I've been on the Brooks bandwagon as well. It was real tough for me to pass on him in the community mock draft. Unless someone seriously drops to us at 51 (See Hageman in the community mock) Brooks would be my pick no questions asked.

I'll respond to that post with this post.... That was your response to MadLith asking about Borland. I do like Jones, but I'd rather wait a bit if they draft a LB at all. But I'm saying all this as a Bostic fan. I think in front of a better DL he'll be better than any LB not named CJ Mosely in the draft.
-
I think it's next to impossible to really tell. Every team gets 10 min, so it could be 2 hours and 20 min from the start, or it could be half that, or even a quarter of that time. I'd sat DVR it if you have one....turn off the radio/TV, go home and watch it, then come on here.
-
After resigning Fiametta I kinda doubt they draft one. Millard though could be a different story since like you said he's more of that hybrid guy..... If they want that move/hybrid TE a name that gets mentioned a lot here is Colt Lyerla. Draws comps to Gronk as a TE, former RB, and I'd have to imagine he can block a little bit. He's a douche, but in the 5/6 round, I think he's worth taking a shot on.
-
It's also quite possible that Trestman prefers to work with the older veteran, McCown/Palmer type guys. Last year we thought we needed a QB but they stuck with NcCown, this year it looks like we may be looking at the same scenario with Palmer.
-
Hasn't been a problem for me, nut I've been meaning to make a new one anyway. I'll throw somethin together tomorrow and switch it up.
-
Could be smoke, but I think he's genuine when saying that. Didn't Palmer look real good in the presaason(FWIW)? He also brought up Jerrod Johnson's name in the presser the other day...Don't sleep on him as that developmental prospect everyone wants.
-
Quarles is 6'4" and he has some pretty long arms, I think he's certainly capable of playing NT. Esp. in a 1 gap system. I'd certainly be happy with Ellis though. Also liking Zach Kerr. Or if they really want a big, BIG, boy McCullers who would be really interesting.
-
Wouldn't hate that one bit....From what it sounds like we won't be drafting a QB though. Then again Emery said you only find quality guys in the first few rounds, and McCaron in the 4th would be a guy who very could well have a first few round grade.

Stinger got me on this site, and I now also follow Dan Shonka on twitter. He's the former NFL scout who runs the site. He posted a mock earlier and well, I don't really know what to think..... 14 Stephon Tuitt DT Notre Dame 51 Jeremy Hill RB LSU 82 Phillip Gaines CB Rice 117 Stanley Jean-Baptiste CB Nebraska 156 Caraun Reid DT Princeton 183 Kadeem EdwardsOG Tennessee State 191 James Gayle DE Virginia Tech If the thought behind the SJB pick is to play him at FS then I'm a little intrigued, if not then I'm not a fan. 2R RB is very meh to me as well. I'm a Mundy "fan" but I think something really intriguing would be replacing Hill with Bucannon and going SJB/D1B at FS/SS (Ya, that's right I have Deone Bucannon a nickname). Then replace Edwards with a RB, and Gayle with a TE and that could be a very intriguing draft. Preferably Tyler Gaffney and Colt Lyerla

