DABEARSDABOMB
This is from Biggs trib article, 10 thoughts, which is usually one of my favorite reads. I really like Herring and I said all off-season that our LB corps were total stinkers and was a huge position of need. I'd say it is the weakest position on the entire roster. Herring would seem to agree. I bolded one part for added emphasis. On Friday, I asked Herring an innocuous question. I wanted to know if Sharpton had done enough in the previous two weeks to challenge for a starting position? It touched a nerve for Herring. “The bottom line is we’re going to utilize him to help this football team,” Herring replied. “Right now he’s starting in nickel and D.J. (Williams) is starting in base. Neither of them are any good if they have to handle every snap. I’ll leave it at that. Just let me handle my job and then we’ll deal with it as goes. As far as starting, he is starting. He’s starting in nickel and D.J. is starting in base. It’s the same way we played (Jon) Bostic at nickel mike and started him. The bottom line is I don’t see … all of those guys have a purpose to help the football team. I’m just trying to cut to the cheese with you. At the end of the day, whether you are a starter in nickel or base is irrelevant or whether you are first- or second-team is irrelevant because we have played so many musical chairs right now that the frustration has set in. That is why I am not being short with you. I am just being direct.”

scs787
In the other thread I talked about keeping Herring around as well. Wouldn't mind him as the next DC, almost preferably under Wade Phillips again like I said in the other thread.
