Just read that their BM is actually a ERFA, which apparently means the Broncos can offer him a one year minimum deal and he has to take it. So ya knock him off my wish list.
-
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he isn't a good HC, I'm just saying you guys are making it sound like he's great....IMO he's good, not great...Great, or the potential for greatness in some of these coordinators, might not be available though.
-
Also his winning percentage in Carolina was .507...Lovie (Whom I have never backed on here) had a .563.
-
I wouldn't go that far DBDB, like I said, in 10 years before getting the greatest regular season QB ever he had 3 winning seasons. For Comparison, Lovie had 4 seasons above .500, 1 super bowl trip, and one NFC title game loss in his 9 years here. He just might be the best thing out there but I wouldn't expect too much.
-
Ya, I really think he almost has to go pro. It's not immature in the slightest. Hell, I know they are rediculous but Skip and Stephen A on First Take were talking about him as a late first rounder. I think that's a bit out there but if he happens to drop to us in the 3rd I'd take him. Dude beat Wisconsin, Alabama, and Oregon 3 weeks in a row.

If word gets out that he's open to coming to the NFL, there's my top HC choice. Think he'd be the next Pete Carroll.

Honestly, right now I really don't know who I want. Rex was my #1 and then Kubiak was #1, and the rest have been meh to me. Fox to me, after looking at how his teams have ranked is hit or miss, and more often than not he's missed (to an extent). In 9 years in Carolina he had a winning record just 3 times. While we're talking about coaches without a certain player, Fox is just 81-79 without Manning as his QB. Again I will say that I'm cool with it, I'm just not gonna call it the bomb or anything. I honestly have zero clue who is tops on my list.

I can't quote tweets, but there has already been speculation on him and the Bears. That can obviously just be putting 2 and 2 together but ya. I'd be content with his hire. Not overly excited, but content.

It could be argued that in a 3-4 we COULD already be set at LB. Jones and Bostic COULD make a good duo at ILB with Bostic being the one predominantly dropped into coverage and Jones being the one in for run support. Then at OLB we have a plethora of guys who could be worth trying out in what I'm viewing as a transition year. Young would be a lock, then you have SMC who should have been playing that position his whole career, Bass and Washington who certainly have the athleticism to play there, and maybe even Allen though I'm just not so sure he's got the speed. A 3-4 DE might be a bigger need to pair with Houston.
-
That team shouldn't have been they mess they are. I was shocked at how bad they were when there really is a lot of talent on that team. If they don't start winning some games next year then I can see Lovie getting the boot.
-
Case Keenum having to start 8 games where he went 0-8 sure didn't help him. Throwing 5 pick 6s in 4 weeks also doesnt help. Also as far as his overall record goes, ya gotta realize he took over a 2-14 team.

Ya, I really think he's stout enough to handle it, and remember Ratliff played the nose under Phillips as well. Looking at Wades 2011 D that ranked 2nd, the NT on that team was Shaun Cody who was listed at 6'4" 294. As for other positions I really think we'd be in the same boat but instead of a MLB (I happen to think Bostic/Jones would be a solid ILB combo) we would be looking at an OLB....and that's if they don't wanna give SMC, Washington, Bass, or maybe even Allen( who would otherwise be cut) a shot opppsite of Young. Actually, in a transition year, it might make some sense to give one of those guys a shot vs grabbing an early rounder. But ya we would still need a corner and a safety regardless.
-
You want a 3-4 eh? How's about a Kubiak/Wade Phillips reunion? As I stated a little while ago there's also the connection to Herring who I think is still employed by the Bears.
-
Rumor right now is that Greg Roman will be his OC, not Trestman.
-
I know they kinda failed at the end of the game, but I loved what I saw from the Ravens offense yesterday, and found myself wanting Kubiak. So I of course would be cool with this.
-
I'd prefer we keep things the same while adding a tackle, preferably one capable of handling LT
-
Kinda wish Rest man woulda went there because they might have stuck with McCown thus making it possible one of the top qbs would fall. I have found myself watching a lot of Winston highlights and man, on the field, kid is a baller. Those that don't like Jay because he's not a vocal leader would love Jameis.

Am I the only one who thinks Garza isn't half bad? Windy city gridiron does sack watch every week, and the last 2 years they have credited him with 1.25 sacks. For reference sake they credited DLP with 3.5 this year.
-
Also...If Cutler is traded or cut, wouldn't mind seeing what Ryan Mallet can bring to the table. He was stuck behind Brady for a few years then got hurt in Houston when he finally got a chance. We aren't getting Winston or Mariotta, and Hundley isn't really worth the #7 pick but might also be gone in the 2nd. I don't think any other qb is that good so let whoever come in and compete with Mallet.

I happen to think Mel Tucker has been that bad. There were reports that often times the LBs and secondary wasn't on the same page. Get those guys on the same page and the D already looks better. I happen to think that Bostic, along with Jones and a free agent/early round middle linebacker can be a solid LB group. Mundy, if utilized correctly as a box strong safety can be passable, but a mid round pick can be brought in to compete. Paea probably gets resigned, Ratliff showed signs of still having gas in the tank, and the rookies looked promising. DE has Young, and Allen started to look better after getting over his sickness. I know he looked bad but I still think Houston has potential of being an above average DE. Washington also showed flashes of being more than just a freak athlete. Corner is certainly a need. I don't think Jennings will get cut, and I think he can hang as a slot corner. It's probably all homer talk but gimme a new defensive coordinator, a new middle linebacker, a new free safety, and a new corner, and I think the D will be MUCH improved.
-
Just to throw this out there, this FA class is being billed as the best ever. Obviously a lot of the guys will get resigned but there's still gonna be a ton of talent left to grab, and I think it would be a mistake not to grab at least one big name, esp. guys on the list that Adam just posted.
-
Depends on the line scheme, we all know Kromer emphasized guard play, and Longs athleticism to get out to the next level was huge from the guard position. Obviously Garza doesn't have that kind of athleticism so he wouldn't fit in the role that Long played.
-
I happen to disagree, but with the way Pace was talking it does appear that we'll tear it down. It's probably just the homer in me, but I think if you fix the middle of the defense (MLB and FS) and add another corner, the D wouldn't be THAT bad. I also think that getting Slaus back and hopefully adding another tackle will allow the offense to open back up. Adding a speed element to open up the middle of the field more would also be helpful. Couple the addition of a MLB/FS/CB/OT with some competent coaching and I think this team could be relevant.
-
Bears do have a good deal of cap space, and I do think there's a need for a WR that can get down the field quick buttt I can't see them spending any money on one. Maybe if they trade BM, but even then I highly doubt it. Gimme a free safety and a middle linebacker. McCourty and Brandon Marshall (the LB) would be my guys.

Wonder if that's why we haven't interviewed him? Perhaps he turned us down because he knows Trestman couldn't/wouldn't be his OC.
