He was unimpressive in the short burst stuff as well sadly. 10 yard split was 2nd worst as well, and his cone drill was 4th worst. It was a tough showing for him, but IMO he's a gamer who knows how to play football. You don't rack up 93 tackles, 15.5 TFL, and 9 sacks if you aren't really good at football. That said I am turned off by him at 7 but wouldn't absolutely hate it if they still took him there. This edge rusher group is somethin special though. Beasley, Fowler, Ray, Dupree, Gregory, Harold, Owa Odighizuwa looks like he could play some 3-4, loved the guy out of Harvard, Zach Hodges, intensity, and Danielle Hunter had a real nice showing. So much athleticism in that group, and so deep.
  2. In the scenario given I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities they go after a guy like Suh or Justin Houston. I mean after all those trades their cap number would be up over 50M, and with all the young talent they would be bringing in here having one huge contract wouldn't kill them at all. Again in this scenario I'd say Tevin Coleman dropping to the 3rd is probably less likely to happen than the Bears bringing in Suh, Houston, or even McCourty. With the plethora of OLBs in the draft and with Fox/Donatell's ability to develop guys in the secondary I'd go with Suh in this scenario.
  3. Possssibly. I'm one of Jays biggest fans but I'd even admit that the chances of a 1st or even a 2nd seems slim to me with his contract. I'd say a 3rd and a 4th at best. Forte has one year left on his contract and its a pretty big number on that 1 year, again I'd say probably 3rd at best. You'd think B would have some trade value but the reports we've seen kinda say otherwise. Again I'd say a 3rd rounder at best seems more likely. But then again the Browns got a 1st round pick for Trent bleepin Richardson so I could be way off on each player.
  4. I can agree that tape is the most important, which is why I still like Shelton....Beasleys biggest knock was size, he checked off that box in a big way. Not only is he bigger than a lot thought, he's also strong as funk. At the very least he went from reach-ish at 7 to a legit top 10 pick in my book.

He'll still be a real good player, but more than likely not a game changer. If for whatever reason we traded down and all thetop OLBs are gone or we signed a OLB I,d still take him.

5.66 is not what I was expecting at all. For reference, he gets compared to Wilfork and Ngata and those guys ran 5.03 and 4.99 respectively. Still though you can't just ignore the production he had. He'll be a good player, but I'm now kinda backing off him at 7.
  7. And there's no way in hell we get a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Jay, B, and Forte. Its a game, its all for funsies.
  8. I think Beasley may have leap frogged every other OLB including Gregory these past 2 days.
  9. Alright finally got some time on the computer.... In this fantasy world I'm gonna say Suh hits FA and the Bears sign him along with Culliver, Moore, Wes Welker, Virgil Greene, and Jake Locker 1. Beasley OLB- Raised his stock a ton today just by showing up 10 pounds heavier than most expected and threw up 35 reps, might not make it down to this hypothetical mid round spot but freak it... 1. Shaq Thompson ILB- After reading about how much coverage Fangio had his ILBs do in SF I think grabbing Shaq would go a long way in keeping a lot of what Vic did in SF the same. 2. Cameron Irving OL- I put OL because he's an interesting cat who could probably play anywhere on the line. I say let him and Long both work out at OT and OG and make a decision on who should go where. 2. Carl Davis DT- Love this kid and think he's a perfect fit as a 5T or NT. Between Suh, Rat, Houston, Ego, Davis, and Sutton we would have a nice deep front 3. Ratliff only has a year left, and if Houston continues to blow he could be a cut candidate next year so it's not really over kill here. 2. Devin Smith WR- We need a deep threat, we get a deep threat. I've seen Alshon get compared to Demarius Thomas, I brought in Welker, and now we need an Emmanuel Sanders, and that can be Devin Smith. 3. Hroniss Grasu OC- We all want this kid in the 3rd I think. Irving-Long-Grasu-Slauss-Bushrod would be nasty. 3. Tevin Coleman RB- I highly doubt he actually make it this far (Early 3rd), but I'm taking what the mock gives me. Coleman behind the guys above would be fun to watch. Guy is gonna be a workhorse. 4. Bryce Petty QB- Locker probably only gets a 1 or 2 year contract, Petty backs him up, and with any luck becomes a starter after Locker is gone. 6.Ibraheim Campbell SS- Competition for Mundy at SS. I'm a NW fan and he gave up a lot of big plays in coverage but as a box safety he could be solid. 7. Levi Norwood WR- More depth at WR.

