Mongo3451
Not sure what to think of Ditka in a Packers jersey.
madlithuanian
It's a funny campaign. They have Jerry Rice putting a Dallas star in his front yard too. I'm sure more to come... ...and coach never has turned down an ad gig! Throw any color clothing on his body...we all know what colors he bleeds. Not sure what to think of Ditka in a Packers jersey. Throw any color clothing on his body...we all know what colors he bleeds. the color ditka really bleeds is green as in the color of money. madlithuanian
Fair assessment. Iggy Pop is the paragon of anti-establishment. And he's used his music to sell Carnival Cruises and John Varvatos. All can be forgiven. It's the product that we love from the past that holds the memory. Not an ad campaign. Ditka knows where his bread is buttered. He may shill for anything, but he is and always will be a Bear. Mongo and Jimmy wore the actual damn jersey. I forgave them. They too did it for the loot. to me... not so funny. for someone who puts bread on his table from enterprises in chicago it's a stupid move. especially after we have gotten our asses handed to us by them for nearly 20 years. i ain't going to lose any sleep over it but it sure makes ditka look like the whore for money he really is. the color ditka really bleeds is green as in the color of money. madlithuanian
Yeah. You don't like Iggy? I love me some Iggy & The Stooges... That's just me apparently. Well, we now know where you stand on Ditka, so having him sport the crappy sweater is not surprising that you are upset. What's the difference between professional football and advertising? Don't both pay you for services rendered? Don't get me wrong, I don't like the campaign. Yeah, I threw up in my mouth a bit the first time I saw it. But, I do get what they are trying to do. I just don't like it. But, I'm not up in arms over it. It'll soon be forgotten. Whereas, his leadership through 85 never will be. For all the bad he did, one cannot argue with the results of 1985. It wasn't all him. But he was a big part of it. What's wrong with trying to make as much money as you possibly can? This is America. As long as you don't infringe upon the rights of others...go nuts. If I could, I would. But no one wants to see me in an ad except maybe my mom... iggy pop? that's your example? what's to forgive in mcmahon or mcmichel? they were released and signed with another team to play football. same with ditka going to dallas to play and become a coach. that's life in professional football. i have absolutely no problem with that at all. i personally could care less what ditka does or doesn't do. i didn't have much respect for him in the first place. it just struck me as sad to see someone debase himself like that for money in a national spotlight. to pimp yourself to sell a freaking hamburger (unless you were broke and trying to support your family or starving). where is the integrity and at the very least, self respect? it reminds me of the Magic Christian when peter sellers casts pound notes into a vat of raw sewage while london businessmen in suits and boler hats dive in for the free floating money. that leads to: what is the bottom line you would stoop to for the sake of money, especially if you didn't need it? Lucky, come on, life is too short. There is serious stuff out there, lets have a bit of fun. Don't take this all so personally. Ditka is still the man! CrackerDog
Lucky, come on, life is too short. There is serious stuff out there, lets have a bit of fun. Don't take this all so personally. Ditka is still the man! Agreed with your first comments. The ONLY reason the ad makes any sense is because of Ditka's persona being so tied to the Bears. With that said, Ditka hasn't been "The Man" in quite some time. He had the right stuff for the early 80's but soon proved to not be the best coach. He had the talent on that team to do more than he did. Jimmy Mac always being hurt didn't help but he still should've done more. And after the Bears weren't the most talented team in the NFL, his coaching faltered. And his ego is, bar none, the biggest I've ever seen. I can remember watching the Bears on TV and seeing Ditka catch and then steamroll someone He was my favorite player. Then, the next year they got Butkus and Sayers and I was in heaven, though they never won many games, they were fun to watch.
