The only way we do this is if he plays for like 12 mil a year, 49ers are a cash cow and will pay him the 16 mil. follow the money
scs787
IF they are serious about this and also serious about grabbing an OLB, they could always release Houston and/or young to free up a good chunk of money.
ASHKUM BEAR
Norman has decent size, 6-0 195. He was one of the best defensive players in the NFL last season, earning votes. Plays more zone in Carolina, but he can play press. Why is Carolina letting him walk with Zero compensation? Do they believe his play is generated from the front 7? They played it all wrong by not working out a trade imo.

From what I've read their GM "Doesn't believe in handing out big contracts to CBs" and didn't want the distraction of not being able to sign him long term looming. madlithuanian
He could also just be pleasing the player by letting him see what the market will offer and then match... That could be if they were far off on finding his long term numbers. The owner probably said if you can get that, good for you, if not this is where we are at.
