    Draft LT?

I'm all for drafting a LT in the first, and also a center in the 3rd or 4th. I wanna see guys like KJ Wright and Louis Delmas brought in in FA to help the D and allowing the Bears to do address the OL in the draft.
  2. Has he said that or something? Even his 1 year as OC in Nola the team ranked 29th in rushing attempts. Bears are 28th this year and were 24th last year.
  3. Ya know what I found to be a little interesting is this... By the decades.. 50's: 2 playoff appearances, including one Championship game loss. 60's: 1 playoff appearance, one Championship. 70's: 2 playoff appearances, 2 quick losses 80's: 5 playoff appearances, 2 early exits, 2 conf championship losses and one SB. 90's: 3 playoff appearances, one early exit, two first round wins 00's: 3 playoff appearances, 2 early losses, one SB appearance and loss 10's: 1 playoff appearance, 1 conference champ loss. I'm a whipper snapper compared to a lot of you here. The way some of you guys talk I would have expected to see much more success. Looks to me, sans the 80's this franchise is not as great as I was lead to believe.
  4. While I do agree that it's time for Trestman too go, I just wanted to nitpick here. Bears scored 32 TDs on offense in 2012...So far, with 4 games to go they've scored 30. That 2012 team had 9 defensive TDs, so far this year they've had 1.
  5. I know I'm gonna be in the minority but I still think Jay can do well behind a good OL. Thursday we get to see that Cowboys OL and man, I'd kill to have that line in front of Jay and Forte. Watching last weeks game dude was getting 8 seconds to throw on multiple occasions. I wonder if that has happened even once for Jay. In my ideal world we sign KJ Wright(LB) and Louis Delmas(FS) in FA, draft a CB in the first round, then draft a Tackle and Center with the next 2 picks.
  6. I can't imagine Cutler isn't the starter next year. Ride it out, let him build some confidence in Wilson, and build on next year. If the offense continues to sputter next year then its plausible they take that 3M hit in 2016 to get out of that contract.
  7. I didn't notice, who lined up at WILL yesterday? All I can see online is Bostic and Jones played the most snaps.
  8. These days it seems like the talent at the college level is getting better and better so I wouldnt say 4 first rounders. They just have to hit on those guys.
  9. You asked about the salary next year....IF speculation is true and the cap does go up to 145M then the Bears would haveabout 37M in cap space (not including money needed for rookies, which is gonna be 5M tops). Still a lot of money to work with. Over the cap says we have the 8th most. There's a lot of bad teams ahead of us along with the Seahawks and Colts who will need to resign Wilson(SEA), Lynch(SEA), Luck(IND), Hilton(IND) pretty soon and might not spend big. Devin McCourty Chris Harris Brandon Flowers KJ Wright Louis Delmas Would all be interesting signings.
  10. I liked being able to watch it on the DVR because I could fast forward and not dwell on the bad or get too over excited with the good...Plus sadly a family member ruined the outcome for me despite me telling everyone not to, so the whole game I was set on looking at why we lost the game. First and foremost the offensive playing calling continued to look scared for the most part. That's exactly the word that needs to be said when labeling the offense. Announcer said at one point that it looks like the Bears were looking to set the record for swing passes. I get it to an extent but one thing that I really don't understand why they didn't continue to do after the Minny game was have Jay roll out of the pocket more. There was one point where they brought in Leno to be an extra blocker and they rolled Jay out to his side and he a ton of time....Why haven't we seen that more often? Last year we seen Britton out there what seemed like at least once a drive. This year when the OL has struggled we barely see it at all. Dump passes might work for a few drives, like they did today, but soon the defense will pinch in and limit those plays. That's when you need to take advantage of the deeper stuff....but that's when then OL struggles. I've been the biggest Jay supporter here but I'm starting to think that he fits right in with that playing scared label I put on the offense. Oh, and the D got schooled after the 1st quarter. Fuller ain't no Peanut yet.
  11. He hasn't been great, but not awful either, so this is a bit of a hit on a line that can't really afford another hit.
  12. Landon Collins is gonna get a lot of mentions around these parts, but give me Holliman. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000042...a-young-ed-reed I agree with Adam, give me a S, CB, OT in the first 3 rounds. Depending on how Louis-Jean and C. Jones play down the stretch we could see CB become less of a need and LB become more of a need.
  13. That's where hopefully the drafting of guys like Marquess Wilson and Ka'Deem Carey come in to play.
  14. So which OC would you have liked to see them keep? I thought for all these years we were blaming Lovie for his inability to bringing in a good OC? Where's Mike Martz now? Mike Tice still an OC? Ron Turner is currently 5-19 in 2 years at FIU.
  15. In my opinion either Jay or Trestman isn't trusting the OL which has lead to the short quick plays.
  16. INT%- Jay 3.0 vs Josh 4.4. Only Blake Bortles has a worse %.
  17. That's pretty much exactly what I said.
  18. I agree with pretty much every point here except I'd like to add the caveat that the OL didn't play well in the first half. The 2nd half they really started to come around. I still hate the short little dumps but I'm not sure things will really open up until the OL shows it will give Jay and the WRs the time to get down field. Certainly agree with you on Bushrod needing to move to RT and we add a real LT. Call me crazy, with all the defensive needs, I wouldn't hate to see one taken in the 1st round. I'm loving me some Stephen Paea. An article came out last year from some writer that talked about Paea being able to play the 3T and a lot of people laughed at that notion. I'd gladly welcome him back next year.
  19. 4 turnovers by the D today...3 the last 5 games
  20. "He wouldn't be the type of quarterback he is without the intangibles," Polian, now an ESPN analyst, told "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN Chicago 1000 Wednesday. "Just stop and think about this: What was he surrounded with at Vanderbilt? I saw him as a sophomore ... in the Swamp take Florida to the wire and come back about three or four times in that game. It took a miraculous play by the Gators, who were then in the top 10 in the country, to win the game. "This is a guy who's done a lot with a little throughout his career. And his receiver corps -- it's no secret -- his receiving corps in Chicago has not been stellar during his time there. I don't know why people would question the intangibles. He's done a lot with a little throughout his career." "I see an incredibly talented guy. He's got a great arm, he's got a great delivery, he's got good knowledge of what defenses are doing to him," Polian said. "He's got really good timing; he can deliver the ball on time. He can make every throw. He can get it into tight windows which is extremely rare in quarterback talent. He's got some escapability. He can buy a second chance. He's not RGIII by any stretch of the imagination but he can buy a second chance. He's courageous; he'll take the hit in order to get a first down. "I think if he's surrounded with better receiving and protection talent he'll shine. He's a very, very talented quarterback." Signed, Bill Polian (last year)
  21. Vikings only lost by a field goal against the Pack today FWIW
  22. 7 TDs for McCown....8 INTs. He sure can hit an open WR though.
  23. It all starts up front on both sides of the ball.
