adam
I think we all kind of liked this guy. Hate to trade up for him though when I had bigger names I wanted. That has been my view for the entire draft. We are drafting up but not necessarily taking players that are worthy. The trades just seem off. Stinger226
Who else we do have on at inside LB, down here you dont always draft for this year Was 20th rated player still available.
bradjock
First blemish for Pace, IMO. I don't care how much you love a guy, why trade up for a non-need? Â ILB is a physcial and demanding position. You can't expect Travathian and Freeman to play every game. It's quite possible when the season starts, we may not have a single ILB who was on the team last year.
adam
Which projection? Nolan Noawrocki had him listed as a 3-4th rounder and the #86 player overall. Based on that scale, getting #86 at #115 is good value. Well worth throwing in an extra 7th round pick. We traded a 6th to move up a couple of slots in the 4th, not a 7th. jason
Like I said, he's targeting players specifically. Â I don't know where Nick Kwiatkoski was projected by the Bears - saw him from 4th to 7th in various mocks - but he's a guy I've liked for a while. He's a ball player. I don't know the Bears need an ILB since they just signed two, but I think he's a good player. Would rather have had Scooby though.
Mongo3451
Was 20th rated player still available. I like it. Free agent guys don't pan out sometimes. Now they will have to do their work. Fangio is getting a much stronger front 7.
Stinger226
Was 20th rated player still available. Was rated the 76th best player in the draft by PFF. actually a very good valve here.
dawhizz
Who else we do have on at inside LB, down here you dont always draft for this year  I thought Jonathan Anderson and John Timu both did well last year when pressed into duty and Christian Jones can play there. bradjock
We traded a 6th to move up a couple of slots in the 4th, not a 7th. Â My bad! Arkush and Gabriel on the SCORE said it was the 7th. Either way, it wasn't a reach, and if we believe in a guy, go get him. It wasn't like the 49ers trading into the 1st round to take Josh Garnett, who everybody had projected as a 3rd or 4th rounder. Â On a side note, Lawrence Holmes Tweeted this and it left me laughing my ass off: Â "Kiper is like: this guy has that "Bears mentality" just say he's white w/ short hair & has a Polish last name... scs787
I will say that they are setting themselves up for long term sustained success. Freeman isnt a spring chicken, and I think ILB is important to them. Guess they weren't as high on Timu as I thought. Â I do like Nick though. Former safety who isn't bad in coverage. A player I have seen him compard to was Trevathan, I would prefer spots be filled at need, but that is not what good drafting teams do. I am anxious to see what plans they have going forward.  Remember they still have PFAs yet to get and a second phase of FAgency to go after people drop players after the draft. We got Porter last year in the second phase.
Pixote
I personally think that sometimes 6th & 7th round picks are best used to position yourself in rounds 1 thru 5 for trade ups to improve your chances of getting players you want. ALL draft picks are a crap shoot, but to me rounds 1 thru 5 are the spots where you have the best shot of getting a winner. Many players selected in the 6th and 7th wind up being cut or placed on the practice squad. Â I realize there are exceptions to this but it is just my opinion. Better than picking an OLineman in the 7th, starting him for years, and letting him kill your QB. <_>

Need is debatable I guess, because I don't think RB is a need. I don't really want to see a RB.  The need a SS much more, still have a question at LT, still need a solid CB, and could use another rotational 5T DE.

jason
Deon Bush - Solid S pick. Not my favorite, but it's a need. He's definitely not a FS, so he's the presumptive SS of the future.

He had him listed as a FS. Nawrocki also had him as the #85 player overall.
Stinger226
The Bears pick Deon Bush s 40-yard dash: 4.52 seconds Vertical: 39 1/2 inches Broad jump: 10 feet, 3 inches 3-cone: 6.91 seconds  Is a big hitter, has some suddenness to him. good vertical and 3 cone
