Valid point, but if you watched him at the senior bowl, against the top talent in the nation you can tell dude is gonna be a player.

I'm not sure I do notice. Knighton yes, but he's stuck with Del Rio. Most of the teams that have had good 3-4s have had that 1 guy that has been a constant force. Baltimore has had Ngata forever, GB has had Raji forever, Pats have ran a hybrid with Wilfork forever, before recently SF had Sopoaga for 8 years and also have Justin Smith who demands double teams, Arizona has had Darnell Dockett and Calias Cambell for awhile. Not a NT but the Texans have had Watt for a few years. When you have a guy like those guys you hold onto em. And if you don't have someone like those guys, you better go out and get one. Houston-Ratliff-Ego might be passable but it's gonna make the LBs job much harder because none of those guys really command a double.
  3. 1. He out produced Ginn, the player we're talking about, last year and 2. Mariani is actually a former pro bowl return man. Injuries are obviously a concern, but in this discussion of Ginn vs Mariani, I'll take Mariani. That's not to say I wouldn't look for another guy capable of returning though should Mariani get hurt again.

I'd trade Forte for Brown everyday of the week.

I'm hoping for Knighton but he's been following Jack Del Rio around from the Jags and then Denver, so I kinda think that trend will continue and he goes to Oakland. Houston would be awesome but he probably gets franchised.

Think you may have missed the point here......Shelton had 98 tackles in one season. Those numbers you posted, along with Rajis numbers were amassed over 4 seasons. Sutton may or may not be a fit, Ratliff only has a year left on his contract, Paea probably gets paid for a career year and I'm not sure it should be by us, Houston is bit of a mystery as he was fairly decent in Oakland but totally blew last year so he could end up being a cut candidate. Ego should be a long term contributor, but after that there's no one you can really say that guy will no doubt be on the line come 2016.
  7. It's possible he can hang at either position IMO. After learning what I learned about Vics ILBs dropping into coverage often, I think he'd be perfect for that here.
  8. Can't ignore 98 tackles, 16.5 TFL, and 9 sacks. I don't care if he's slower than Rich Eisen, when you put up those numbers as a DT, you can play in the NFL.
  9. He's versatile enough to play all 4 LB positions. I think he'll play OLB while Young is out then shift inside to ILB upon Youngss return....Unless he gets beat out by Allen, SMC, Bass, or Washington. Coming out of the draft scouting reports were calling him a Rush LB. I like looking at the 3 cone drill when evaluating LBs and when you look at Jones 3 cone drill, it's not too far off the guys we've all been talking about. Jones- 7.03 Beasley- 6.91 Fowler- 7.40 Harold- 7.07 Will be interesting to see what/if Ray, Dupree, Gregory run this at their pro days.

Fun stat. Bj Rajis had 99 tackles and 9 sacks in 4 years in college. Danny Shelton had 98 tackles and 9 sacks in 2014.
  11. It's possible, not a lot of teams have a need for a NT which will hurt. He won't fall to far though. His 3 cone drill was comparable to BJ Rajis and Raji still went top 10.
  12. WF just did their post combine mock and gave us... 1R-Shelton 2R-PJ Williams CB 3R- AJ Cann OG 4R- Shane Carden QB Meh... I'd switch it up and go 1R- Beasley OLB- obvious 2R- Shaq ILB- According to WF, teams are putting a 2R grade on him. 3R- Grasu OC- obvious 4R- Ty Montgomery WR- Potential pro bowl returner, with some upside as a WR. Could be a steal. That all coupled with Knighton (Though I bet he follows Del Rio to Oak), Chris Culliver, Rahim Moore, and Jeremy Parnell(OT), and I think we'll be looking at a quick turnaround.

Perhaps he's relatively unknown on here because everyone knows we aren't getting him, but Leonard Williams is gonna be the top defender taken, perhaps even at #2. I subscribe to the whole it starts up front line of thinking, and would have no problem taking a defensive linemen in the first. At this point though with all the talent at OLB, those guys are gonna be really hard to pass up.

