DABEARSDABOMB
That is for next year, correct? Or was that for this year?
ASHKUM BEAR
That is for next year, teams have until 05/01 or something to decide if they will pick up his 5th year option. At 7.5 million, do you blame the Bears for not?
madlithuanian
next. He's still here this season. Someone has to fetch water... That is for next year, correct? Or was that for this year?
Stinger226
thank god .. good riddance It would be nice if he actually fit in this system better, but fact is I dont think he is an NFL player.
CrackerDog
It would be nice if he actually fit in this system better, but fact is I dont think he is an NFL player. Ouch. But accurate. Interesting that Fox and Fangio, who are supposed to know a bit about the 3-4, don't think he fits in that D either. What a huge waste. AZ54
Even if he does play well in the new scheme there is nothing in his performance that would earn him a contract as high as his 5th year option. This is a no-brainer decision.

I thought Fox publicly stated that he liked Shea coming out of the draft? I haven't heard anyone on the Bears brass say they don't think he fits the 3-4. I haven't heard anyone on the Bears brass say they don't think he fits the 3-4. Say, no. But actions speak louder than words. With that said, as mentioned above in the thread, this really is a no-brainer decision. If Shae pans out, he'll still be cheaper than the price of the option. So I'm a bit ahead of myself with the "waste" comment.

Yeah, I figured this was more of the obvious, he isn't a 7.5M player vs. the Bears saying anything about whether they have written off Shea or not. adam
Makes total sense. If he plays well, we can bring him back cheap and save some cap space. A no-brainer.
