How do you turn this team around?

Not a fan of Hogan either.

Something I just thought of, the Bears will probably have a huge amount of cap space next year. They will probably cut Young, Houston and Allen creating even more space. I love talking draft because I watch so much college football but who knows what we will need going into next year draft.

Maybe they sign some stud D or O lineman taking that need away. Or even a CB or S. I could be wrong but I thought I read some where the Bears may have 60 million in cap space next year, leaving a lot of money to upgrade a lot of positions.

One thing I think everyone can agree on is that Cutler is not the future of this franchise. At 32 or 33 years old he is not going to be around another 10 years. If for some reason we did have the number 1 pick QB may be the way to go. Let him sit behind Cutler for 1 year to learn the system and develop, after next season Im pretty sure you can cut Cutler without any cap hit.

Rodgers sat for 3 years before getting his shot, look how well that worked out for him. I get that he was drafted 24th and not 1st and a lot of people will say the number 1 draft pick has to play immediately.

On the Flip side, lets say Cutler plays well this season and we end up not needing a QB for 3 or 4 years, both Bosa and the Ole Miss kid would be no brainers in my book.

I love the idea of drafting a qb high as a successor to Jay. You are right about Jay. I think he's owed just $5M gtd from when he restructured so we could grab Allen but after 2016 he can be cut with no cap hit. Also regardless of what we think about Jay his teammates love him and Jay knows the game so he could help teach and mentor a draft pick. Not these 6th and 7th rd guys that pretty much have no shot. Draft someone high who has big time talent. I really think that's the problem in today's nfl. QBs ste basically just thrown to the wolves.

Houston isn't going to the SB w/ Watt. But Rodgers virtually wills GB into the playoffs every year.

When picking that high, unless you are simply not sold on the QB...you draft the QB. If Goff has "it", we need to get him. We draft pass rusher later or the next year while Goff sits and Cutler goes one more year at it.

No to the 2nd one. Hogan was god awful vs my Wildcats. Yes Northwestern has a great secondary but that is what he will face in the NFL. Jack and Scoobey are probably first rounders and right now I'm hoping Kyle Long is the LT long term.

1st one looks solid but if the Bears continue to struggle getting to the QB they need to add a guy who can get in the backfield. Whether that be a a guy on the line like Bosa/Nkemdiche or a speed rusher opposite McPhee.

If they are sold on a QB you have to take him. Think about it like this if Andrew Luck was there, you HAVE to take him.

And you are right Rodgers is the biggest reason they won a SB and get to the playoffs every year.

QB is the most important position for any team.

I couldn't see Cutler mentoring a QB. It doesn't fit his personality or his actions. He had a pulled hamstring that he walked to the back with and didn't come back out with Clausen to help. Romo came back out with a broke clavicle to help Weeden. I can't see him wanting to be a mentor.

From my understanding Farve wasn't much of a mentor to Rodgers. I thought I read that he wasn't very nice to him at all.

It more about letting a rookie come in and learn a system before throwing him to the wolves

Good point. Didn't even think about until you mentioned it. That is sad if you think of it. Given the level of injury (allegedly) you'd think he'd at least try to come out to support the team. With the image he has, mostly through the media, you'd think he'd want to repair it...if only a little. Maybe he really "don't care"?

Or that Dallas knew Romo would be out X amount if games because they know how long it takes the clavicle to heal. In the meantime, the Bears doctors don't know the extent of the hamstring pull, so they err to the side of caution and get Jay into an ice bath because they know the sooner they can stop the bleeding or swelling is the best option. Haters just hate and don't look through other eyes.

Anyone want to go back and listen to what mccown had to say. There was nights Jay went mccown's house to help him study and learn things. Forgot that's not mentoring is it. If we don't see him happy go lucky and helping on every single play on the side lines the dude gets absolutely crushed. Why is it. You know what. Why should he care anymore. If I was treated as bad as we th fans and even worse the media I would have asked to be traded a long time ago. It's ridiculous how badly he's treated here. I start to wonder what crime did he committ to piss everyone off so much. So he hasn't lived up to expectations. By now we should be use to QBs not living up to expectations. He's pouty on the sidelines and vets in teammates faces. So does every QB in the league. I've seen Rodgers get in the opposing HC's face and no one bats an eye. But if Cutler doesn't smile he's the devil. That's my rant for the day. And I'm not a huge supporter of his anymore. I guess I'm to old and dumb to understand why such hatred. I hate him for 2 reasons. He's making big time $ and check out his wife. but that's more jealousy. I admit

Fair enough, but the only time Rodgers won a super bowl was when his defense was 2nd in the league.

Houston had been one of the better teams in the league wit Matt fn Shaub as their QB. Went to back to back NFC Championship games and only lost to the eventual SB champs.

Defense wins championships boys.

You can get Goff but it went be until you start getting talent on defense that we go anywhere.

I'm not saying disregard D. It's just if you have a QB rated as a franchise guy, you take him above all else. No single defensive player can impact the entire game as the QB...

You need it all. The lines, a running game, QB, etc... You simply need to have it all. That's why it's tough to win it all. It ain't easy. I'll simply take a top tier QB over a top tier defensive player any day of the week.

The GM simply must decide whether a QB is "it" or not. It appears we will finally be in position to try and get one.

I get what you are saying. The quickest way to win now with the core we have is to draft/add defensive playmakers. The best way to win long term is to find a top 5 QB. How long does Virginia want to wait?

I've got 127 million reasons why he should be critiqued. I'm sorry if you think he's mistreated. I'd be willing to be ridiculed the rest of my life for that money. (Heck I do it here for a lot less). If he doesn't like it yes he should demand the trade. Since his wife doesn't like living in Chicago anyhow maybe it would be for the best?

You said before I could. I hope he was in the locker room getting treatment the entire 2nd half. You cant fix what is wrong with Romo. The faster you start treatment on Cutlers hammy the faster he is back on the field.

This could be a tough decision come draft day. Top QB, great OT, or 2 forces on dline, I will even throw in 3 great ILBs with two now hurt. A CB compared to Revis and a top 5-10 S.

RD 1 Jared Goff QB-sounds too much like former Cal QB Aaron Rodgers in profiles

RD 2 Max Tuerck G/RT - plays C for USC but better used outside IMO.

Rd 3 best CB?

OR

RD1 Ronnie Stanley OLT

RD2 Scoobey Wright/Myles Jack ILB

RD3 Kevin Hogan QB

At the top spot, their is no debate...take the great QB. If the QB isn't their, move down a few spots and let someone else gush over the guy in love and accumulate some picks.
