  1. They could really throw A TON of different looks at defenses with Houston and Hageman both being capable of playing anywhere on the DL. It'd be real tough for OLs to deal with.
  2. Baptiste, Roberson, and Gaines(I really like him, but am a little surprised by how high he's ranked on the big board) were all considered as well as Brooks of course. I just couldn't pass on the the value Hageman brings at 51, that's a steal. Mayock has Donald and Hageman ranked 1/2 in a fairly good draft for DTs, grabbing both would be huge!
  3. If ya read it all I went with Hageman. Just opened it up for discussion on what others would have done.
  4. Time to double dip... With the 50th pick of the 2014 draft the Dolphins select..... Cameron Fleming OT Stanford Adam took my James pick so I had to "reach" a bit to take Fleming. After last year the Dolphins absolutely must draft a starter for that OL, and Fleming might be the last "lock" starter pick. With the 51st pick of the 2014 draft your Chicago Bears are...... In a tough position.... I'm really starting to like Brook Vereen(and others) later in the draft to compete with Conte, he's been a sleeper no one has really talked about, I think he could be just as good as Brooks who would be the obvious pick here.......Hageman being there is making this a little difficult on me, we've talked about going DT/DT before on this board and Hageman fits the bill of that discussion. Do I go Brooks even though I like others later, or go BPA and set the DL up to be hella nasty??? Or do I go Phillip Gaines who I drafted just yesterday in a draft in the other thread albeit later on. Some aren't gonna like it but the Bears select....RaShede Hageman in a "ballsy" move. Hageman has the ability to lineup at any position on the DL. He's quick and powerful enough to play the 3T, long and agile enough to lineup at DE, and with those long arms and big body he's more than capable of playing the nose, esp in a 1 gap system. Allen-Hageman-Donald-Houston should absolutely ball out and garner enough attention that OLs won't be able to get a big body out to the 2nd level to put a body on a LB. What would you guys have done....Hageman? Brooks? Gaines? Roberson? Other? ......Hindsight I might have been better off going HHCD/Hageman, but again that's hindsight. Had no idea a guy like Hageman would actually still be there at 51.
  5. Someone made a similar post about FSU early on this offseason and honestly it wouldn't be the worst thing ever. I'd just like a bigger corner than Joyner(I like him as a FS) other than that it'd probably work.
  6. From all reports he's caught balls in practice so he should have capable hands. Maybe finding some comfort here in Chicago instead of bouncing all around like his been his first few years will help him out. The article said he was down in FLA with the boys so maybe that will help too. Dude needs to live in front of the juggs machine. It'd be a shame to see such physical talent go to waste. I'm not counting on it, but I'm rooting for it.
  7. I guess it depends on what was there and what Trestman wants to do with the offense. It's possible he wants to go heavy on the 2 TE package ala the Pats so it would be a really intriguing pick. In his draft I see he got Hageman with his 2nd pick, but I probably would have grabbed him with the first(I know in hingsight he did get him anyway but you know what I mean). Fanspeak mock are fun but it's hard to really critique because we don't know what else was on the board at the time. Not my official mock, but using those picks, and the WF mock I'd go with.... 39- Stephon Tuitt DT ND- Should be able to help in both the run and pass game 51- Jimmie Ward FS NIU- Should be a solid FS with his coverage skills. 54- Keith Mcgil CB Utah - Solid CB with good size. Could play outside with Jennings playing nickle in said package. Takes over for Tillman next year 70- Austin Serafian-Jenkins TE Wash- I have to admit I love the idea of 2 TE sets. Some might say ASF is the most complete TE in the draft Blocking/receiving. 82- Daquan Jones DT Penn St.- They set a big DT combo of Jones/Tuitt for years to come. Both are good run defenders who can also push the pocket. 86- Logan Thomas QB UVA- Footwork is his main issue and I think that's something Trestman can fix. 117- Phillip Gaines CB Rice- Bears take advantage of the depth at CB to set them up for the future. Blazing 4.3 speed with good size at 6'. 144- Jeff Janis WR SVS- Really liked him at the senior bowl and he fits the mold of Marshall/Jeffery/Wilson. 154- Max Bullough ILB Mich St- I'll give the masses their slow white MLB they want. If Bostic/Williams fail or get pushed to diff positions he can fill in at MLB 180- Michael Schofield OT/OG Michigan- Another guy I liked at the Senier Bowl, looked good at both OT and OG 184- Tyler Gafney RB Stanford- Most underrated RB in the draft IMO. A bruiser, but still runs a 4.49 which for a back like him is ample speed.
  8. With the 45th pick of the 2014 draft the Detroit Lions select....Lamarcus Joyner CB/S Florida State. I know he's listed as a CB, and you're thinkin 2 CBs in the first 2 rounds??? Nawww they need a FS to pair with SS Ihedigbo. I think Joyner is more than capable to play a solid CF. Pittsburgh (MadLith) are now on the clock.....
