    Wilfork?

Depends on what the organization thinks about our chances of a quick turnaround. I, perhaps with a lot of blind faith, think they have an outside chance at competing for a playoff spot, so I'd be cool with taking a shot on Wilfork. That said there's a lot of Young talent out there that could help beyond just the next year or 2, so the money is probably used better elsewhere. Like on Terrence Knighton who is 5 years younger.
  4. I wouldn't really say 6th and 7th round picks are precious. I haven't found anything recent, but I read an article on scout.com from 2011 that looked into every single draft pick from 2000 to 2010. It said that only 6% of players drafted after the 4th round have went on to become "solid starters", something like 166 out of 2000+. IF Fangio liked what he saw, it'd be worth giving up a 6/7. I think they're asking for a late round pick because they have no leverage in any trade talks. Again I'm just saying that at the very least, this is a guy who can come in and compete.
  5. Ya, San Fran has quite the logjam at ILB. I have no idea how the whole ERFA thing works, but I'd have to imagine that those rights would transfer over to the Bears meaning he could be resigned at the minimum and would have to take it. The difference between him and Marshall is the Broncos actually need Marshall, so he's staying put.
  6. The 49ers are putting ILB Michael Wilhoite on the trading block, reportedly looking for a 6th or 7th round pick. He beat out Chris Borland last year to win the starting ILB job for Fangio. His stats weren't eye popping or anything, but he did start a whole season for a top 5 defense. At the very least you typically won't get a guy in the 6th or 7th round that could come in and compete for an ILB spot right out of the box. If Fangio likes this guy, getting a starting ILB for a 6th round pick would be huge.
  7. Well you can compare the 2 but I just think it's a little silly/unfair to compare a sure fire hall of famer with Jay Cutler.
  8. You can't rreally compare Jay and Aaron Rodgers though. I really think Aaron Rodgers could go down as one of the greatest QBs of all time. My biggest take away from those articles is that Jay is apparently friends with Gase, so Jay should be happy this year with his OC.
  9. What about with a good defense? Ya know like the 3 years he went 27-13. As I said, I'm cool with trading Cutler, but think it's still possible to win with him.

    Brian Hartline?

Hartline, from what I read numerous times on rotoworld, was considered wildly overpaid at 5.9M. I think if the Bears can get him at half that for 1 or 2 years I'd be happy with that.
  11. I think under the right circumstances you can win with Cutler. I think you need your Head Coach to be that strong leader that Cutler just isn't, and you need a good defense, which is the case with nearly every QB sans the truly elite ones. I think John Fox is that strong vocal leader, and now they just need to get the defense straightened out. Remember, for a 3 year stretch Jay was 27-13 and went to an NFC title game. 2 of those years he didn't have Marshall, he had Alshon 1 year but he only started 6 games and didn't emerge yet, and he only had 1 year with a legit TE. All that said, even I will say if you can trade him, go for it.
  12. Yawn. I don't think any QB could contend with the D we've had the last 2 years.
  13. Andddd then I remember about Pace talking about character and my dreams crash. I really think he'd fit money and skill wise but character wise probably not. I'll move on to McCourty.

    Brian Hartline?

Interesting. Bears would give him a better chance at winning, Browns would give him a chance to play near his hometown. Question is, what's more important to him. If he signs here I'd guess B is a goner, though I suppose B, Alshon, Hartline could work in D. Thomas, Erik Decker, Wes Welker sort of dynamic. I'd prefer what Gase had last year in a Thomas/Welker/Emmanuel Sanders dynamic though.
  15. I kinda doubt he gets 100M to be honest. 1. He's not better than JJ Watt and 2. he's 3 years older than Watt. Watt got 7/100 at age 25, so his contract would be up age 32. Suh, if he were to get a similar deal would have a contract through age 35, which while possible, I doubt. I think 5/80 is more realistic. Watts average per year is 16.6, I think Suh gets 16 flat, I'd do that all day. Suh-Ratliff-Houston Grab an OLB and ILB with the first 2 picks. Young-2R/Bostic/Jones-1R Grab Rahim Moore and Chis Culliver for 4M each CB- Fuller-Culliver-Jennings-Louis Jean FS- Moore-Vereen SS-Mundy-3/4R pick. Boom.
  16. Johnsons cap hit is nearly 7 million dollars higher than B (9.5 vs 16.1). I know the supposed idea of getting rid of B is because he's a "Cancer", but it should also mean saving some cap space. I say pass on adding a guy 3 years older, 6.6 million dollars more expensive, and probably the worse player of the 2. MAYBE if he's cut, but he still probably gets more on the open market than what I would want the Bears paying a 34 year old WR.
  17. Pretty much this. This board would be a ghost town if people weren't here at least trying to connect dots.
  18. Sadly he's not a RFA, he's an "exclusive rights free agent". Again this means the he can only negotiate with the Broncos. The Broncos can give him the minimum and call it a day. We can't offer him anything that they have to match. It's a unique label (ERFA) as the article I posted said.
  19. If by poison pill you mean Brandon Marshall poisons the entire Bronco front office then yes, maybe he becomes a free agent lol.
  20. Ricky Jean played DE for them, next to Isaac Sopoaga...Who is listed at 6'2" 330. Yes, Vics NTs were smallish the past 2 years, but his first 2 years they had ^^^ that big ol chunk of meat, so I wouldn't rule out Shelton just because the last 2 years there were "smaller" guys playing the position. In fact, the best D they had over Vics 4 years was when big ol Sopoaga was in there. They gave up 14 PPG and 77 rushing yards per game. Last year those numbers were 21 and 100.
  21. I was the first guy on the Brandon Marshall train, but upon further review he is what is considered an exclusive rights free agent. Here's a breakdown on what that means.... http://espn.go.com/blog/denver-broncos/pos...randon-marshall I read elsewhere that they can offer him a minimum contract and he HAS to take it (meaning he can't negotiate). That article goes on to say... So ya, sadly Brandon Marshall isn't an option unless he pisses in someones cereal.
  22. I actually read that he finished the year at 218 which is pretty impressive. I'm sure when he gets that fat check and gets around a professional strength and conditioning coach he'll get to a weight where he thrives.
  23. Thoughts on Paul Dawson? He looked awful at the combine, but I think he's a player in this league. He was Mayocks top ILB. If Fangio wants his guys to drop into coverage like they did in SF, then the FA market looks pretty thin as well. Rolando McClain is pretty interesting, if they think he turned his life around for good then he would be the best guy out there and is only 26. After McClain you have a bunch of 2 down LBs in David Harris, Brandon Spikes, Nate Irving and Rey Maualuga. I'm not sure any are a true fit if Fangio sticks with what he's done. Michael Wilhoite a guy who had to start for Fangio last year might be a bit interesting. He's not an automatic starter, but could come in and compete with Jones and Bostic.
  24. Gregory was sick before the combine. It's March 1st, season doesn't start till September 13th. That's 6 months to put on 20 pounds. Jared Allen was sick in the middle of the season last year, lost 18 pounds, and put on 5 1 week. 20 pounds in 6 months is nothing. March 11th is Gregorys pro day, I wouldn't be shocked if he shows up at least 10 pounds heavier just a month later from when he weighed in at 235.
