I think he's garbage anyway but thankfully it opens the door for Goldman to start like he shold be

I think you're crazy to think he's garbage but yes, this does open the door for more PT for Goldman, Ego, and Sutton...the way those 3 have played that might be your starting 3 for years to come.

Of course this happens.. Just all the more reason to believe in the Bears chances at a top 5 pick. Worst part of the schedule too.

P.S, was the OP thinking of Daniel Radcliffe when he posted this?? =) :P

Honestly, the way Goldman, Ego, Sutton, and even Jenkins have played I don't see that big of a dropoff.

They certainly will be thrown into the fire though. Lacy and Skittles 2 of those 3.

I am glad Brady is taking the league to court on this. League should have set policy regarding things like this...1st offense x...2nd offense y. Then have exceptions depending on facts / circumstances or something. But to do this 2 plus years later just seems very odd.

The league does have a set policy on this.

Violations of Law Involving Other Substances of Abuse

Apart from and in addition to any other provisions of this Policy, Players convicted of or admitting to a violation of law (including, within the context of a diversionary program, deferred adjudication, disposition of supervision, or similar arrangement including but not limited to nolo contendere) relating to use, possession, acquisition, sale, or distribution of Substances of Abuse other than alcohol, or conspiring to do so, are subject to appropriate discipline as determined by the Commissioner.

Absent aggravating circumstances, discipline for a first offense will be a suspension without pay for up to four (4) regular and/or post-season games. If the Commissioner finds that there were aggravating circumstances, including but not limited to felonious conduct or serious injury or death of third parties, and/or if the Player has had prior drug or alcohol-related misconduct, increased discipline may be imposed.

Read further at the link because there is a clause allowing consideration of extenuating circumstnaces. As far as Ratliff's case your argument about waiting 2 years to punish him is incorrect. The car crash happened two years ago but the case was only settled in April 2015. I am on the other side of the fence and prefer the league does not punish people before they are found guilty. Even then the league still takes actions when players are not guilty.

I hope Brady and the league go to court. The Patriots fired or suspended two employees for tampering with the footballs. Yet Kraft and Brady maintain that nobody did anything wrong. Then they refuse to provide those employees to the league for the investigation. You can't have it both ways. In court the NFL will have the right to discovery of all evidence and can call those two guys to testify as well as subpoena their phone records. Brady has been adamant he's done nothing wrong so I'm sure he too would love to hear from their own mouths what those two guys did to the footballs to get the owner (who says nothing was done wrong) to fire them. Certainly anyone unfairly fired like these two guys wants their day in court as well.

Yeah, I've had some dealings with disciplinary processes for people 'protected' by unions and as a rule criminal process usually trumps civil process. And if there was a delay in Ratliffs sentencing (or whatever) it would make sense that the NFL had to wait for their 'sentence'. And with Brady his didn't involve a criminal act, per se, so they are able to carry out the ruling sooner. But it does seem odd without considering that.

I'm still of the opinion that I too hope Brady pushes it and insists on actually going to court. He'd run the risk of perjuring himself especially since he's already flat out lied and deceited the public and the process.

Either way, I'm ready for the season to move on and this to be over with.

It will be a hit to lose him. He may be the best player on the Bears Defense or at the very least the most proven. They all knew it was coming, so at least he didn't go commit some new bone headed mistake and from all accounts has been a good Teammate and Bear so far.

Yep, I'm already ready for the 2016 Draft. Next season will be the one where we find out how far we are away from competing for a SB.

Hold on Nelly....I love draft day, but right now I am stoked for 2015 to play out.

I actually think we can close the gap with the next draft if we hit on 3 picks. OLT, CB, and S. The rest can go to BPA to add depth.

Ha, yeah, I wonder where "fans" like this would've been in the 70's when we had Walter and the defense to watch and nothing else. Year after year until we brought Iron Mike to town. No matter what the record is, I'll watch this team and expect improvement over the fiasco of last year. If I see that, the W's will start to come and the team will gel. And that'll get me even more stoked for the following season. But I can't see ever giving up on this team in the god damn preseason.

I believe this was bantered about as a possibility when we signed him as a FA. My memory may be off...

I don't like that the Bears, current teammates, staff, and fans have to be punished for this. Why not just fine him and be done with it? The only saving grace is that he will be a little bit fresher throughout the season.