  9. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...ml#.U1-msq1dXgI Hopefully it turns out to be more than fluff and the lights finally turn on for Fendi. If he turns into this years Julius Thomas look out NFL, this offense could be unstoppable.
  10. C'mon Bears! No one wants to hear rape stories from Big Ben and the Giants just seem like a boring ass team.
  11. *sarcasm* Psh, Mean Joe Greene would get ate up in todays NFL....Gimme Warren Sapp But ya Deacon Jones makes no sense unless the people who made this think Houston is a DT.
  12. Meh, I liked the potential there but if they cut em so be it. I was actually a little surprised by the signing anyway. Thought we were fine with Marshall/Jeffery/Wilson/Hixon and then a battle between Weems, Williams, Tolliver(who I'm still fairly intrigued by), Bellamy, and a UDFA or 2. I suppose if they wanna take advantage of the depth in the draft(which I think will extend into UDFA) I wouldn't hate to see them take a guy like Jeff Janis, who I really liked at the Senior Bowl, in the 6th.
  13. Ya I probably would have gone Hageman or Cyrus here, both are better valve...I mean value....picks here and both address a need.
  14. Lets get things started with the 2nd round. With the first pick of the 2nd round the Houston Texans select.... Ryan Shazier OLB Ohio State Rotoworld has the Texans draft needs as QB/OLB/NT, and already got a QB in the 1R. Shazier is a little undersized, and that made me consider going with Demarcus Lawrence(who some here might view as a reach but I've seen him go as high as 20), but I just couldn't pass on a guy with his talent. I had the same predicament with Shazier vs Ford for the NOLA pick, but those 2 were more closely rated. With his freakish 4.38 speed(highest of any OLB) and his above average rep total of 25(6th most), I think he's got room to put on some weight without sacrificing too much speed or power and will make for a scary pass rusher.
  15. I don't disagree but I'm comparing the difference in talent levels... There's less of a drop off between Bostic vs Mosely than there is between Gilbert/Denard vs Frey. The bigger upgrade is at CB, and last year the #3 CB played 50% of the snaps(Remember Bowman came in when Tillman went down, not Frey). Plus Mosely's injury history scares me. It's your pick in the draft BTW.
  16. I think the difference between LB and CB is Mosely vs Bostic and Gilbert vs Frey... I have 3 guys ahead of Gilbert/Denard because I'd really like to wait, but if those 3 guys are gone then I'd have to consider taking one of those uber CBs. If somehow all 5 are gone then maybe I'd consider Mosely. Briggs will be fine, you're really overstating the whole injury thing. The article that got you talking came out like a month ago and he was already working out with heavy weights. The season is months away, there's no reason to think he'll miss any time. I believe you've said it before yourself you can't pick based on potential injuries. I will say that I don't absolutely hate the idea now, but I still love the potential of Bostic and Greene.
  17. Still don't think we should sleep on Khaseem Greene as a quality backup, I have higher hopes for him than I do SMC, and I think SMC will be serviceable. IMO we're 5 deep at LB, which should be enough. I've grown ok with Mosely (I swear I heard earlier on that he was bad in coverage but I've been reading otherwise now) but I'm only taking him if Donald/HHCD/Pryor/Gilbert/Denard are all gone and even then I'd like to trade down for Hageman/Tuitt.
  18. With the 27th pick of the 2014 NFL draft the Saints select.... Dee Ford OLB Auburn. I read that the Saints needs are at WR/CB/OLB....Considered Verrett but I love the depth at CB so I'll wait and grab a guy who I think will be a stud if used correctly as a 3-4 OLB. The Panthers(Adam) are on the clock
  19. Oops, I misread the word "for" for "or"....Ya I might consider that. BTW I like Donald more than Clowney.
  20. I love Aaron Donald just as much as anyone and I don't think I'd do it. At least not in this draft that is stockpiled with talent.
  21. When there's an obvious flaw, like the why didn't we switch him last year then flaw, I don't really buy into sources.
  22. Since I'm the Bears GM in the community mock draft I can't reveal my picks I'm not so sure I'm comfortable with Palmer as the backup so I'd probably replace Aikens with a QB. Shayne Skov and his 4.95 40 does absolutely nothing for me. I think he's a 3-4 MLB and nothing more. I wonder if DAT was just brought in to see if he can pass block...Otherwise that kinda goes away from the whole "We'd like our #2 RB to be able to pass protect" statement.
  23. With the 19th pick of the 2014 NFL draft the Miami Dolphins select....CJ Mosely LB Alabama With the top 4 OTs off the board I thought Cyrus K was a bit of a reach. I think OT is their biggest need but not sure they could pass on another need in MLB to reach for Cyrus. The Arizona Cardinals(Stinger) are on the clock...
  24. Do I really even to tell you guys who I'm taking??? With the 14th pick of the 2014 NFL The Chicago Bears select...Aaron Donald DT Pittsburgh. Last year we didn't pull any punches on fixing the OL and this year we do the same by drafting the most disruptive player in the draft. With MadLith already drafting, the Dallas Cowboys(Stinger) are now on the clock.
