August 6, 201510 yr comment_149361 NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Kevin White (shin splints) will resume running next week. It's the first time we've heard White's mysterious shin injury referred to as "splints." It's a painful injury typically suffered by runners upping their training or going too hard. White must have been ramping up his workouts in anticipation of his first NFL camp. Rapsheet reported earlier Thursday that the reserve/PUP list is a possibility for White, but also that he's "itching to go." We doubt a team would sacrifice its first-rounder's first six games over shin splints. Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter Aug 6 - 1:18 PM http://www.rotoworld.com/sports/nfl/football?r=1 Report

As a 'regular' runner (usually do about 12-15 miles a week) I've had my share of them. Of course now that I'm fast approaching 50 everything hurts.... But with White being young and needing his legs to play at 1st round potential, I understand why they were cautious. Just hope he isn't too far behind the learning curve. Report

August 7, 201510 yr comment_149365 thats the problem, hope he doesnt slow his rookie season down I would rather him take it easy now. TC is important, but not the end all. Doing game preparation is the biggest factor imo. TC is reps but mainly it is about getting the body into game state. Report

Usually they don't last this long. Something's not adding up. http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/25343...n=chicago-bears https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_splints Found this too from Hub Arkush. Although he makes some intriguing points, I'm not quite to the level of pessimism about White as he appears to be: http://chicagofootball.com/2015/08/06/hub-...oncern/aop8528/ Report
August 7, 201510 yr Author comment_149368 At the moment, I'm not worried on a number of fronts. It's really still early, and we probably aren't Super Bowl bound w/ or w/o him anyway. We all want him there instead of not there. But until he misses all 4 pre-season games, I won't worry. So now he could be "missing games"? I would almost think by late next week he will have pads on. His biggest aspect of his game is speed. The Bears are only be cautious not to hamper that aspect. Sure it is slowing his development and we worry on that, but this is smart. Last season the GM/coach allowed Marshall to play when he should have sat a few weeks out. Marshall not 100% took plays out of the playbook. He was still a threat, but not a homerun one. By the seasons start we will have forgotten all of this. Report
August 8, 201510 yr comment_149373 Wednesday from my vantage point he emerged from the locker room an hour and a half after practice had begun so I figured he was doing whatever treatment routine he has to go through. They lined up a lot in 1 back but empty backfield and Bennett split out wide and the WRs inside him with the RB out wide also. Report
August 8, 201510 yr comment_149385 When was the last time we had viable options when our #2 WR went down? At this point in camp there are reports that Wilson is looking good (not great) so he should be a little more functional as a 3rd WR than he was last year. Then there is Mariani who is also playing well as a WR in camp. Jeffrey so far is the star, virtually uncoverable according to some reports, and that's great to hear. Royal has also done very well so far. Add in Bennett too with Gase showing he's willing to split him out wide this year. Report
