Draft Tek 7-round mock

No offense, but I hate it because of the first three rounds.

1-Jaylon Smith is injured. He may have a miraculous recovery, but I can't see another 1st rounder who may not play.

2-I like the way Decker looks and plays, but nearly nobody is projecting him at LT, where he played in college. Everyone is putting him at RT or OG.

3-I don't like Rankins for the Bears because he's not a 3-4 DE, a 5T player. He's better suited in a 4-3 scheme.

4-Dislike drafting a RB, but at least you waited on it.

5-Two CBs and only one ILB, that's something I don't like. I'm sure you're factoring in FA moves.

I love Killebrew, Howard, and Zettel. Especially Zettel, he's one of those guys who doesn't seem right but just continues to hit it and play hard. He's a guy who fits in and never seems great, but consistently puts in work. A team full of guys like that wins championships.

....Rankins played in a 3-4.

Long term I don't see anything wrong with taking Smith.

I'm nodding my head at this. I can buy it. Although, I'm not sure the Bears really need three straight rounds of DBs.

I would love to see these reports.

Edit....already seeing some, but I totally disagree. He's been one of the most productive Dlinemen in college all while playing in a 3-4.

If we're in a 4-3 alignment 60% of the time why wouldn't we want at least one player in the Dline rotation who has 3-tech pass rushing skills? I would like to think Sutton could provide that but I don't think that will materialize. Unless I missed him getting cut the Bears kept Cornelius Washington around on IR likely to see if he can fill that role next season.

Sure would be nice to see the wildcard Cornelius Washington take that step up from freak athlete to productive NFL player. Physically he's got all you want. 6'4" beefed up to 285, long arms, strong like bull, explosive.

I remember hearing "fluff" last year in training camp that Washington looked real good. Hopefully that was more than just fluff.

I really hope he can stay healthy. Hd was making noise in TC. He may be a able to take the Jenkins role.

  • 3 weeks later...

Their updated mock, after several FA moves, has some odd names and I don't like it that much.

1. Myles Jack, ILB, UCLA

2. Kamalei Correa, OLB, Boise St.

3. Mile Killebrew, SS, Southern Utah

4. Nick Vannett, TE, OSU

5. Adam Gotsis, DE, GT

6. Jacob Coker, QB, Alabama

6. Kevin Seymour, CB, USC

6. Alex Lewis, OT, Nebraska

7. Daniel Lasco, RB, California (meh)

I'd rather see Darron Lee in the 2nd, Kearse in the 4th, and Murray in the 5th.

I dont like the names either, but Darron Lee will never make it to our spot in the 2nd round

If they go Jack 1st round, Lee wouldn't make any sense in the 2nd.

I'm gonna assume they add Hicks, Gresham, and a starting safety. Also gonna throw a wild card out there and say we sign Matt Moore to back up Jay. At that point I would go....

1. Myles Jack ILB

2. Vernon Butler DT

3. Le'Raven Clark OT

4. Nick Vannett TE

5. Harlan Miller CB

6. Dan Vitale SB

6. Alex Lewis OL

6. Deon Bush S

7. Matt Johnson QB

So not sure if this is a good place for this but saw on NFL.com did their 4.0 mock and for the Bears picked OLB Leonard Floyd from Georgia. ??????

Does that make sense to anyone?

Here's a quick draft analysis. The NFL network should replace Mike Mayock with this person:

No. Not even if we trade down in the 1st Rd. He's too small and doesn't fit the scheme that well. In the 2nd Rd perhaps but I don't have to go far to find other prospects at other positions I like and we need more than Floyd at OLB.

If we fill most of our needs in FA, there is a real possibility for us to go with edge rusher, but it wont be Floyd. I prefer Shaq Lawson if we do that but Noah Spence is rated high at OLB. Mort than likely it will be a choice between Robinson/DT or Jared Reed his teammate at Ala. I think Ragland is still in play if we dont bring in another ILB. At that point in the draft, I think Ramsey, Buckner, Bosa and Jack are all gone, so if we go defense, those are the names we will choose from. The possibility exists we draft a OT at that spot.

If we fill out our needs in FA, the first round will be anyones guess. Wentz or Goff, Elliott, Hargreaves, Conklin, Robinson, Lawson or Spence could be taken. It would be nice if we can get one guy to drop that we have all discussed like Buckner, Stanley, or Jack, but the reality is we take a player that wasnt high this boards radar.
