DABEARSDABOMB
- Gave no commitment about Cutler (just said he's talked to him, along with a lot of other players - Confirmed interest in McCown - Confirmed they will primarily run a 3-4 defense. DABEARSDABOMB
@danwiederer: Fox on Marshall: "Regardless of who it is, their focus and energy has to remain on what's going to help us win a championship." He also was asked a question about Marshall and showtime and it would appear that if Marshall sticks around, he will not be allowed to do the show. DABEARSDABOMB
Some more tidbits: - Says they are only 10 days into looking at the roster and there is not time frame nor rush to evaluate all the players. - Both Willie Young and Jared Allen project at OLB. And the link to the actual press conference, for anyone that wants to see it. http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/vid...01-0ca02399e72e
'TD'
He doesn't give away much, but I like to see him talk. There definitely seemed to be an interest in bringing Tillman and Briggs back.

DABEARSDABOMB
http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/...back-jay-cutler Good article summing up the QB situation from Fox's comments. Can't argue with a thing he said. Very articulate.

dawhizz
He also talked about Jeremiah Ratliff as someone he could build around in the 3-4. Worth noting since he is generally seen as a NT, which is the same position you would project Danny Shelton to, a player a lot of people are mocking to the Bears at #7. However, Ratliff isn't nearly as big as Shelton, so maybe you could have a front of Ratliff-Shelton-Sutton, rotating in Houston and Ferguson (or something). As expected, he said in the 3-4 they would see Young and Allen as LBs, which suggests to me we've seen the end of Allen in Chicago.
scs787
regarding BM on Showtime, I think that's the response we were all hoping for. We all might have hoped for it, but I'm not so sure thats the response B was hoping for. I know he asked Harbaugh if he would allow him to stay on the show if he played for him, so it seems clear that he wants to continue doing it. He still showed last year that he can get after the QB and playing him inside would kinda lessen that part of his game. To me the only question now is do they view Ego as a starter? If so where at? Do they think he can play NT? Do they still view Rat at the Nose making Ego a 5?
'TD'
Zaidman stated on the score, that neither of them will be back. As per Pace He may be right, but he was going off his perception instead of facts and I don't trust Zaidman's perception. Both Pace and Fox referred to their history as Bears and such. Zaidman takes it as trying to address their situation better than what happened with the Bears and Urlacher. I didn't come away with that. It felt more of a positive, and a willingness to consider bringing them back.
Chitownhustla
Love that they are going to the 3-4. Something new!! SMC can go back to his college position, so if he performs like a 1st round 3-4 OLB we may have just gained a decent 1st round pick. Just trying to see the positives right now. Projecting Willie and Jared as OLB= they both can play the position with their hands in the dirt. Rushing the passer from the outside is the same as a DE or OLB. Very noncommittal on Cutler= I like this. Fox and Pace are a unified front on this topic saying the same things. Maybe they are trying to see if there will be a trade partner for him. Other teams are now thinking they may be able to get him. Some guys have commented here that there would be a trade partner out there, we should find out. BM= they want to make sure that Chicago and winning is the most important thing to him. BM just prove it and you and will be back!! What do you guys think for OLB Jared and Willie on one side and SMC and Jones on the other????

DABEARSDABOMB
Adding in some comments from Pace's portion. A lot of it was more of the same on Cutler but he talked a bit about Marshall, etc. A lot of this goes to the fact that Fox, Pace and his team are going to do their own independent assessment and not base things on the opinions of people who were in the organization previously or remain in the organization. I like it cause a lot of critical decisions are going to be made in year 1 (a couple of them will be made pretty quickly in regards to Marshall / Jay). John Mullin @CSNMoonMullin · 1m 1 minute ago #Bears GM Ryan Pace - met with Brandon Marshall, "need to make our own decisions and judgements and that's the process we're going thru" John Mullin @CSNMoonMullin · 1m 1 minute ago looking at OLB, "Pass rush is the No. 1 priority" per #Bears GM Ryan Pace - has been in both 3-4 and 4-3 sets with #Saints ESPNChiBears Jeff Dickerson Pace thinks #Bears can use Jared Allen & Lamarr Houston can be used in multiple ways ESPNChiBears Jeff Dickerson Pace mentions Jeremiah Ratliff played nose tackle in a 3-4 in Dallas. (DBDB Note: Fox pointed out Fuller as the best player on our defense and highlighted Ratliff 2nd; Fox also hinted at interest in bringing Briggs / Tillman back). I think we have the oldest team in football, the old guys are on there way out.

I think we have the oldest team in football, the old guys are on there way out. I think that is the first time ever I've been accused of kool aid drinking here, awesome!! Zaidman already had the narrative in his mind, and to him Fox and Pace's comments confirmed it. I took the same comments as they were willing to commit publicly to the idea of them being back, in comparison to their comments on Cutler and Marshall. If anything definite can be said, it's that Fox and Pace are obviously on the same page and they very talented at making people think they said something when they said nothing at all. I listened to the speech myself and get the same feeling they wont be back. Briggs(who cares) and Tillman(doesnt fit the scheme) Peanut has always been one of my favorite players, but all good things come to an end.
