Sander Philipse @Bucs_Nation 24m24 minutes ago Wisniewski leaves without a contract Was in Tampa. Hope to see he makes his way here.

I disagree. Their impact goes beyond the numbers. Like your quote from sporting charts stats, the can make an enormous impact in the run game. Not only by preventing offenses to open holes like the quote says, but also by keeping linebackers clean to make plays. In the passing game their ability to take on double teams opens things up for pass rushers to work 1 on 1 and match up against TEs. Just because we were bad enough to be picking at 7, and NTs don't typically go around that spot doesn't mean we should pass on a guy who is gonna make every player on the defense better.

Just for comparison sake here..... Haloti Ngata, who Shelton gets compared to, ran the 20 yard short shuttle at 4.69. Danny Shelton ran it at 4.65. Ngata ran the 3 cone drill at 7.97. Shelton ran it at 7.99. In 2 of the most important drills at the combine, Shelton bested Ngata in one, and was off by .02 in another.

Sigh, not this argument again.
-
I know some here have disputed this, but with the Bears looking at guys like Knighton, Dan Williams, and Shelton(Only prospect they visited twice) who are all NTs, I think at this point they could look at Ratliff and Ego at DE. Certainly could be something they look at in the draft.

Gonna be interesting to see how this all plays out. Speed doesn't look like a necessity for Vic. Between his time in San Fran and Baltimore take a look at the 40s of the guys he's had. Aldon Smith- 4.74 Ahmad Brooks- 4.69 Parys Haralson- 4.80 Terrell Suggs- 4.84 Elvis Dumervill- 4.75 Paul Kruger- 5.00 Courtney Upshaw- 4.76 Jarrett Johnson- 5.07 I'm not even excluding any fast guys to make a point here. Houston ran a 4.84 and Young ran a 4.82. Perhaps he values "Violence" over speed.

Bears GM Ryan Pace: “We’re moving forward with Jay Cutler”
scs787 replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
Again I say.... Jeff Dickerson @ESPNChiBears 16m16 minutes ago Pace continues to insist the #Bears never explored trading Jay Cutler. Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 16m16 minutes ago On Jay Cutler: I spoke with as many QB-needy teams as I could to see if #Bears GM Ryan Pace tried to trade Cutler. None said he did. -
Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 17m17 minutes ago John Fox says Lamarr Houston will be played first at OLB, which is what is expected. Now that is interesting.

Consistent with what Mort said.

Love this guy.

Tom Pelissero @TomPelissero 21m21 minutes ago Da'Norris Searcy's deal with #Titans is 4 years, $23.75 million, but only the $7M he makes in 2015 is fully guaranteed. Not a bad benchmark for a Parker deal.

Wouldn't HATE Cooper, but really think we should get someone for the defense at 7. Collins in a trade down would be OK, and I suppose if they like him enough I wouldn't bash the pick at 7. I trust Fox and Donatel when it comes to the secondary. so whatever they decide to do with it, I'll wait and see. I'm hoping for Parker at FS with Rolle and Mundy fighting for SS.

Yaaaa, no. You realize Tebow completed just 47% of his passes the year he started? Jay actually DID go to a pro bowl under Shanny.
-
It was a good situation last year until the OL started to get banged up and ultimately sucked. I don't know about 7 pro bowls and all of that, but I don't think its crazy to say he would have gotten a few more. Shanny seemed to know how to utilize his strengths by rolling him out of the pocket a ton. He was also only sacked 11 times his pro bowl year.....38 times in 2 years. The same number of times he was sacked last year.
-
Don't remember why, but I think dude is another headcase. We probably pass.
-
I'm hoping they snag this guy. Intriguing athlete for Fox/Donatel to mold. 6', 4.35 speed, former corner, was in Seattle a few years playing behind the LOB, and was apart of the #2 ranked pass defense last year.
-
Don't know if anyone else caught Mort on Carmen and Silvy (I believe, was AM1000, about an hour ago), but his sources said the Bears never tried to trade Cutler. Said they would of entertained calls, but weren't actively trying to trade him. Another fun part of it that you guys will get a kick out of.....He said if Shanny never left the Broncos Cutler would have 7 pro bowl appearances and a super bowl ring.

Can't find the tweet, thought Lemming retweeted it but i guess not but.....Someone posted a break down of targets per route ran the other day. 3 years ago Marshall lead the league at 37% (Meaning of the routes he ran, he was targeted 37% of the time), then 2 years ago it was 27%, and last year it was 22%. Once Jay actually got some talent other than B, he spread the ball around a lot more. I really see no reason to believe it was anything more than him rubbing the new staff the wrong way.

Could just be waiting on a physical to make it official.

Still trying to figure out what former Raven didn't produce outside of Baltimore? Sure Paul Kruger only had 4.5 sacks his first year in Cleveland but he also had 51 pressures which is pretty damn good. I know some here don't buy into the whole "pressure is production" line of thinking but it's true. Those pressures by Kruger turned into sacks the following year. Just like how Willie Young had a lot of pressures in 2013 and those turned into a 10 sack season in 2014.
-
They have been connected to the Raiders center so there's that....The FA Guard/Tackle market blows.
-
Lol, didn't want you to not say what ya felt, I was just disputing it. Paul Kruger played the McPhee role before McPhee (Both bigger OLBs who also played with their hands in the dirt), and he racked up 11 sacks last year in Cleveland. Ironically both players got 5 year 40M contracts. Jameel McClain had 116 tackles for the Giant last year. Arthur Jones was considered a really good run stuffer for the Colts. They gave up 4.6 yards per carry and 12 rushing touchdowns in 7 games without him in the lineup to just 3.7 yards per carry and two rushing touchdowns in 9 games with him in the lineup. James Ihedigbo was a pro bowl alternate. Corey Graham was the 8th ranked CB by PFF, and was the Bills team captain. I'm actually having a hard time finding a player who HASN'T had success outside of Baltimore..... Bart Scott to an extent. Didn't put up big numbers but was still a good player.

I'd like to quote both of these, and give you an All-22 on Aldon Smith. http://www.ninersnation.com/2014/11/21/725...49ers-pass-rush As you see here, Stinger is spot on with saying he fills the Smith role. Aldon was used with hand in the dirt and in a 2 point stance just like McPhee.

Dude was stuck behind Suggs and Dumervil. Hard to fault him for that.
