPA often goes over looked. He said something to the extent of "You'd like to be able to get to the point in free agency where you could go BPA" IMO going straight up BPA with holes on your team is silly. What if BPA never matches your hole? Do you just ignore it?

Allen and Young aren't DEs in a 3-4. Nor is Washington, though he seems like the type of athlete who could perhaps put on weight and MAYBE play the position. 3-4 DEs are basically the 3 technique DTs we always talked about. I can't see Allen or Young lined up inside the tackles and being very successful at all.

Just speculating here, but I wonder if the Bears take a look at Wilfork. Rolle tweeted out a day or 2 ago he'd like to play with him. Bears have obviously been lookin for a big boy. He's old, but still effective, much like Rolle himself.
-
He's not making it past Green Bay IMO, would be a huge get for them, so I'm hoping against it. Think he's undervalued because of his size (6'0") but Vic had Willis, Bowman, and Borland play the position all ay 6'0" and under.
-
Was just about to say that. If they sign Pot Roast and a CB then I'm looking to trade down for Eric Kendricks.

Lover hearing these things.... Chicago Bears @ChicagoBears 16m16 minutes ago Giants coach Tom Coughlin said at Combine Antrel Rolle would routinely come to his office on Tuesdays to discuss how team could improve. Chicago Bears @ChicagoBears 16m16 minutes ago Coughlin on Rolle: "I don’t think I was ever involved with a player that was more sincerely interested in how his team could improve."
-
Nope, that's why I'd wait to make that bet. It'd be possible, but highly unlikely IMO.
-
You guys are making me hungry, and I cant decide what cut of meat I want.
-
Might have to bet on that at a later date.
-
Surprised to see 3 years, but the money isn't bad at all. Just 5M guaranteed.
-
Fangios ILBs dropped into coverage more than any other team. Not sure he has his OLBs drop into coverage, that's the ILBs job it would appear.
-
Does said NT consistently draw double teams? Thus making the rest of the defense better?
-
Hey, whataya know, I guess I don't know it all lol good call. I was on pro football reference and they didn't have OLB listed.
-
I certainly get your point, but just don't agree with it. He's the only guy they visited twice, so there's obviously some interest there. Trading back for him would be huge, but I don't think they'd hesitate to take him at 7 if they can't trade back.
-
I don't doubt that they played multiple schemes, but where are you seeing we was a pass rushing OLB? I remember he played DE and moved inside on passing downs, but don't remember reading about OLB. Also Brooks Reid was signed by the Falcons lol
-
Yup, looks official now. Very nice.
-
The Fox and McPhee signings took awhile to become official as well. Could just be Pace's way of doing things, I guess.
-
He's never played OLB. Also, Oakland didn't run a 3-4.
-
Ya, Houston certainly has the size to play DE. I suspect, if they do indeed play him at OLB, that we'll see BOTH he and McPhee play standing up and with their hands in the dirt. I really am intrigued by all this. One thing seems for certain is that Vic is gonna be throwing A TON of different looks at opposing offenses which is a welcome site. Anyone else shocked by the 40 numbers I posted? I always thought Aldon Smith was a 4.5 guy. Seeing that Terrell Suggs and Lamarr Houston ran the same 40 time is also baffling to me. 2 guys who posted a 5 second 40 or higher have started at OLB in a system Fangio was apart of, one of those guys jus had an 11 sack season.

Antrel Rolle @antrelrolle26 · 27m 27 minutes ago I asked God for a sign and this is what I woke up to at 4:33am Monday morning!! What does this… instagram.com/p/0HCpOIDPig/ Incase you can't click that link, it's an orbitz add for flights to chicago.
