adam
Of the 76 kicker/punters in the database, Gould finished 75th (in terms of Value-Added) with a -13.4 and O'Donnell finished 42nd with a -1.6. The part that most were concerned with was Gould's kickoffs and that was clearly illustrated in this database as he finished dead last in that category. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-ha...on-nfl-kickers/ So with a cap hit of $4.1mil next year, is Kicker an area we need to address this offseason? Gould has the 3rd highest average salary for a Kicker (behind Gostkowski and Janikowski).

I would like too root for the guy until he hangs it up, but at this point of his career, he has past his peak. I have read many comments, not necessarily here, about not wanting to keep Forte around for 4-5 million. Now if the Bears gave you a choice of Forte or Gould for two more years, who do you choose? AZ54
In my heart I'd rather have a CB or any number of positions in the 3rd Rd, but reality is that a great kicker has more value to winning in this league than any player/value you are likely to get at any other position in the 3rd RD. Then there is the value of not giving up any KR TDs if he can always get you a touchback. Noted in the analysis is hang time on kickoffs, not something we see much of, so even if they return the kick chances are you're coverage unit is in better position to make the tackle. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players.../roberto-aguayo Then there is what we can do with that $4mil. Seeing his name completely isolated like that makes him look like a bad kicker. And $4M...tough to swallow if a GM sees that ROI. But I don't like any kicker earlier than 6th round. killakrzydav
He a great kicker and just as automatic as you get. The best longing prospect since Sebastian. I'm cool with him and three free points in the third round.
killakrzydav
I can't remember the last time I saw one of his kickoffs returned either. They're normally out off the end zone.
