Ya, we certainly seem to be scratchin the bottom of the barrel here. Perhaps old man Shanny might be iinteresred. Rapaport said it would appear that Gace has moved on from Fox, so he doesn't appear to be an option either. You know its getting bad out there when Lane Kiffon is a leading candidate for a OC position.
  2. Perhaps I just didn't watch enough Packers football this year. Seemed liked more often than not when I was watching I saw mistakes. He obviously would have been an upgrade here but I'd rather have Fuller.
  3. Sooo if not Gase then who? Marrone?
  4. Ya HHCD did have those 2 INTs that fell into his lap, but he also cost them the game twice by dropping a third INT and having that WTF moment on that two point conversion. Something Bama safeties that I want no part of.
  5. I'm with you on this one. Packers are in the position they are because they regularly draft well, Bears haven't. Right now the only youth on this team that we need to be thinking about is Alshon next year, Long and perhaps Bostic in 2 years, then Fuller in 3 years. In that time, unless we want to continue losing I think it would be silly to ignore free agency completely. Esp. this year when the money is there, we have a new GM/Coach (to get them some guys they want), and this FA specifically is being billed as one of the best ever. I'd be pretty bummed to see them not take advantage of it.
  6. Sadly Marshall is an ERFA so he's going nowhere. I know because I really wanted him butbthen did my homework on it. I'm game for Moore and Green.
  7. I'm certain not saying they can't run a 4-3, I'm simply basing this off the fact that there's been 4 DCs rumored about the Bears DC job that ran a 3-4, so that thought has to be going through the organizations mind.
  8. Houston, at least size wise is perfect, hopefully he can get back to the level of play that got him a good chunk a change. Ratliff, Ego, and Brown (in my mock) are all versatile enough to play both the nose and the 5. Ego, in some scouting reports last year was actually talked more aboutnas a 5 vs a NT
  9. Man I'm really off my game. I attribute it to working from a tablet and not my typical desktop. Can't really do as much digging as I typically do.
  10. Ya, I made a whoopsies thinking dead money doesn't count against the cap.
  11. Allen is the only guy that I don't think fits but he can be cut without detriment to the cap (dead money doesnt count against the cap). Houston would actually be an ideal 3-4 DE. Young has what it takes to make the conversion to OLB like so many other "Traditional DEs" have done before. Paea doesnt have to be resigned, Ratliff already has already made it to a pro bowl as a 3-4 player, Ego is stout enough to play either NT or DE, and Sutton can possibly hang on at DE as well. I think the transition is certainly possible if that's the direction they wanna go. Either scheme is probably gonna need a year (2 drafts/offseasons) to build anyway.
  12. Forgot about fanspeak, I wanna join the fun. I always like to preface my mocks with FA pickups so when I don't address a hole no one can say "We need a FS!" In FA I'm gonna bring over 2 former Broncos in Chris Harris Jr and Rahim Moore. McCourty has been at the top of my list buttt he'll be expensive, and I'm not sure he leaves New England. While we would certainly have the money, going with Moore would offer more flexibility. With a new corner and FS, and with the thought that we move to a 3-4 (based on most of the DC candidates talked about) here goes my first of many fanspeak mocks. 1R-Brandon Scherff OT Iowa- Gonna be a lot of people that dislike this move, esp. with Ray/Fowler/Collins on board, but I'm of the opinion that Young-Jones-Bostic-SMC/Washington/Bass would be a solid LB group. We have so many weapons on offense but if you can't protect the QB those weapons aren't going to be as lethal and we'd see a lot of what we saw last year.....Scherff is nasty in the run and pass game. with he and Slaus coming back that OL should look pretty damn good. 2R- Malcom Brown DT Texas- Fanspeak has him ranked a lot lower than what he's really gonna be ranked. 6'3" 320 who's strength is his strength but is also deceptively quick. Can lineup anywhere on the front 3 but with his size/strength/quickness combo I like him at DE. Front 3 becomes Houston-Ego/Ratliff-Brown/Sutton. 3R- Anthony Harris SS UVA- Perhaps the best combo of Run/Pass defense among the safeties this year. I don't think Mundy is dreadful, but I don't think he should be handed the job either. Harris comes in and competes with him. 4R- Reese Dismukes OC Auburn- Add the Outland Trophy winner in the first round, and now we add the Rimington Trophy winner in the 4th. If we plan on running the ball more Garza has to go. 6R- Garrett Grayson QB Colorado St- No chance he falls this far but I'll take what they give me. 7R- James Castleman DT OK St- I love this dude after watchin him in his bowl game. Big enough to play NT, agile enough to play DE, and maybe just maybe, we can see him as a FB as well in special packages. 3R-
  13. His D's were dreadful before San Fran so there's that, but I'm of the belief that you can learn from talent. I do like that of the 4 guys mentioned 3 run the 3-4 though
  14. Glad that's over with, now the speculation on coordinators begins. Hoping for Gase and Allen, think it'll be Shanny and Mike Smith. Fine with any combo of the 4.
  15. Jay for the most part got rid of the ball quick this year. With all the screens and dump passes they did that number should be a whole lot lower.
  16. Idk man. Slauss coming back will certainly help, but they gave up 41 sacks. The 2012 team gave up 44 and that offseason everyone was calling for a whole new line. The guy who gave up the least amount of those sacks, Roberto Garza, is the guy everyone wants gone too.
  17. And for the record I don't mean to be a "detractor", I was simply pointing out facts. Those facts werent meant to be negative or anything just throwing them out there.
  18. He's the first coach with previous NFL head coaching experience hired since Halas left.
  19. I agree that on paper he would appear to be a no brainer but its plausible that they think Quinn is the next big thing and they want to get him in the same room with Pace before making the decision. I mean they can interview Quinn again in 3 days so its not a lifetime away. Fox's resume is very similar to Love Smiths. If Love was available, and he didn't coach here to warp your opinion, would he be a no brainer as well?
  20. They're just having fun with Chicago sports fans lol Really though I wouldnt be shocked if they wanna give Quinn an interview with Pace. Fox isn't the no brainer everyone makes him out to be.
  21. Sadly it appears that Marshall is an ERFA (I never heard of it either) which means the Broncos can offer him a one year minimum deal and he has to take it. With the year he had I can't imagine they don't do that. Wouldn't hate Moore one bit. Good call. Irving I could go either way.
  22. Kinda depends on the price for me and on what the new staff thinks about Ego/Sutton. I know a guy of his size and age is gonna need rest and that's where having those guys will help, but right now we have Ratliff, Ego, Sutton, and also Houston who will spend some time inside. Might not be that wise of an investment to spend more there. Chris Harris is the guy I want from that D.
  23. Hell, he might just wanna have him over for dinner with the family.