Surprised to see his arms were pretty short at 32 inches (3rd shortest among DTs). San Fran had a philosophy of taking D-linemen with long arms. I wonder if that was something Fangio wanted or if it was just the GM. I still love him, but am a little less "turned on" by him. A dream first 2 picks at this moment for me would be Beasley and Carl Davis. Davis fits that mold of what Fangio had with them long arms (Tied for 3rd longest) and he also dominated the Senior Bowl.
  11. I was kinda big on Harris BUT I read yesterday that the 9ers ILBs, both Willis and Bowman, drop into coverage more than any other team. If Fangio continues to want guys who play well in coverage in the middle David Harris is not that guy. But that's not to say they can't scheme around it.
  12. It is, but dude has big time talent. He was considered a top 5 talent when he was thought to be be 6'6" 245, and I don't think its crazy at all to think he can add 10-15 pounds of good weight before the regular season.
  13. Randy Gregory weighing in at 6'5" 235 could end up pushing him down to 7. I'd take that chance, putting on good pounds shouldn't be too hard.
  14. My question to you is where do they spend the 52M they'd have in cap space? I think team have to pay a penalty if they don't use 95% of their cap or something like that. Teams do do it (10 teams last year) but for whatever reason I can't see the Bears doing it.
  15. Fox has done a pretty good job developing pieces in the secondary (Former DBs coach) so it wouldn't surprise me if a guy like Al or Demontre turn out to be something.....Our new DBs coach is also said to be one of the best in the business.....That said I still think we should add a starting CB in FA.
  16. 40 time certainly isn't that important, and WF could be wrong, but between Ray, Fowler, Beasley, and Dupree they actually have Ray projected to have the worst 40 of the bunch at 4.84....I'm more interested in the 20 yard shuttle though. Somewhat interesting to note that Beasley, who I didn't really like because he was viewed as undersized, actually weighed in more than Ray.

    Cutler

Possible. I searched the quote DB posted and it appears he got it from ChiCitySports, posters there said that its nothing new and that it is indeed true. Can't find any "Legit" sources confirming it, but the way they're talking about it there they sure do think it's true. They seem to believe the Bears are just putting it back out there now in an effort to stir up trade talks.

    Cutler

You'd have to imagine if the deal is under 15M the Bears just pay him the difference right? If not he'd be crazy to take anything over 15. Jay was guaranteed 38M in his contract, Bears gave him 22.5 of it last year so I assume the deal is the Bears have to get that 15.5 with the kicker that another team can chip in to get him there.
  19. Fortes 3.9 YPC ranked 25th among RBs with 100+ carries. Yes he caught a lot of balls but that's more a product of what the offense became last year more than anything. His 7.9 yard per catch ranked 20th among RBs who caught more than 25 balls. Yes, the OL was banged up which had a lot to do with it, but I think Forte is about to hit that wall, if he hasn't already. He's been worked to the ground.

    Cutler

Winston is only Manziel-esque off the field, he's nothing like Manziel on the field, and not really Russell like either. Russell just had a huge arm, Manziel was just an escape artist. Winston is gonna be a baller, but ya, still not worth the picks.

    Cutler

"The attraction of a trade being that a team would get him and avoid getting caught up in a bidding war for his services if he were cut and a free agent." That's from the quote he pulled. A vet and a mid-late round pick could make some sense....Or they could possibly like Hundley or Grayson in the 2R.
  22. Yup, said it in another thread, wouldn't hate it one bit if he was gone. 8.2M is a ton of money and unless they think Carey is the future, this would be the draft to get your RB of the future.
  23. scs787

    Cutler

I'd go with a vet. If they're gonna save money to re-haul the D then I think we should go with a guy thats been around. Locker intrigues me a bit because he's never really had talent around him in Tennessee. Ryan Mallett has never really gotten a chance to show anything and I would trust him over what would likely be, at best Brett Hundley. Christian Ponder might be better with some actual weapons around him. And then I guess there's that McCown fellow.
  24. scs787

    Cutler

Interesting. We all know I'm a Cutler fan but this certain is a bit intriguing when you consider that this is supposed to be a really good free agent class. If they can completely re-haul on defense they might be able to get by with a sub par QB. I'm still not in favor of McCown as the starter, I'd rather take a shot on Ryan Mallett, Christian Ponder, Matt Moore, or Jake Locker. My main beef with cutting Cutler before was it really did nothing to help the team financially. This new wrinkle throws a wrench into that logic. All that said, I do think they can win with him and the money that they already have but now I can go either way.
  25. I could really care less about what the media talks about, really no one should. I HIGHLY doubt we "Tank". You don't bring in the coaching staff they brought in to lose. They have the money to put players out there to try and compete and I'm sure that's the goal. The only cut I wanna possibly see is Matt Forte. This draft class is stacked with RBs, Forte is at the age where he's soon gonna hit a wall, and it frees up 8 mill. Do work in FA, draft another stud for the D in the first then draft Coleman, Yeldon, or Abdullah in the 2nd...Or quite possibly wait till the 3rd and grab Duke Johnson or Jay Ajayi.
