Bears4Ever_34
This guy is one of the most disliked coaches in sports. Hard to imagine him having another job in the NFL as an OC. He never lasts more than a year. Only person that kept him under control was Belichick.

In terms of stature in the league Fox I believe has enough clout to control Weis or whoever is his OC.I also believe Weis is desperate and arrogant enough to tell Fox he can fix Cutler. Under Belichick he was a decent play caller even though the player executing his plays is HOF caliber. IIRC he had one years as a OC in KC with some success after his ND debacle and before he wen to Florida to be OC for the Gators before going to Kansas and stinking up the state. DABEARSDABOMB
Weiss is a very brilliant offensive mind. His collegiate career hasn't went well but he has been nothing but successful at the pro level. He took a pretty bad team in KC in his one year as OC and they ended up having the top rushing attack and ranked around 10 in points, etc.
adam
I wouldn't mind Weis, he somehow got Cassel to play good and the Pats have never won a SB after he left (won 3 with him as OC).
Chitownhustla
Weis has proved to be a great OC. HC not sooo much.... If fox and Pace feel he is the best OC out of the litter then I'm good with it!!

Boston Boxer
not sure we have the personnel to run his offense. We would need to add a quick WR, another TE and Cutler would need to be willing to learn. What it would do is make the OLine better since it is a quick pass offense which requires the line to not have to block as long. If Fox thinks he would be good, i am on board. My worry would be Cutler

My worry would be Cutler We definitely need a quick WR. We have absolutely nothing after AJ and BM and nobody to stretch the field. Under Trestman, our o-line was already designed to get rid of the ball quickly. I'm loving the idea of a "run first" approach. Run to set up the pass. As opposed to passing to set up the interception.

Unfortunately, our OL is not up to snuff and Forte isn't the type of back to make up for that lack of talent anymore.

Unfortunately, our OL is not up to snuff and Forte isn't the type of back to make up for that lack of talent anymore. This is an extremely strong RB draft. You are talking about 2nd round talent in the 4th round at the RB position. I would be surprised if, with this new emphasis on the running game, we didn't at least consider picking up another back (albeit I liked what I saw out of our backup in his rookie year but it isn't like he got a ton of play). BearFan2000
just threw up a little in my mouth.... My gut reaction is I don't want that fat, arrogant, arse hat anywhere near my Bears. I know he's had success in different places as an OC in the NFL but if Fox can keep him under control and mostly out of sight/media, maybe I could stomach him. He'd be on the bottom of my list cause I don't like him as a person. I know it's more than just about personality, but not sure if his character is the type that would be good for the locker room considering one of Fox's tasks will be to restore order and sanity to the locker room. DABEARSDABOMB
Dan Pompei @danpompei Some plugged in people believe Charlie Weis has better shot at Bears OC job than Adam Gase. Critical hire; Fox is moving carefully.
'TD'
He fits the type of staff that Fox is trying to put together. His philosophy is similar to what Fox was initially wanting with Mike Mularkey. He is older and experienced like Fangio. I wouldn't be completely against his hire. When I was driving home at 5:00 today, Hub Arkush and Dan Pompeii reported they both heard that Weis was going to be hired. The Boers and Bernstein show reported a rumor that Weis is a friend of the McCaskey's and they put this rumor out their as a favor to get his name out there. On hind-sight, I'm thinking the Gase deal was done well before it was reported.
