Wesson44
I think the three signing w have so far are going to bring a new attitude to the team...with McPhee saying he is violent and Rolle and Royal being hitters (Rolle) and playmakers (Royal) things are looking up!! Now do we sign the Chiefs Parker...as he has played CB as well as safety and could be that nickelback we need with his 4.3 speed

On a side note, while that free agent class was underwhelming, how's Lovie Smith doing as GM? His was even worse.

Turned out not be much in run D either. Willie Young largely got a "who?" from the board but most agreed he would be a decent value signing for us. Mundy was mostly "I hope he's ready to start" but I can't recall anyone being optimistic about him. Jared Allen…we all thought he'd at least remember how to get to the QB more often than not but (at least for myself) felt we overpaid him. Btw, Lovie just inked Conte, so here's to hope and Lovies 3rd Rd S projects
Alaskan Grizzly
Having Rolle on the team is an excellent add. Not only is he familiar with playing alongside Mundy but he brings a veteran and respectable presence to the back end of the defense. He also comes from a great family of DBs. Some may remember Samari (long of the Titans) and Lesser known Bryan and Myron (who himself is a Rhodes scholar). This might lessen the blow a bit should Peanut leave but perhaps encourage him to stay should he see that they are constructing a pretty good group on the defensive side. By the way, what's with these late hour signings in Chicago? I just saw the announcement pop up about 10 mins ago (it's nearly 9PM here) which would mean it's almost midnight in Chicago. Wasnt McPhees deal signed late too?

adam
I'm trying to remember, were we saying something similar last season after signing Lamar Houston, Willie Young, Ryan Mundy, and Jared Allen? On a side note, while that free agent class was underwhelming, how's Lovie Smith doing as GM? His was even worse. Young actually outperformed everyone's expectations, Mundy was about where he was expected to be (serviceable) and Houston and Allen were busts. However, that was with a different regime. McPhee is not Houston, watch some video. Just like McPhee said, he is violent. Houston has the physical ability, but obviously doesn't have the drive. That will hopefully change with a new staff. Allen is just over the hill and was a knee jerk reaction to Peppers. For the money, it would've been better to just keep Peppers, but not much we can do about that now. Allen is not an every down player anymore. He needs to be a pass rush specialist to only come in on obvious passing downs and maximize his strengths. So right now, McPhee, Royal, Rolle >>> Houston, Young, Mundy, Allen Even the contracts are better.
