Yeah, having Rodgers, who could go down as the GOAT, certainly makes that team the power it is. You take Rodgers and replace them with say Jay Cutler, or even a guy like say Phillip Rivers who's a damn good QB and that franchise looks completely different. Since 2008, the year Rodgers first became the starter, their defense only ranked in the top 10 twice in those 7 years. And I always hear about how bad their OL has been. Rodgers is what makes that team look good.

I can agree with this.
-
If they find themselves in discusions with a guy like Justin Houston or Devin McCourty, and end up needing more money, then absolutely. An extra 1M in dead cap for a few year isn't gonna put them in cap hell. If we go after mid tier guys then 29M should be more than enough.
-
I'd gladly take their 2R pick, or perhaps a 3rd and a 4/5. WR class is stacked. On a team that is supposed to run the ball more often, Alshon, Bennett, Forte, Wilson, and a 2-4R rookie are more than enough weapons for the passing game.

Just an opinion man. I'm not saying they can't play NT, but I'm of the opinion that they can play both.
-
And I'm of the opinion that so is Josh McCown. I think Josh is more of what we saw in Tampa then what we saw against a bunch of bad defenses in Chicago. McCown last year- 11 games 56% comp% 3.4 TD% 4.3 INT% 70.4 Passer Rating 35.71 QBR Sanchez- 9 games 64% comp% 4.5 TD% 3.6 INT% 88.4 Passer Rating 58.3 QBR I don't want either, but if I had to choose I'd probably take Sanchez. I know I'm one of the few guys here that are down on McCown, but I don't think it's crazy at all to think that he's more Tampa Josh than Bears Josh. Esp. when you consider before the 2013 season, what he did in Tampa was pretty much the norm. In his 44 starts not including the ones in Chicago, Josh has a 4.0 INT%.

Eh, if they really think they should move on from Cutler it shouldn't just be McCown or a draft pick. To me anyway, I'd much rather go with a guy like Jake Locker anyway. I think Matt Moore is better than McCown if they wanna go older game manager type. Ryan Mallett could potentially offer more upside than McCown (and probablt every QB not named Jameis or Marcus in the draft). I think if Hoyer wasn't throwing to midgets all year he'd be a better QB than Josh. Hell I'd probably even take the Sanchize over Josh. All that said I think Jay probably stays, and I'm fine with that.

I don't see why you doubt it, but ok.

Young is listed at 6'4" 251. I think the smallest you might see a 3-4 DE is around 270. 3-4 DEs are basically the 3 techniques we've talked about in the 4-3 for years. Bass is around the same size. Rat and Ego are both capable at DE, and possibly NT. I think all 3 are best suited outside, so I disagree that Houston is the only guy. I'd say NT is worse off IMO...Though Fox has said he likes Rat there. As for this thread....Knighton, Culliver, Moore, Green, and Jeremy Parnell are the guys I want

SportsCenter @SportsCenter 11m11 minutes ago CORRECTION: Adrian Peterson has not been reinstated. Judge ruled against NFL in his appeal, case will go back to CBA process.

Yup, and with what Pace said about character, I highly doubt we take him. I of course have no problem taking Shelton. I would prefer an OLB at this point, but wouldn't be surprised if the staff has identified 2 guys already on the roster or in FA that they would like. Or I suppose they could go with a guy like Eli Harold, Benadrick McKinney, or Owamagbe Odighizuwa in the 2nd.