    Arthur Brown

Depending on the price I'd love it. He was rumored to be on the trading block last year. Looking back at his draft profile he was compared to Navorro Bowman, so I'd say he'd be a good fit in Fangios D.

He's still gonna be a damn good player IMO, and if for whatever reason the Bears decide to grab an OLB in FA I'd still love to have him. You dont record 98 tackles from the DT position if you aren't really good at stopping the run.
  16. Maybe. I kinda feel like we have pretty solid depth at OLB. I think we'll just add one starter (Probably from the draft) then work with the guys we have. I think Christian Jones fills in admirably for Young while hes out.
  17. I like Mauldin a bit as a guy who will set the edge, but I don't think he'll bring much as a pass rusher. MAYBE if they think they already have that "Rush" LB in one of Young, Allen, Jones, SMC, Washington, or Bass, they could opt to go for a guy like Mauldin to play on the other side who's gonna set the edge and help in rush defense. Or maybe they double up on OLBs, but I highly doubt we don't see one of the Bears I listed as a starting OLB for this team next year.
  18. Jones actually looked pretty good IMO, and Bostic does have a background as a safety and also hasn't been bad in coverage so it could bode well for him...That said I wouldn't be at all surprised if neither stick or if they add one ILB and let those guy compete for the other spot. McKinley is another guy who get's lost in coverage from what I've read. Also keep in mind that Patrick Willis, Navorro Bowman, and Chris Borland are just 6'1", 6'0", and 5'11" respectively, so McKinley's stud size isn't necessarily a necessity when looking at ILBs. I really like Kendricks. He's a leader who comes with top notch cover skills. No matter how much I like Bostic and Jones, if he falls to the 2R that's my guy. Ben Heeney is a guy who I heard get compared to Chris Borland and I think he could end up being a mid-late round gem like Borland.
  19. Not a big Perryman fan for the same reason I'm no longer a Harris fan, neither guy is good in coverage. I got my eyes on Kendricks in the 2nd if he gets there. And that's if the Bears think we even need an ILB. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they think Jones/Bostic make a good duo with their coverage abilities.
  20. Ted Ginn isn't a #3 WR though. The guy they draft doesnt have to be just a KR, there are guys in the draft who could be better WRs and better returners than Ginn.
  21. Meh, pass. Mariani was actually better than him last year returning kicks and he's a fairly mediocre WR. Ginn- 22 returns for 417 yards Mariani- 20 returns for 510 I think we either stick with Mariani or draft a guy.
  22. Rarely do you see "Marty Barrett, scout for the Bears had this to say about..." It's almost always "One AFC scout..." or "One NFC scout..." Manziel pretty much played in a "Jailbreak" offense where often times he just ad libed with his feet and somehow made it work....Jameis comes from a pro style offense. That right there is the biggest difference between the 2. He won't be Peyton Manning, but the comp I like to throw on him is Phillip Rivers. Esp. in terms of leadership, where both are very vocal and animated leaders. Also...Now that I read that article DB, it's Steve Mariucci, not Steve Young that talked about him....I was about to post the video of Mooch thinking it was something different.
  23. Ya, his bit with Mariucci showed off how football smart the guy is. He's gonna be something special. Not a chance in hell it happens but if peoples dream of getting a 1st for Jay were to come to fruition I'd LOVE to trade our 2 first rounders+ for Winston....No chance Tampa gives up the first though.
  24. Ya, Gregory and Beasley are my top 2 picks ATM. I haven't walked away from Ray just yet either, but I'm hoping his pro day is televised because I'm not yet 100% sold on him either. Esp. after reading this..
  25. A 4.6 flat but his 10 yard split was the same as Beasley. His 3 cone drill, which is perhaps the best drill to look at, was a rather unimpressive 7.40 though. For reference Beasley ran a 6.91.
