DC Candidate: Perry Fewell

Featured Replies

I think someone else had posted this on the board, but thought it might deserve its own thread. We have talked about Frazier and Wade Phillips and I think a lot of this comes down to whether we switch to 3-4 (vs. staying at 4-3) but if we were to stay with a 4-3 defense, we have two excellent candidates to choose from between Frazier and Fewell.

Before someone says the Giants D stunk this year, consider the below and the overall impacts to injuries as well as Fewell's overall track record for having strong defenses:

The Giants' defense ranked eighth in the NFL in total yardage in 2013 but took a major step back in 2014 amid season-ending injuries to three of its top four cornerbacks, middle linebacker Jon Beason and defensive ends Mathias Kiwanuka and Robert Ayers.

I'd really like to see the Bears move away from the cover 2, but Fewell was a HC candidate for a while. If they go with his style of defense, he's definitely a guy I would like to see out there.

I like the thought of Fewell as DC because he plays the attacking style of defense in the 4-3 that we need in the NFC North. When he broke ranks with Lovie I knew he was his own man. He went to be Les Mile DC at Okla ST then got the Giants job.

So would my dog.

Hilarious. I was thinking of posting something very similar. Pretty much any feasible candidate is an upgrade over Tucker.
