For the 1st time ever I'm actually agreeing with cracker. WWaitdid I actually just say that. I must be on drugs. We are acting like Cutler is this horrible qb. Personally I don't know what I would do. The cap hit Nxt yr for him is manageable. And after Nxt yr he can actually be cut without destroying our cap situation. The problem I see is if you move on from Jay then you need a plan and I don't see that guy out there to go and get

Yep. Hell, we all thought Trestman could get any QB to the next level and he didn't. No matter who you hire you've got to get a QB up to speed quickly. So Jay isn't my #1 concern. You've also got to repair a horrible D and a shitty ST. And you've got to find leaders on this team and build them up. And you've got to restore confidence of the fans and media. This job is going to be TOUGH.

That's why I'm thinking Harbaugh. Not that I like him, I actually think he's a tool. But the Bears will be able to "sell" him quite easily to the fans and media. And his track record is good despite an off year this season.

I just don't know if Jim will want to come here over say Oakland or Michigan, etc.

how to put this nicely. Hmm. freak THE MEDIA. freak THE FANS. I want them to do what they see as best football decision regardless of what the fans and media May think

Now this agree with 100%. Having real dollars not going to Cutler who certainly hasn't earned his $$$ so far is something that immediately benefits the team. I'm just not sure where the $12 million is coming from. I guess if someone else pays him the guaranteed money it drops off our cap. That must be it.

As to us being "freaking serious" I most certainly am. If you bring in a coach, whether it be Harbaugh or someone else, in this league they damn well better be able to assess a QB, make a decision and then get the MOST out of him. If you don't believe in your new HC candidate that much, you probably ought not hire them. I'm not saying keep Cutler, I'm saying that decision belongs to the next Head Coach.

I absolutely agree 1000% with what you are saying. I think it is hard for that coach to make that decision purely based on film and without having worked with the QB, though. I think the only real decision a coach could make is say look, I like his tools but he needs to work on x,y, and z. I can talk to him up front and get a gauge but until we go through an off-season and a season together, I won't know for certain. After this year I will know and in the meantime I don't buy into any of the QB's in this draft anyway blah blah blah.

I think most candidates already know how they feel about Jay. Just my guess. And I doubt many want to keep him.