With the 1st pick of the 3rd round the Houston Texans select....DaQuan Jones DT Penn State. Rotoworld has the Texans needs as. QB- Check- Bortles OLB- Check- Shazier And now I check their last biggest need(Nose Tackle) off the list, a big NT in DaQuan Jones. Whoever is up after me is on the clock.
-
Lance Briggs is not going to be hurt to start the year. There's just no reason to believe that right now.
-
FWIW Emery said he loves having the extra time. QB is the only position I'd absolutely hate to see the Bears take in the 1R. I Always try to reason with whatever decision coaching and management makes, but I will go off and have a nice long rant about that decision were it to happen.
-
Agreed, I was just about to post those same 6 guys over in the "Emery 6" thread. I'd give Jernigan the slight upper hand over Hageman just because Hageman wasn't that impressive at the Senior Bowl. But then again Jernigan wasn't even there(he's a Junior). I'll make a bold WTF moment and say it happens in the 3rd......Donalds gonna be gone, we go FS/CB in the first 2 rounds, then with the 3rd pick they take....wait for it.... Caraun Reid DT outta Princeton..... After Donald I thought he was the 2nd most impressive DT at the Senior Bowl and I wouldn't be shocked to see Phil take him over guys like the LSU DTs and Sutton.
-
Same here. But if Phil sees otherwise, which I'm not saying isn't possible, Borland would be down on my list as well. I think he's a 3-4 ILB meaning I don't think he'd hold up in coverage as a 4-3 ILB. We saw last year with the signings of DJ, Anderson, and the drafting of Bostic and Greene that Phil likes speed at LB....Borland doesn't bring that.
-
I can see that as well, I think this years draft, at the slot we're at there is more sure fire talent there than the last 2 years. Also as Ashkum said, he seems to fill needs over BPA. Last year a guy like Sherrif Floyd would have been BPA but Emery didn't see that as a need(Perhaps foolishly). This year our needs seem to coincide with the players that will be there around 14. If one of Donald/HHCD/Pryor is there in the first I'd be a little shocked if they aren't the pick....
-
I apologize for the wait.....With the 58th pick of the 2014 NFL draft the Saints select.....Phillip Gaines CB Rice. According to rotoworld the Saints top needs are CB/OLB/OC, I already got them Dee Ford in the 1st, so I go CB here and take Gaines. I really love Gaines size/speed combo at 6' with 4.3 speed. He's a guy who in real life I think lasts till the 3rd round and a guy I'd love for the Bears to grab. Going off this big board though he's the top CB available making him my pick. The Colts (stinger) are on the clock.
-
Good god, I actually read what he did instead of just looking at the picks and I hate it even more. He gave up 2 3rd rounders(one next year), a 4th, and a 5th to get Kyle Fuller and Deone Bucannon. Both are good players, with good potential, but that's an awful lot to bank on 2 rookies.
-
Don't sleep on Ed Reynolds and Brock Vereen....I disagree with them but Sports Illustrated actually has Vereen ranked ahead of Bucannon on their Safety rankings. I'd also be somewhat surprised if Bucannon wan't there in the real draft. Like the draft you just posted a little bit ago that you loved/hated they waited till the 3rd to draft a FS in Bucannon. I have "zero regrets" "taking" Donald in the first. In hindsight would I have been better off taking HHCD/Pryor in the first? Sure. But If you woulda told me the 65th ranked Deone Bucannon would be gone while the 32nd ranked Hageman would still be sitting there, I woulda said you're crazy.
-
I wouldn't say they're thin at all, but ya I clearly think Donald is the best fit for this team in the draft so there's been no need for me to predict otherwise.
-
I really think there's still some solid guys left that should be there in the 3rd who will come in, compete, and beat Conte and all the other guys they have at FS. Brock Vereen is a guy I'm really starting to like. Good size, great strength, top shelf speed at the position, good in coverage(Has played CB), high character, leadership traits, good work ethic, and he has the family bloodlines(Pops was drafted and his bro is Shane Vereen). Ed Reynolds has long been one of my favorites to draft in my mocks this offseason. Sans the speed and CB background I can say the same thing I did about Reynolds as I did about Vereen. His father played 9 years in the league. Then there's Jaylen Watkins and Antone Exum who are widely listed as CBs but actually played FS last year and I think would be solid players at FS. It is indeed hindsight though. I think there's a rather sizable drop off after Tuitt/Hageman, neither of which I'm sure would actually be there in real life.
-
Without knowing what else was on the board it's hard to tell whether I like it or not...I guess I could live with it
-
Yuck, CB is so damn deep that if they trade up for 1 I'll be pissed. Only way I'm trading up is if HHCD/Pryor are there around 30.
-
I was thinking Dominique Easley next round! Sort of a bazooka theory ...Stinger, you're up to bat with the Cards.
