Bears4Ever_34
I caught the tail end of it on the radio. Did anybody else hear this?
jason
If he said that, and it's true, it's a very misleading way of painting a picture. Based on the 2013 64-man rosters posted on pro football reference, the NFC North supports that stat. Team-UDFA Bears-17 Packers-25 Lions-15 Vikings-14 So, yeah, 256 roster spots, 71 UDFAs, that's 28%. How many of those guys are starters? <_> Bears-1 Packers-4 Lions-2 Vikings-2 This sounds like GM-speak for "yeah, that pick was a miss, but almost half the league's rosters (not starters) are UDFAs!" Bears4Ever_34
Apparently one of the Bears beat writers just tweeted at the show and said Emery was referring to the original 90 man rosters before the season that are made up of 40% undrafted Free Agents, so that would change the number quite a bit as you just brought up. Didn't sound right when I heard it but now it makes sense as to what he was referring to.