My "beef" with you saying screw the tape is because I think it's silly to ignore, and that I'm under the impression you're making your decision based solely off his combine numbers, which again to me is silly. Wilforks stock was hurt due to "lackadaisical effort during his junior season". That's fine you don't think he's a top 10 pick, but I'll side with pretty much every expert out there and what my eyes tell me when watching tape, and say he's worthy of a top 10 pick. Also if you think Shelton is too big why is Knighton on you wish list? He was listed at 335 last season and reports are he was more than that.
-
2 of the 4 years he had 6'2" 321 pound Isaac Sopoaga as his starting NT. 6'2" 316 pound Glenn Doresy isnt ecaxtly a light weight either. This conversation is obviously pointless if you're gonna say screw the game tape. And even further pointless because I've moved on to wanting one of the OLBs (But not because I don't think Shelton isn't a stud).
-
I think the 3/4 actually makes for a little easier transition when talking about these hybrid or tweener type guys. When you take a guy like SMC and put him at DE it's gonna be much tougher for him to succeed. Whereas I think the transition to a full time LB for these tweeners is easire because often times they're undersized, and getting them out in space will help them utilize their speed more.
-
And his game tape as well. Have you watched him play at all or are you just basing your decision on the fact that a guy who's gonna have to run 5 yards top ran a bad 40? http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-senior-bowl/...p-Danny-Shelton http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000047...despite-40-time (note the talk of his 30.5 inch vertical, which is phenomenal)
-
Stamina doenst nessesarily mean speed. Not just numbers, I watched him absolutely dominate at the senior bowl against the top prospects in the draft. I'd rather base my opinion on his senior bowl performance than his combine results, esp as a DT. A DT isn't gonna be running more than a few yards.
-
Uhh, one of Sheltons pluses is his stamina.
-
The problem is finding the right spot for these hybrid guys. You can throw SMC in with that discussion.

It's all about getting the right coaching and having the light turn on so to speak. Beasley was third in the nation in tackles for loss per game and eighth in sacks per game in 2014, and third in the nation in tackles for loss, tied for third in sacks and tied for 10th in caused fumbles in 2013. The only numbers not there are the tackles numbers. Beasley played DE in college, and while 34 is still low, it's not horrendous for a defensive lineman.

I'll let my girl Jen Lada answer this.... Jen Lada @JenLada 12m12 minutes ago AJ Hawk is a capital T, Tremendous guy. But not a pass rusher & too often slow in coverage. Coming off surgery, don't be tempted, Bears.

Luckily, with a new head coach, they'll have 24 days vs just 10 days to practice before the draft so they should get a good idea of what they have. Would absolutely love to hear that Washington has developed and has a chance at wining an OLB job. For as much love Beasley is getting for his combine numbers, CW put up numbers right there with him. 40 time- Beasley 4.53 CW 4.53 10 Yard- Beasley 1.59 CW 1.60 Bench- Beasley 35 CW 36 Vert- Beasley 41 CW 39 Broad- Beasley 10-10 CW 10-8 CW was also bigger and has longer arms. If he takes to the coaching he could end up being a monster.

All about his contract, age, and quality at RB in the draft. Forte "produced" because of what the offense became last year. His yards per carry and yards per catch were extremely underwhelming. I know the OL was bad but still, Forte is turning 30 this year and could save the Bears 8M...Here's a chart on RBs after age 27.. I mean you yourself created a thread about trading Forte for a 3R pick. Arthur Brown was a 2R pick who I still believe is immensely talented. I would gladly take him or a 3rd round pick as I think it's time to move on.

So long as they couple it with adding a FS (I view Collins as a SS), a CB, another piece for the DL, and potentially an ILB if they view Jones as an OLB I'd be happy with it. The OLB position would be an audition for Young, Allen, Jones, SMC, Washington, and Bass. I think it's possible they could find 2 starters out of that group. They'd have Bostic and possibly Jones or FA at ILB DL would be Houston-Ratliff-FA/Ego/Sutton. CB would be Fuller-FA-Jennings. Safety would be FA-Collins. That has some potential IMO. If they can get the offense back to a top 5 O that D should be strong enough to win some games. RE: DGB- From what Pace and Fox have talked about concerning character I'm not so sure they'd take DGB. I'd say swapping him out with Sammie Coates or Phillip Dorsett would be more likely were they to go WR in the 2nd. I'd love either of those 2 guys. Coates is a little bit raw, and shorter than DGB but is even more of a freak athlete. Dorsett is super short, but offers that same elite deep threat Coates does while also being the more refined WR.

Love em. If the fact he showed up light to the combine drops him to 7, that's my pick.
